A hauntingly beautiful cinematic platformer with stunning black-and-white visuals and a dark, thought-provoking atmosphere. The story is mysterious and unsettling, though the gameplay is short and straightforward. A visual masterpiece for those who love atmospheric experiences." 🎭🖤

This is like an extremely simple Abe's Oddysee crossed with a walking simulator. The puzzles are really, really simple and most of the game is just walking, but don't let that put you off too much. This game looks beautiful, really, really nicely designed. The black and white colour palette has been worked and perfected and, let me tell you, creating black and white isn't that simple to get the tones just right. They've nailed that vintage black and white film asphetic to a tee and for that I take my hat off to them. I enjoyed the game, but wished there was more to do other than just walk.

Terrible game. Stay away. It's obnoxiously and VAPIDLY artsy. It pretends to grapple with topics of racism and oppression but in the end it does nothing with those topics.
Platforming is very basic, sluggish and buggy. It mimics as a game but most of the time you just press directional buttons to make the cut-scene happen. Like a dumb mouse in a hamster wheel. If you don't press and hold a button, the cut-scene won't happen and the game won't let you progress, so you just press and hold for solid 3 - 5 minutes to watch something to happen.
The game is like hodge-podge of vague ideas crudely sewn together. There is no backstory to your character, no sense of agency or urgency and very little player input. It makes you feel like there was a creative team behind this that couldn't or wouldn't criticise each other ideas as not to offend whoever came up with them so they just sorta melted them together, pretending there's a larger meaning behind all of that BS they make the player suffer through.
I don't write bad reviews often but this game deserves it. It wastes your time and money and in the end you're left dumbfounded as if you just watched a cheap a*s attempt at a movie by liberal studies first-graders. Convoluted, self absorbed piece of crap that wouldn't even make a good short animated story, let alone a game. At least it didn't take more than two hours to finish.

I made it about 30 min in and had to stop. The "puzzles" are not the best, but the atmosphere made up for it. The backgrounds are intriguing, and characters unique. However, I will not waste my time with a lame puzzle that takes 5 min of holding shift and right. I am all for immersion but i fail to see how this is applicable here. If you ask me, the game is a waste of your time.

Love this kind of games. Misterious, intriguing, immersive. Limbo like. I could have developed the story more, show you more of the world but it's good for a couple of hours. It's not frustratingly hard, mostly intuitive. It worht it when highly discounted. At full price i don't regard it as good value. I purchased it with 90% discount

Funny, but for a black and white game, it lacks shades of gray. Story really could use some subtlety, as themes and visual metaphors come in heavy as a sledgehammer. Not using a real-world language for in-game signage may have gone a long way here to allow more ambiguity into what was going on. Add to that slow, unengaging gameplay, and I have to give this one a pass.

Dark, sometimes disgusting story. As short as Limbo but with more artistic vibes. Puzzles are mostly simple, sometimes require a few tries. Jump+run is very smooth, it's more about "enjoying" the world building and emotions. I don't regret paying $1.99 or the time spend. My take is, it's about finding your place in the world, notice how others are suffering, and maybe find a way to connect to them, like this game does.

**White Shadows: A black-and-white game that’s full of colorful drama!**
You’re stuck in a dark world full of oppression, and your mission is to escape with a brave girl named Ravengirl—hopefully without losing your mind! The graphics are monochrome, making it feel like you’re watching a classic film, but with puzzles that tickle your brain. The gameplay is simple, but the story and social messages are heavy and deep, making you go serious one moment and chuckle the next. This game shows you that even in the darkest times, light can be found—if you can dodge the enemies!
If you’re after explosive action with lots of guns and swords, this might not be your cup of tea.

As a fan of Inside and Little Nightmares, this was a no-brainer when it cropped up at 90% off.
I loved the world building, even if it was a grim one. The sound and visual combined did give it a yucky and eerie feel that it was going for.
The game looked so good, played well (simple puzzles and platforming, though the flying was a little weird, but hey), and gave me a 3-hour playthrough. I also loved the classical tunes used in this game; it made me feel as if I was watching a cartoon.
Would I recommend? Absolutely, if you can get it at a discount (because it's so short).
My rating: 8/10
*My longer gametime would probably just be me idling for the rest of the cards.
