Great game! We need more puzzle games like this nowadays! This is the best version of this type of game, lots of ways to modify gameplay. This game is best for multiplayer.

slime slam is a tetris-like where every piece has 2 halves, like a domino, and the goal is to match at least 4 of the same color to make them disappear. matches don't have to be in a straight line, as long as they're directly connected, it's fine (diagonals don't count). the presentation is very retro, reminiscent of snes-era games. nice pixel graphics, there are even a bunch of level backgrounds to choose from with f12, and the music's not bad either. keyboard, gamepad and joystick(!) are supported and controls are fully rebindable. excellent news, as the defaults are pretty bad (enter for pause?) and it's important to note that the accept and back buttons rotate the pieces. it's not mentioned anywhere, and for an hour I though I could only flip the two colors and everything has to be vertical for some reason. pressing esc anywhere in the menu immediately quits the game, no settings saved if you were in the middle of tinkering with them and didn't manage to back out of a particular set of options. pressing esc also brings you instantly back to the menu while playing, which is a fun way to lose some progress accidentally. since f12 is used for changing the background, you can't take screenshots, and more often than not the game didn't appear on my taskbar after alt+tabbing. volume settings and windowed mode are available, along with a few more settings, not too bad. there are 4 game modes. 30 challenges for single player, 5 types with 6 levels each. make combos, longer matches, clear garbage blocks, etc. I'm not a tetris expert, but I couldn't even do the first level of some, but made good progress with a few of them, until they got too fast. the name of this game mode is apt, to say the least. versus is a competitive mode for 2 local players with some customizability: speed, number of colors, matches necessary (can be as low as 2), garbage block type and strength, etc. you don't need extra controllers for multiplayer, a single keyboard works fine. arcade is for 1 or 2 players, not competitive, fixed rules, no customization, and endless is somewhere in-between, for 1 or 2 players, it's customizable, but not played against each other. all in all, a worthy addition to one's tetris collection, as the presentation is good, it offers multiplayer and plenty of variety and customizability, and the price was not too high either before it went free.
