Very much still an early access game, but still an amazing oldschool zombie survival with a super developer. this thing is going places.

[9/10/22] A lot has changed from when I first played this game upon release. Now you've got a faster start, a clearly stated goal, though I liked the mystery of the original; and an inventory that tells you how many goodies there are! There's also been a drastic decrease in character stretching and he seems to talk more often of your objectives
It would seem there were a vocal minority of newbies that complained they couldn't figure out what to do and cave caved to them...
Still a good quick game and I hope the creator still loves his creation. Original, now dated, review: Fresh off a normal run,
burning through all the elevator levels without using the battery pack or solving the security subplot,
I found Lab 7 to be a "rogue lite" style game with an addictive gameplay loop that keeps me coming back after each failure. Certainly look forward to Dave's continued support for this game and what else would/will be added or will release next.

wasn't expecting much but then got sucked in with the gameplay loop and progression. The fact that you can level up your weapons by using them and also upgrading them when you find blueprints so you can go to the next floor to fight harder enemies. You can also upgrade your turrets and walls several times. I really like the horde aspect of it, trying to hold the line and not get pushed back. Also if you die, its game over and you have to start a new game from the beginning. Its a rough hidden gem. Took me about 2hrs to finally figure out how things work in the game and where to go. Died 3 times, but each time I was able to last a bit longer. The guns are fun to shoot. I think as long as there are more things we can invest our coins into to get stronger or maybe get new perks, it'll keep the game lively and give players a reason to keep playing. Also I've noticed the Dev is really active in responding to player questions or bugs. Definitely give this one a shot!

This game looks kinda unimpressive on the outside (I watched splattercats video and thought it looked dope.) It seems fairly new but if you can get it (escpecially on this sale easy $7 for a good game.) it's confusing on a couple things in the beginning but once you've played a couple rounds you'll start learning the meta and where things are. it's quite fun and very enjoyable. I've been coming back to this game every so often when i'm waiting for friends. The dev is super involved with playerbase. When i post a question it's answered within a day or so. If anyone posts a bug he goes right in on fixing it. (I found a bug and the next day it was already patched.) He has high hopes and ideas for the game, and so do I. I can't wait to see what he brings. I promise you once you get a feel for the game it is very fun. TIPS: bottom floor is basement, get some starting power up in security and elevetor, the max out lights as soon as possible for easier headshots and to see things laying around. left click to bring up inventory menu for turrets, walls, and pills the ammo box is 1 floor above basement, the armory is there too. Not to sure but I feel like the basement is the largest room so thats where I base my defences. (there is a vending machine barricade in the second floor.. havent really used that floor for anything.) if you use to much power and go negative the alarm will sound. to turn it off the switch is far back in the basement. theres some other cool stuff around good luck and have fun. :D

Interesting 2d Action Defense game, tough learning curve. Had fun, would recommend it, if you like demanding games. About the gameplay: When you wake up for the first time (ingame) you should definitely follow the tutorial carefully and study the provided aid (in the game menu). Otherwise you will, like myself, have a hard time to figure out what to do and how. Especially the power management system is hard to understand. In-game help or community hub can help here. Once you've overcome this obstacle, the actual gameplay begins. You start to research the floors of the lab, equip yourself with weapons, turrets, keycards, and so on to reach out for the upper floors. In the elevator there are several floors hidden behind a switchable button (unfortunately easy to miss). You have to fight through each of these to unlock the next one and to fight your way to the outside. Additional monsters storm into the laboratory every day or when you fail your powermanagement. So you have to take care of your time management to avoid being overrun. If you die you have to start all over again. Luckily the tutorial is skipable. There are some puzzles to solve and things to try and learn. Trying, dying and restarting is therefore part of the game concept and desired. It's nice that you improve your weapon knowledge from run to run and keep your knowledge. It is unusual that you don't have to aim by yourself. But RNGsus is quite gracious if you have mastered your weapon. You can choose between controller or mouse & keyboard. Controls are close to the controller when using mouse and keyboard, but you can reassign it to what ever you want. Graphics are atmospheric, while the rooms come with nice details, some turrets are kept very simple. All in all quite ok. However, the navigation is a little confusing. Unfortunately, the game only remembers part of the game settings. While the language (german and english available) can be defined in the main menu, the resolution and sound volume have to be set again each try. The important "game help" is also hidden in the menu after a run has been started. It explains the power management and the most important basics that result from it. This should be more easily accessible to the player. To emphasize positively: The developer is on the forums with advice and action and is currently providing the game with patches very quickly. Have not seen the end yet, will update when i finish my first run.

Fun little game, would be really fun with a co-op mode but still good without. I play to kill time now and then I'd recommend getting it if you find yourself waiting for something often or like to get to top of leaderboards etc...

I really like it! Even though it has really simple mechanics, there is still a sort of complexity to them. However, some bugs that occur is that there would be colorful flashes on screen, don't know if that was patched, when reloading the shot gun, sometimes when I would reload once then fire, it would stay stuck on only loading 1 shell. Another one is that when I would get into the elevator, sometimes i can't scroll to the floor level that I want and exit and re-enter the game. Oh I even though I searched all the lockers, I couldn't find the upgrade for one of the machine gun. On the other hand, this game is really fun and addicting! I can't wait to reveal secrets within!!!

3 dollar flash game. 6 guns, 8 reload upgrades, one ammo capacity upgrade, 2 baracades 3 turrents. All upgradable. Game was mainly designed to be played on easy, this can be felt in higher difficulties as your ammo will end up running out from the overwhelming hoards and the reload speed will become too slow to properly push back said hoards. Roughly a 3-4 hour game. 6/10, could have been more. Needed more content.

Can't say i'm a fan. The game is extremely grindy and repetitive, with the later "levels" just throwing so many Bullet sponge enemies your way you go through your whole ammunition to get to a Fuse box. Idle animations while you aim are a pain in the ass. They dont "actually" take your aim off the zombies, but it always throws me off when my character starts aiming at random directions in the middle of a fight. Hit boxes are f@cked up, with shots not connecting with some zombies if they are too close. Then you got the Kick that is awkward to use since you pass through Zombies if you don't time it right. And on top of that you have Zombies hitting you through barricades. And since once you're hit you get stun locked, If there's ever a group at a barricade that hits you through you're as good as dead. Add to that the awkward controls, whereas you don't seem to have a quick way to swap weapons ( mouse wheel up and down would be amazing, or the Q key / Tab key )

I was looking for a game with Kingdom roots but with a twist. This is exactly that kind of game. The only thing that keeps me from praising it fully is the absence of co-op. There is a VS mode, but no co-op. A co-op mode would be more logic to me as this is a survival game. But I still recommend the game.
