How to make heads or rails of Bloody Trains…? I purchased this software on artistic merit alone, feeling an instant affinity towards the aesthetic. i fell aboard blindly, ready to chugga chugga woo woo. The controls are simple — the instructions are non-existent — you'll scratch your head, it will blood, and you will like it. Although confusing, the lack of direction is not a setback. The simple controls allow for intuitive gameplay, and the smartly designed symbols and signage within the game do unfold with meaning as you progress. This is the perfect game for anyone who likes to think and frown before figuring out a satisfactory gotcha or aha! It may not be for you if you prefer to be spoon fed. With excellent visuals and beautiful music, it's up the creek, off the rails, and on the money. Rough and ready, oozing charm. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this developer in the next carriage over.

I wanna start this review off by saying I originally had no idea what was going on in this game. The gameplay was confusing, there was no indication on what I'm supposed to do or how I'm supposed to do it. That being said, rest assured after the initial confusion sets in it only gets more confusing from there. I still have literally no idea what I just played. I can't even give it a score because I'm so confused. Here's my gameplay: https://youtu.be/i_PLgh3JHW8

Weird indie "auteur" game with surrealistic ambiance set in the mundane world of mass transit in a generic northern europe country. The absence of interface or explanations is by design, but it doesn't stop it from being annoying. The gameplay is like a casualized restaurant management sim, with a few boss battles thrown in. The whole thing isn't that bad. It's interesting for a while until it stops being interesting and a bug wipes out your whole progress. Then you have to Alt-F4 because it's the only way to quit the game. The crazy high base price and the impossibility to change keys definitely seal this as a thumb down. I was charmed by the aesthetics and the mysterious nature of the game. That kind of thing attracts me to games, where you don't necessarily know what to do but you can figure it all out. Sadly it was not very difficult to figure out what to do, and it became an exercise in tedium. You just walk back and forth in a train car and attend to the needs of the patrons, which could be giving them blankets drinks or food. You put fire in the furnace to make sure it doesn't get too cold, you mop up vomit and spray bugs with pest spray. You summon the police to escort Nazis off the train. It's really boring. It's very slow and there doesn't seem to be any challenge to it. I beat the first boss and then it just became more of the same with a few extra mechanics like unlocking bathrooms. The asking price of 22 Canadian dollars is a complete joke because this game is worth at most a dollar to $2 if you just want to experience the weirdness of it. Resist the urge to believe you will have as much fun as the people on YouTube are pretending to have. You won't have any fun.
