A shame there isn't a neutral option on the review, but as things stand it is hard to give this an overall positive. Frustrating because with some further development this could have been good. As it stands this is a very trimmed down copy of defence grid, with limited levels, no orbital skill, no story and only 2 difficulty levels to maps. No alternate game modes. It has a decent mix of towers, and the maps are ok, but everything about the game feels like the bare minimum basics. In just a few hours you will have seen everything this has to offer, and you wont go back to it. If you have not done so already, buy Defence grid instead (or Sol survivor). If you really must scratch the tower defence itch and have played everything else then this might pass a couple of hours but only buy at a steep discount.

A competently made Tower Defense title, that while missing a few "bells and whistles" at this early stage, but did not stop me completing all 14 levels on hard with 'clean" runs. The mazing in the later levels gives you plenty to think about. The graphics are quite impressive and everything seems to work as it should. Look forward to the possibility of more levels.

An Enjoyable Defense Grid Clone Well Worth The Asking Price
Whilst UIFO Defense HD is clearly "inspired" by the Defense Grid games the developer has picked the right games to be inspired by. IMO the DG games are the best TD games bar none. I bought UIFO Defense at 50% off for £1.99 and I am enjoying it a lot. There are 14 levels and two difficulty settings (Normal and Hard). I am currently working my way through the game on the Normal difficulty and will then play through again on Hard. The game is quite easy but I have played many TD games and your mileage may vary. The graphics are very good as are the explosions and effects. The enemies have no health bars and this annoyed me at first but I now think this makes the game better as you are never really sure how close to death they are and leads to some edge of the seat moments as they advance towards the exit without the player knowing whether the last defences will be able to take them out. There is no way to speed up the game that I know of and this to me is a drawback. I think that all TD games should have this feature as standard. Also I wish there were more play modes available such as Endless, Grinder and Super Grinder like the Defense Grid games. I want these modes purely because I like the game and when I finish it on both difficulties I know I will want to play more of it. This game is very good for the asking price. Not Defense Grid good but still a bargain particularly at 50% off. Recommended.

I'm only twenty minutes in, but I feel I have enough of a n idea of the strengths and weaknesses to write a review. For starts, yes, it is very much a tower defense game. A lot of games get that label erroneously so I felt the need to start with that. First the good things. Visually very solid, Lots of interesting looking monsters, in an eye catching sci-fi like world. animation is excellent, all of the sounds are good, atmospheric without getting irritating and it all seems to work. Now the downsides. The entire thing is darn near info free. Monsters have no health bars, no descriptions and no fluff to explain what is going on. A cardinal sin in my book, as it requires little to no effort. There is no way to speed things up, and while there is some pathing, so far it is insignificant. There are no tactical options, and there are no tech trees or anything of a strategic nature either. There appear to be nine towers, and so far it is a straight three levels up with no options of any kind. So yeah, a pretty tepid thumbs up, but it all works, and I can't complain, it is a bare bones, less than interesting Tower Defense game, and I intend to go back and play some more. If there were more decent TD games on the market I might say otherwise, but sadly it is a genre that doesn't seem to get the attention I think it deserves. ADDENDUM: It was fun, but I really only got about eight hours of fun before I was done. Shame, with a bit of work, this could have been really good. The visuals are great.

Cheap "Defense Grid" knock-off. But there's nothing wrong with that when it's priced like it is, tbh. The graphics are decent, but very poorly optimized. My RTX 2080 struggles with 40-50 fps (1080p) when there are many towers and lots of action. Oh, and you cannot set resolutions that aren't 16:9. Graphics setting seem to be broken as well, and there's not difference in quality adjustments. Audio design is ok, except for an incredibly annoying and loud voice-warning when you are empty of energy. Audio volume control is broken, and menu interactions is at 100% volume all the time, RIP headphones. The maps are easy to complete (14 in total), even at hard difficulty, which is a bit disappointing. It took me maybe 4-5 hours to play through them all. Not much variety in attacking units, and most of the maps can be done with the same 3 towers. There are no camera PoV controls, but there is mousewheel zoom and WASD movement. No restore feature if you do mistakes, and main menu doesn't even offer a restart, so you have to exit the map, and then replay the level. The game offers no replayability value. But, it's cheap, and has decent value for its price. Buy, play, uninstall :)

This game is a borderline unapologetic knockoff of Defense Grid, and that's okay. DG got it right with tower defense games and UIFO Defense has that same vibe. The graphics look very good (especially for a $4.99 title) and the towers look cool and are all fun and unique. The difficulty curve is decent, but if you have any experience with tower defense you will breeze through normal with all 3 star clears. For the price this one is definitely worth grabbing. Here are a few thoughts on improvements I would be willing to pay for: - Enemy health bars please! - Camera control. The current locked camera has a couple zoom settings, but is very restricted. - Additional play modes. Once a story mission is completed on each difficulty there are no incentives to replay. Maybe some form of endless mode with a scoreboard. - Flame tower needs a buff. Preferably a burn effect (damage over time). In it's current state it is not cost effective next to other tower options. - Howitzer tower has an identity crisis. Armor buster or crowd control? The low rate of fire and high damage suggest anti armor but the short range and area effect suggest add clearing. Because this combo of characteristics is supportive of two different roles, the tower doesn't excel at either. Either make it a long range tank killer or tune it more for cluster bombing up close. For a budget game this one is a pleasant surprise and has great potential. I get that there would be dev costs, so if a large list of requested updates like this results in the game price jumping to $9.99 or have some kind of $4.99 DLC I (and likely lots of others) would gladly support it!

This was one of the better tower defense games that had great potential but never evolved. Beat the game in roughly 5 hours of casual play with some map replaying. If your a Tower defense person ( like Defense grid the awakening, etc ). I recommend it if you think the price is right for a game you will beat within a few hours.

Probably the most fun tower defense game I have played. There are levels with varying complexity that require various strategies. My only complaint would be that I would like to see more levels. I would even be willing to pay more money for DLC to get more levels, it was so fun.

For its price, I'd say this game has good value. Like many tower defense games out there, this game has nothing special. Yet, it's arguably better than most TD games out there. The challenges are just right, without being too easy yet not too "hitting the wall with your head". You can build walls with your towers, which enable you to control how and where the waves of monsters come at you. It has two difficulty levels, and 14 main levels, so that's 28 levels you could tackle. It does lack some basis features, such as the ability to call waves early or speed up the timer, but otherwise, it's a solid game all around. If you're a fan of TD games, you can't go wrong with this.

I like it. It's not as detailed as other games. But I really enjoy playing. I would only like to recommend energy bars for the enemies and a restart option when you pause the game. All in all if you enjoy tower defense games then this game is worth its price.
