I play mostly HOG & puzzle games. This HOG is good, sorta ho-hum. It is all HOG, one after another.

A challenging hidden-object game that's heavy on reading. This is not a point-and-click adventure, rather you get lengthy textual cut-scenes interspersing hidden-object scenes and a few simple puzzle mini-games. The text is a faithful adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic. Graphics, text, and even music work together quite atmospherically to capture the feeling of late 19th century London. The hidden-object scenes are not easy. Part of the difficulty is due to the very low resolution, but for the most part objects are fairly and cleverly hidden. You'll have to look very carefully to find some of them! The puzzles are trivial, but they do offer a nice break in pacing. If you aren't interested in reading then you can skip through the text quickly and just play the hidden-object scenes. It would still be a nice experience. However, in my opinion this game's charm is in the combination of reading and gameplay.

PROS 🟢 HOP adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde's story 🟢 Faithful to the original narrative 🟢 A satisfying conclusion showcases Robert Louis Stevenson's work 🟢 Theme-appropriate music like the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film CONS 🔴 No voice dialog reduces immersion 🔴 Dated graphics for a 2020 release, closer to the early 2000s 🔴 High price considering game quality and duration 🔴 Low-res fullscreen only (looks like 720p?) 🔴 Sound settings don't save REVIEW This interactive story with Hidden Object Puzzle (HOP) elements immerses players in the classic world of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which is ideal for newcomers or those seeking a refresher. Thanks to Stevenson's skillful storytelling, it stays true to the original story for an authentic experience. Beyond Stevenson's tale, the music resembles the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film soundtrack, effectively evoking Victorian London's gas-lit streets. However, the game has serious drawbacks. The absence of voice dialog hampers immersion. The graphics resemble the early 2000s, not a 2020 release (clarification is needed if it's an early 2000s game). The game forces players into an unsatisfactory low-res fullscreen mode, around 720p. After each start, unsaved sound settings require adjustments, worsened by a loud intro. Additionally, the price is high for the quality and gameplay length. Considering these issues, I suggest this game for those intrigued by Robert Louis Stevenson's captivating Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story. Gameplay is somewhat lackluster; the narrative is the draw. Beyond that, it lacks value for its price. GAME CONTENT: 1) Use of explicit or offensive language? No. 2) Depictions of sexual content or innuendo? No. 3) Portrayals of drug or alcohol use? Unfortunately for some reason after the first cutscene and after you go to the menu writing your username selecting ''play''and reading the first chapter, when you click ''ok'' to begin the game it just crashes. As I read in the community it doesnt run in Windows 10. Thats so sad because Im a fan of Dr jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Im still reading the novel. If you have Windows 10 then Im afraid that you cant run the game, therefore I dont recommend the game. :(
