All day dying is a score attack based first person shooter, although it plays out quite differently than you'd initially think, its high speed reactionary first person shooting, what more could ya ask for?
The gameplay is where this game stood out for me, since it shares a lot of similarity with hotline miami, mainly in the form of you need to keep combo for higher scores, and enemies can be somewhat unpredictable, much to your dismay or delight at times, you have many weapons at your disposal each with varying secondary powers which the game often forces you to use a particular one, which i quite liked because it prevents you from getting overly comfortable with one weapon and forces varying context for you to come up with solutions to not getting shot in the face, enemies work by a hitscan in the sense that you need to take cover and prevent line of sight which will get you killed very quickly, there are some other enemy types including bullets that do come out in real time and slow down jetpack enemies which adds nicely to the mix of enemies you're up against and how to handle them, the difficulty is sometimes cheap and sometimes fair, it really does come down to how the enemy wants to behave (or not) but there's side objectives and difficulty modes to get you used to the map layouts and how to go about the level, there's so much to the gameplay which i thoroughly enjoyed throughout, and for it alone i'd say its worth giving this game a shot.
The graphics are alright, i didn't find them outstanding nor bland, they didn't really hinder the gameplay and everything which needs to be clear to the player is very much made clear, but a lot of the landscape looks dull and doesn't have much life to it, could be an intentional part of the atmosphere but for me i just saw it as a side element to everything going on.
The music and sound is where the game didn't really have much going on either, the music i frankly throught was dreadful, i shut it off pretty quickly and put my own playlists on, but the sound effects are alright some of the voice lines can be almost impossible to hear but they're never really needed so i paid no mind to it.
Overall a very fun gameplay heavy game, and while i think other departments let the game down because they aren't as built up or stylistic as i prefer in a game, it can very easily be forgiven just by how fun the game is to play and based on that alone, i'd say to give it a try!

Too much RNG for a trial game. The time limits are so tight that a single bad shotgun spread roll or an enemy pathing the long way to find you means your run is over. It gets worse later on when projectile enemies are introduced. They have perfect accuracy and fire at set intervals no matter what animation they are in, making you completely at the mercy of what spin jukes the AI decides to do. On linear levels this isn't as much of a problem since the AI tends to make the same or similar decisions every time. Arena style levels are insufferable as the time limit offers no room for error and enemies are just inconsistent enough to make a quarter of the runs unwinnable from the outset. Tentative recommendation if the developer changed weapon spread such that it was deterministic. A square or round pellet formation on the shotgun or something

A well made, tightly paced, subtly balanced and polished movement shooter with expressive score attack,
bumpin' electro-pop soundtrack, THPS challenges, and a very smooth futuristic art style.
Though some might say it was ULTRA even before all the New Blood ruckus, true to its sources of inspiration with substance to add, quite a small game with not much to say however outside of this.

Back then we didn't have many free to play multiplayer games. We didn't even have internet, only computers and games we bought on discs at the market. When you have multiplayer game but no internet, you could still have some fun just by creating empty server in CS/HLDM/UT/Quake and adding some bots to play with.
Usually these bots were pretty stupid, so to spice it up we made more rules for ourrselves, like having to use only one weapon, or kill this number of bots within time limit, or do all of that and also not die a single time. You can still see some videos with challenges like these on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzsWcYwxdjA
This game resembles all this stuff. It plays kinda like multiplayer game with bots, there are many optional challenges, you can do as many as you like, each one gives you some points, the more points you have the more mappacks you unlock. Do all challenges on one specific map and you also unlock some mutator or cheat. Difficulty levels change the amount of mistakes you allowed to make per run.
Gameplay is very addictive and gunplay is satisfying. Graphics has this ascetic type of beauty, which is good for budget pcs and gives clean visual look without distracting you from gameplay. First chapter's sountrack is kinda cheap so most people will probably turn it to mute and won't see how much better music gets in the second and third chapters. Overall game sure worth it's money and delivers some high quality entertainment for about 15-20 hours if you just want to get to the ending and credits screen, and some more if you want to get all the highscores and optional objectives/secrets on all maps.
If you get to the ending, you'll see the behind the scenes video, which will show how game went through development process, which is some forgotten nowadays thing along with cheatcodes and such soulful oldschool gamedev stuff.

A challenging and high quality indie FPS, which emphasizes on the "practice makes perfect" mentality. The lack of upgrades, procedural power systems and absence of random number generation means that one has to memorize, practice, and eventually create his/her own strategies in order to beat the challenging levels. There is no hand holding included, and the levels are fast-paced-yet very short in duration. Definitively worth a try if any of the aforementioned characteristics pique your interest.

Tony Hawk's Pro Shooter.
If that description is enough to get you excited, then you might as well drop the 10 bucks to play it because you're not going to see anything else like this anywhere else except 2005's Total Overdose.
The main idea of the game is basically Pro Skater's career mode: a series of maps that each contain six objectives for the player to beat in 2 minutes or less. These objectives are divided into three "high score" and three "contextual" objectives, the latter of which range from beating the level using a single weapon to finding and completing an off-the-path extra area like a shooting range or a platforming section. Though you can complete multiple objectives in a single run, it's often not possible to clear all of them in one go, either because the act of completing one requires not doing another or because completing one would require an extremely sub-optimal playthrough of the map, like sprinting past all of the enemies to get to a contextual objective that takes a lot of time to complete. This means that fully completing a map requires replaying it as many times as necessary to get all of the objectives and build enough familiarity to clear it with a high score. There are multiple difficulties, but they only affect the margin of error the player has - faster combo timers, lower health, higher enemy accuracy - and there's not really much reason to play on a higher difficulty beyond achievements and personal satisfaction.
The combat is momentum driven with simple mechanics that can combine together in ways that open up a fair amount of depth, sort of like if Titanfall was designed for arcades. There are five guns that are all FPS staples, but with peculiar mechanics that are designed to fit with the game's speed and stylishness: a pistol that can lay a teleporter, a machine gun that can go into bullet time, a shotgun with a shockwave that can let the player rocket jump, a sniper rifle that can shoot a bullet that ricochets into other enemies, and an assault rifle that can act as an automatic shotgun, grenade launcher, or rocket launcher. All of this together means that a skillful player can essentially soar around a level constantly laying down fire on enemies - which is necessary, because it only takes a couple hits to kill you.
All Day Dying is a one man show, and you can tell in the presentation. Though the dev has been extremely diligent constantly responding to bug reports, comments and suggestions and there has been an immense amount of progress tuning up the game over recent weeks, there's a generally amateur feel that can be a little jarring when they're seen next to the stylish and very pretty Superhot-does-Wipeout aesthetic. In particular, the game's numerous mechanics are conveyed largely through a big practice room full of buttons that show tooltips as well as small explanation videos on levels where new mechanics are introduced, meaning that it's on the player to seek out how to play and practice rather than the game providing a more natural tutorial process. But the fundamental ideas are so interesting and done so competently that if the concept of a THPS style shooter appeals to you, I'd say it's worth the price of admission.

On an anonymous korean basket weaving imageboard, someone once said
"Sup assholes, how's progress on your game going /adgd/?"
And for once someone replied
"I'm done."
And he was right. And everything was good.
Well done Paulo Lopes, you deserve my money.
