this game has a great game loop, of going into a rift, getting stuff you need, and upgrading and researching. I love the progression system which isn't traditional leveling, but rather you can pick up new guns on the way, and you add bullets as you upgrade or research them. the combos of different kinds of bullets is also fun and interesting.

5/10. Relatively meh. Nothing in the game hooked me, and the timer prevents you from exploring the game. You pop into a world, have to rush to do stuff, then rush to leave. I've yet to really find or do anything in the portals. Chopping down trees, wee? It's not bad, but I wouldn't spend money on it.

A wonderfully fun game with just the right mix of combat and crafting, a wonderful story, and awesome graphics.

The first hour of the game is fun, and it seems like there is a lot of potential here. Unfortunately, the game never capitalizes on its potential. The crafting loop is repetitive and unsatisfying, The upgrades don't do anything interesting, the core game play loop becomes less and less engaging as the game drags on. The difficulty remains stagnant with a rock-paper-scissors approach to damage types and very little build variety. The theme, soundtrack, and setting are engaging and interesting, but they cant make up for the fact that the game just isn't that much fun. 3/7

Such a disappointingly passable game... It had *SUCH* high potential for the gimmick, but its nearly entirely lost on having direct "gun but stronger" and "ammo tier +1" stuff... it could've been the next Noita, but they preferred to give you a thousand miles of repeated trials. it was a mistake to see it through, it was a fools desire.

A lot of fun especially with friends. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that
fire bullets with an oil trail don´t actually ignite the trail they leaves behind.
:(

A sad yet good miss with Devolver Just to get this out of the way. This games development team sorta got pushed out by the Unity problem during 2024, because of this Wizard with a gun never got any of that sweet post production energy like Cult of the lamb dose today. :( Wizard with a gun dose exactly what the title says, makes you a wizard that uses guns. The game plays with a similar vibe to Don't starve, the top down survival craft like. The main difference being instead of needing food, warmth, light, etc, your now on a race against the clock to gather materials and objectives before the end of the world starts. The cool thing about this was the fact you could go back to the hub area through portals you could unlock to plan and craft what you needed in order to keep going back and to last longer to gathering more each time. With every trip the world would also re-arrange it's self to keep things fresh and never a dull experience. Enemy design and placement is fantastic and also add a separation from each environment. The only real problem is some can hit like a 500 pound truck going over 100 miles a hour. The main problems were balancing and just having too much variety while not being simple or fun to learn. Having roughly 8 types of bullets (not including sub types) you'ed think that there would be plenty of ways of having fun with the game... well not really. Damage when using anything else except fire, ice, and lightning bullets will basically hit like a wet noodle. Even trying to be creative with different gun wands (there are a crap ton) you will normally gravitate to ones that actually manage to do something that affects you like damage or way of firing. There are also different spell combos I also thought might have been possible but sadly aren't witch can really stump the creativity of trying certain spells as well. I don't normally go off on how good the world building is but MY GOD. Wizard with the a gun has some of the best sets of lore I have gotten to read, but that also is a double edged sword to some people. Reading has got to be one of the most longest parts of this game. I mean if you have a achievement dedicated to having read or at the very least FOUND every piece of lore I feel like you might have too much text in your game, and I haven't even gotten to the fact you have to scan every NPC and piece of furniture. The only reason I state that last part as a problem is because some important unlocks or just some sweet threads are kept behind scanning EVERY NPC, some are simple and just very fast, others will curb stomp just for looking at them funny. It's a cool concept but can get extremely tedious on later points. This also isn't saved between characters which isn't that bad except skins that you might have liked. The OST is pretty nice with trying to combo a western vibe with slight synth-ish tones and vibes. On a bonus note if you buy the OST on steam you get a conductor skin for use in your current and future files/ play throughs. While I have my own gripes, this game was never really meant to be bad it just didn't get to have the love it deserved because of circumstances involving a greedy CEO wanting to ruin something to make a extra buck. This game may be crusty, but it's still pretty fun to play and has online co-op if you have a friend. I hope this helped and thank you for reading
