Controls are a bit wonky, but the atmosphere is fantastic. No jump scares - just creeping dread. Short and simple.

Okaeri was the very first Chilla's Art game I had ever played, and also one of the first games that got me into playing horror games on PC in general! It made a great impression on me, got me very interested in trying out even more Chilla's Art games, and I soon became a huge fan of them. Okaeri is most likely their shortest game and a bit bare bones compared to their other titles, but it is still a solid horror game and doesn't need to be overly detailed or lengthy with how the plot & setting is. Also, the house has a creepy, unsettling atmosphere and I loved exploring it.

Considering how short おかえりis that can be completed within 20-30 minutes, I recommend buying this on sale due to the amount of gameplay you get by pressing "E", solving an easy puzzle, and walking around. The ambiance was creepy, a little unsettling in some scenes, and the loud banging noises throughout the house can catch you off guard, but that's pretty much it. I had to turn off the film grain in the options due to the filter making it hard to see things in the dark. I wanted to enjoy the details of the game's environment, despite me enjoying VHS horror in general. Nonetheless, the achievements in this game were easy to get and the story's pretty straightforward. I think this game is nice if you want to play a short horror game and you're a fan of Chilla's Art!
