Aaaaaand another game into the "when theres nothing else to play" list, in case its not clear this NOT a "do not recomend" review, this is "by all that is good and beautiful in this world DO NOT BUY THIS" review.
I am a serial game finisher, you really have to be bad for me just ot give you 20 minutes of my time.
I could talk about the crap keyboard controls, about the lame mechanics, about the bad graphics, about crap artstyle, about non existant character of the guy you play, the bad voice acting or the fact the intro needs subtiltes because with every posible kind of volume up to 100%, the narration was in whispers, BUT im gonna go straight for the killhshot. This game was made realease in 2021, it uses UNITY and NOT only does it not have a "load from save" option, there is no "back to main menu option", meaning that you wanna try another shot at section, you need to EXIT the game and then start from wherever the game saved your progress.
If that doesnt kill this game for you, you deserve everything you are about to witness

Great Indie game! Amazing art and level designs always on point for the traditions of each story. As well as level design and game play (quite challenging).
The part that I enjoyed most are the Boss fights as they have an incredible character design that stands up from the rest and they are challenging to beat.
Thanks for finding a fun way to maintain the traditions of several Hispanic Cultures and showing the importance of it. Great message for all the world.
As overall 9/10, played with a controller

A great game highlighting legends from our region.
The game is a little bit on the short side, but I loved the boss battles and the art style. The efforts of the Ecuadorian studio on this game is commendable.

Excellent story, very good voice acting, the music and sfx are incredible, the art is wonderful. The gameplay is simple but challenging, so I recommend playing with a controller. I highly recommend taking a look at what this study is doing.

This is an action platformer with some puzzle elements. It's not a traditional metroidvania, because you don't have a contiguous map; however, there are progression elements, and certain items are impossible to reach without revisiting old areas with new abilities.
The game is primarily level-based. Each level is a story book that takes place over several screens. Depending on your actions, you can be going through different screens, in a unique take on a choose-your-own -adventure books. Each book contains a story from a different Native culture of Latin America, and your objective is to read the legend ahead of time, and then go through the book, making sure the story does not get re-written and forgotten. Just beating each book's boss does not guarantee a happy ending, but the game does provide hints, and you can run through each book multiple times.
Your abilities come in the form of spells- you enter a “casting stance”, and then you need to input a sequence of buttons for each spell. Spells cost Lore to cast, which is your universal currency in the game- you use it to cast spells, buy/sell items, upgrade your spells and repair your equipment.
The game's art is gorgeous, and the music is quite nice and fits the tone of each story. The Ideas here are great; The execution is more of a mixed bag. The most obvious is the jump. Your character's jump height and length depends on how long you hold down the jump button. This isn't a bad thing, but it definitely takes some getting used to, and can make the platforming feel floaty and imprecise. The combat is pretty rudimentary, but the enemy's attacks cause knockback, so that's another thing to keep in mind. There can be occasional glitches where the character performs weird jumps halfway across the level; I didn't find these to be much of an issue, though. Difficulty is fair, and some of the late-game equipment is pretty overpowered, which gives the player something to play towards. There are also achievwments for beating bosses with no damage and passing an entire level without dying, so if you want extra challenge content, it's there for some replayability.
Overall, the game leaves me with mixed impressions. I wouldn't play this for the platforming, or combat. But the unique storytelling and exploration of the various versions of stories makes this game unique enough to be be worth a purchase.

I had so much fun playing Guardian of Lore. I'd totally recommend it to people who enjoy traditional platforming games with an interesting modern twist.
I really enjoyed the spell system, the different Latin American stories and of course, the music! Good job Round 2 Games

there are voices in the world today which preach for us to forget our history... to be ignorant of the past and the stories with which our ancestors passed down to us... This is a game that works to keep the cultures of the old american civilizations alive. Its wonderfully animated and there is this having to learn the story element in order to get things to work out correctly every time... its inspiring in both how it was executed as well as the message of keeping the memories of the past alive and acting especially when those histories are threatened. plays well a;though i admit using the ctrl and alt keys are different

I have been a few hours into the game and I think it is really cool.
Been following the devs since this was an idea and it is really nice to see it come through to what it was meant to be.
The art is really nice and it really feels like a good ol' timey platformer.
