If I could give this a thumbs sideways, I would. Played every game in the Shantae series and while this is probably the second best, it's leagues behind Pirate's Curse, still. It's cute, but the gameplay itself is just so pedestrian and obnoxious, with dumb level design and ability decisions smoothed over with Skyrim-esque levels of consumable items shoved in your pockets. Drilled through this game in two days while listening to podcast episodes, and I wouldn't have finished it without them. Barely qualifies as a wait-for-a-sale game, and there's definitely better metroidvanias with lower price tags. Meh.
