A great game that captures the feel of a BSG rogue like scenario with and FLT or Into the Breach vibe. Really great systems and designs in place. Looking forward to where it's going to go from here. GREAT WORK KEEP IT UP!

After playing through about a dozen runs so far and being exiled on each and every one I can honestly say that I am excited by what this game is and i'm looking forward to what it will become. The fleet drafting is surprising and clever, and the resource management is suitably desperate but it's the morale, population, and factions that give you the cues that take this from an interesting puzzle to set of systems from which you can discern a story. A short vignette of struggle and hope. There is still a lot of room to go, but the bones of something interesting are here. If you were a fan of Seedship, I would highly recommend it.

I've long been a fan of scifi fiction that covers not just the space battles, but also exploration, politics, and morale, all of which In Search of a Home touches upon. The core game is compelling, even in this very early stage of development, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here!

Never finished and the gameplay was just about beating the clock no story or action, DO NOT BUY

I can see the idea they were going for but it fell short at every point. The game is slow, boring, heavily reliant on RNG, and meticulous. Probably won't be getting any updates so I'd avoid this one.

In Search of a Home is a quest to cross the galaxy, trying to keep your straggling fleet alive, your populace happy, your ships repaired and fueled, and the politicians appeased, all while scrambling to find a new home out there somewhere in the blackness of space. In the current early access release, there is solid gameplay to start with, managing balancing the wants of your population and factions with the needs of getting from system to system until you are successful...in your search of a home. Each system you jump to is an opportunity to scan for and gather resources to feed your people, upgrade your ships, make sure you have enough fuel to jump onward--but do so quickly, or else your people will become restless, and display growing unease and eventually rise up against you. This game can be a bit brutal--I have not won it yet, in spite of at least a couple hours of gameplay (both in the Alpha and the current EA release). It runs in real-time (or 4x real time to speed up certain gameplay), so you won't get a much rest to plan your next move. I look forward to the ongoing development, and can't wait to see what's coming up next!

In Search of a Home does a great job of evoking that Battlestar Galactica feeling of managing a fleet in dire trouble. The survival roguelite / time management sim gameplay does a good job capturing the feel of desperately trying to save your people through one close scrape after another. Moment to moment gameplay is a satisfying optimization problem of managing resources and timers with a little risk management. There are also cool builds (starting fleet comps) that you can run to try different survival strategies. The game is early in development but I'm excited to see where it goes.

Game is a beat the clock game. Very little animation, very little action, and the clock is moving at an incredible rate. (The only way I can see at this point to win the game is to just move and ignore everything.) NOT AN ACTION GAME. This is a game for people who aren't into action or story lines or animations. A bit disappointed if I am honest. The positives are: it isn't time intensive, you can multitask while doing it, and you won't forget where you were if you have to walk away and come back. Very much like some of the old beat the clock games on the Apple IIGS or early to mid 80s games if you are into nostalgia. If you are looking for a challenge and like this type of game, then I would recommend it.

4 cores on 3.2 ghz cpu, 2gb graphics card on 128 and 8 gb ram is not enough to keep this .gif game running smooth at low settings... why?

Developer quit developing this after 1 patch. Dev company doesnt exist anymore (check the social links above, they are all dead.) and the only twitter account that mentions the company has moved on to other things. Gameplay was slow, with no animations and it felt very boring. I didnt return it because I thought it was a cool concept that just needed work. But now the dev abandoned it and im reminded why I dont buy early access games anymore.
