I have 141 hours - I like the game but slightly prefer the original version for the chaos that it provides.

Very fun modern take on classic 2D arcade shooters, mixing ideas from Space Invaders, bullet hell shooters and others.

This is a preview of first impressions only as I have played only 1.8 hours. What I can say now is that it is fun, very colorful, runs very smoothly and has a decent sound track too. I only play single player, but that's fine with this game. Glad I bought it, and anyone who likes a game with some character to it, arcade style shooter with leader board and plenty of achievments is sure to like it.

Shucks. I bought this EX version the same time I bought the original Vortex Attack. Basically the same game, but this one is newer. Still, cannot complain since both versions are really fun, and I paid $1.99 for this (80% off) during a sale. Recommended for shooty game fans!

This is not the typical bullet hell game as it looks like. I relax while I play it, while others stress me too much. It is important for me to have a shared screen co-op mode and it is one of the few that offers it, so I can play it with my familly. It has great online and local leaderboards, so you can position yourself among other players. You can use different ships with different stats, which you need ot unlock after some key bosses. The farther you go, the better ships you unlock. I recommend this version over the first one, because, here you have difficulty modes, improved leaderboard and better controller support in menus.

This game is very disappointing. All the action is on one screen (i.e. your ship doesn't really pass over terrain or stars like in most Shmups. Also the enemies mostly sit there and do nothing.

This is a graphical upgrade to the original and it also has a few new bells and whistles to make it feel newer than before. If you like vertical space shooters and want to get that sweet, sweet high school all over the world, give this a shot!!!!

Vortex Attack EX is a more polished and has more content to from the first version , which to be honest is no bad thing. Now with unlockable scan line and filter options which is very cool. Also 2 game modes called neon and metal, plus lots of unlockable ships to look forward to as well and lots of other new content. But by far the best version of the 2 on here, buy hey I love this developers games so much that I own both, so yes call me mad I don't care. 😁 If you have never bought any kaliedoscope games, well then I urge you to check the other games out to. From what I remember this is one guy mostly making them, which to be honest is amazing. So if you have never played this game, then don't waste anymore time and give it a go if you love arcade games, and the other kaliedoScope games to. 😊

Although I'm giving it a thumbs down, this is not a bad game-it's actually a good game, but when I compare it to the original Vortex Attack the problem for me is if you get this game, compared to the original all you seem to get so far are perhaps some bug fixes and an easier game, but otherwise it is largely the same. The gameplay itself is still fine, it's like a combination of Galaga & bullet hell shooters with a number of ships to unlock as you progress and local multiplayer for up to 3 people. The graphics look a little better than the first one, with additional filters unlockable during gameplay. If you didn't play the first one but are interested, definitely get this one instead as it feels like a more finished product. If you have the first one, the question is are potentially some minor bug fixes and more graphic options enough to justify buying the game again? I'm sticking with it but leaning towards no, I would rather the original have been fixed because it was a fine game in spite of its flaws.
