Clever game. Easy, but enjoyable to solve puzzles and game, Took about 6 hours with bonus game. I'd recommend to hidden puzzle game lovers,

This game was really a mixed bag. The main game was decent enough for a HOG. It has an odd, somewhat confusing story in which you play a detective trying to catch the phantom terrorizing the theater. Nothing is overly difficult; the HO scenes and mini-games are fun and pretty easy, an enjoyable way to pass the time. As with most HOGs, it has a silly story, but it was decent and I enjoyed the gameplay.
Then I finished the main game and started the bonus game and suddenly all conventions went straight out the window. Mini-games suddenly have no logic no clues, and incomplete or incomprehensible instructions, forcing you to guess what you're supposed to do and then brute-force and/or guess your way to the solution (or use the built-in guide to look up the solution).
I had no problem with the main game, but I couldn't solve even the first mini-game in the bonus game. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how the developer could make a decent main game but then make the worst bonus game I've ever seen.

The Dark Cities is a series of really nice casual games. In each one you are a detective, who has to solve a case (robbery, murder etc). The graphics are beautiful, the stories are good, however the music is weak. The puzzles are easy and straightforward; I recommend this especially for those who are new to puzzle / HOG games, or just want a laid-back experience.

Great series, with a good plot yet plenty of HOPs & mini games. You can even choose different endings

DarK City: Vienna is a detective Hidden Object story that is good to play if you're a fan of the HO series. You start by investigating the mystery regarding a masked figure (a direct inspiration from the Phantom of the Opera) and a mystical disappearing muse in the bonus chapter.
PROS:
- Male protagonist!
- Good graphics;
- Good music;
- Journal entries;
- Fast travelling map;
- Varied hidden object games;
- Bundle of extras good to try;
- So many good mini-games;
- Two sets of collectibles that you can spot easily;
- Feels like Charles Dickens' novels mixed with the Phantom of the Opera and any detective story.
NEUTRE:
- It does not give the masked figure's sidekick's point of view.
- The masked figurine isn't a vampire, though he looks like one. :)
CONS:
- The story could be improved;
- A little bit of mystery and imprevisibility wouldn't hurt;
- Voice acting could be better, but it's good as it is;
- Some subtitles don't appear in the male detective's deductions.
Over all, it has been great fun to play this game. Opera houses, competitivity between artists, secrets, love triangles, orphans, opera singers, mystical swami, masked entities, you name it. It was fun and informative.

A great game!
The graphics are good, with enough details and sharp contrast.
The mechanics in the mini-games are obvious (and there are a few of words to state the rules, just in case), the difficulty is just the right level.
No puzzle will take more than a couple of minutes, but then comes the next one. And the next one. :3 This way the game is relaxing, gives the sense of achivement (the story goes in a good rhythm) and the player is kept busy.
p.s.: and the game's logic is present! :D It goes like "Look for the key, to open the door. Then find a knife to open the letter. Light a candle to read it". A little thing, maybe, but also cool!

This was so much fun. I've yet to do the bonus chapters. I played on Casual as there were some new mechanics but I will play later games on a harder difficulty. I enjoyed the story and most of the puzzles (that piano one still throws me) and I thought the game looked good and the voice acting was pretty decent.
