So. You found Trails of the Black Sun. What can you expect?
Maybe a great future.
It feels like a combination of Mirrors Edge, a little Assassins Creed or maybe Prince of Persia. Thats a really good idea with a lot of potential. I really loved the first Mirrors Edge. Parcour elements with some gunplay parts, some secret rooms and a little mystery story. It works. But theres still some room for improvements.
Graphics are minimalistic ... but its working perfect together with the setting.
No big problem with the sound as well. But it would be a big bonus to hear the lovely voice of the narrator more often. :D (Just read out the texts between the missions!)
Most of the time the movement works perfectly. I just experienced wallrun-slowdowns at some parts of the last mission. The game didn't slow down. It seemed i froze down. Reloaded from last checkpoint ... it worked as intended again. Its just a little flaw.
But ... lets go to my biggest problem with the game. The gunplay. I tested every weapon (i think?) ... i like the upgrade system and the design is really good enough for me. I don't need fancy skins or anything else. But the functionality is really limited. The hitbox system of walls / enemies seem a bit off for me. Sometimes it is impossible to hit an enemy next to a wall. The shots get registered by the wall much to often. I really hope thats not my bad aim! :D
The second problem is the damage system. Well ... Sometimes the enemy drops dead after one headshot from your pistol / assault rifle. The next time ... the same enemy gets 10 headshots from close vicinity ... and stays alive ... while killing you.
The last part ... isn't a big problem. I'm just not quite sure if the checkpoint system is working well enough with enemies. After your respawn every enemy still knows where you are and they will start shooting as soon as you are close enough again. After every reset to the last checkpoint ... all killed enemies stay dead. (That can be good) But i would prefer to be able to test another solution to the given problems when loading a checkpoint. Alle enemies shouldn't be alerted and alive. Its a lot more fun to test different approaches.
Just my few thoughts about the game.
Yes. I had a lot of tun. YES. There could even be more fun! But its worth a look. :) Just give it a try! :D

This game....well...this game is nothing but a ctrl+c of assasin´s creed´s animus aesthetics and Mirror's edge motion animation.
Your enemies are templars. You are surrounded by this strange text that you can see in any AC game. Every scenario looks like a place from an AC game. And the movement, the movement ohh...the sweet good movement i'll tell you my problem with it..okay so firstly every parkour movement seems very similar, too much similar to ME's. The wallrun, slide, safety land, swing, the way you move through the ledges, jesus...every parkour animation is somehow same as mirror's edge's parkour animation.
Ah yes almost forgot, theres this eh thing when you takedown an enemy, just like in every Splinter Cell that lets you kill automatically three enemies, maybe its just me but this game has some things that are copied from other games.
Or maybe I am just overthinking it

I'm a big fan of Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge. Visually, the game plays out entirely in the "Animus transition" of Assassin's Creed with the red markers of Mirror's Edge. I really enjoyed that part of the game. Gameplay wise, the Templars are bullet sponges and you really need to land head shots to take them down and even that didn't always work. Be aware of that before playing. Upgrading your character will help somewhat. The second training simulator is brutal. Since the game has been out, the longest video walkthrough I could find on YouTube stopped at this level. I soldiered on to the bitter end of the game. Why the game gets my thumbs down is this - It's not a complete game. The story is about finding 7 relics to release the Queen. Instead, two training missions and three relics later we decide to "wing it" and just try to free her anyways. When you do it's "To Be Continued" with more levels to come later! Sorry, it's Early Release. It's not a full game. There have been titles that have skirted on the Early Release program. One that I know of, for example, which was released with a "To Be Continued" like ending with still 2 chapters left after release. Almost 3 years later, 3 YEARS, and level 4 of 5 is coming out. That's just not right. If you are going to publish a game you release a complete game. If you want to charge more for DLC levels, fine. Paying for a whole game but only receiving part of it with the "hope" of completion is called "Early Release". That's the big negative I have to leave with the review. When the game is "complete" I'll come back and change my review of it.
Gameplay time is roughly 3 hours. Add the extra hour for mostly all the fails in the second training simulation. LOL!!

The idea for a game is pretty cool. Have to admit the game got me hooked during the prologue segment. The parkour seems pretty decent for a AA game. Sadly after completing the prologue I've seen the whole game pretty much. Levels don't lead to one another ;It seems like the developer came up with some level ideas and randomly put them together. There is some story line with artifacts and stuff , but it's pretty generic/boring. The whole point of the game is to get to the portal at the end of each level after getting an artifact. That's it. The gunplay compared to the parkour (which was quite decent as I said) feels extremely junk , not impactful and just not fun. Enemies with a shotgun can sometimes kill you with one shell , because why not , right? The optimalization is horrible. The game shouldn't be that laggy and hardware demanding with how it looks. The biggest downside so far is the length/ price ratio. It took me below 3 hours to finish the game. For 14 euro I was expecting something more than 6 or 7 levels. It feels like a tech demo rather than a full game. They said there will be more levels in the future , however it doesn't justify the fact that the price is way too high for what we got. I completely avoided collecting all the points and looking for secret rooms or killing most of the enemies as it's really boring and repetetive. If not for the movement there would be nothing to do in the game, I've been looking for the full release for some years. Wishlisted the game as soon as the trailer dropped and have to say I am more than disapointed.
