I like everything that is going on right now, but I do feel like there could be other things that could be better. I wish there were more options on decoration that we could make ourselves, it would be fine if we get more blueprint of them. I think the event 'special guest' is glitch? I open during that event but didn't see any special guest. I do think that the farming system is a bit lacking, I really want a seed maker. It just cost so much to buy from the market, especially when starting off broke. I also thought that only 1 or 2 seed dropping when harvesting could be better. Like maybe dropping the seed each harvested plant or dropping 5. I wish there were more quest and interaction with the npc. The world could be expended more, I wish to explore more than just the market, the beach, and the farm. I also want to talk about the issues of the chest in co-op joining room. My friend said they couldn't open the chest. OVerall, this game is starting off good, just need a bit more things.

My Honest Recommendation for Travellers Rest (Early Access) Even though Travellers Rest is still in Early Access — and has been for over five years — I genuinely enjoy it and recommend it, especially if you appreciate games that combine farming, crafting, and management with a clear purpose. What really sets it apart from similar games like Stardew Valley is the meaning behind your actions. You're not just growing crops or fishing to sell for money or to fulfill quests — you're doing it for your tavern. Every action, whether it's harvesting, cooking, brewing, or decorating, ties into running and upgrading your own inn. That purpose makes the gameplay loop more satisfying and personal. Yes, I admit that there's only about half the content I’d like to see in a game like this — and that I even had moments when I didn’t like it as much. But I still have over 46 hours in the game and didn’t refund it, because I see real potential, and more importantly: I respect the direction the developers are going. I would personally love to see: More main and side quests, to bring the world and local characters to life. A larger and more dynamic map, with more places to explore. Mines (not “mines” as in traps — I mean resource-gathering mines, like in Stardew Valley) where we can dig underground to find rare crafting materials and possibly even magical or legendary ingredients. Maybe even some combat or dungeon elements — even if minor — to diversify the gameplay. That said, the team updates the game roughly every 3 months, which is impressive. It shows commitment, unlike some Early Access titles that disappear for years with no word. And I understand that sometimes developers face hard personal or financial times — and as long as they communicate openly about it, I fully support giving them time and space. If you’re okay with a game that’s still in development and missing a few big systems — but has heart, purpose, and steady progress — I definitely recommend Travellers Rest. If I had to guess, I think we’ll see a 1.0 full release in about a year to a year and a half, and I’m genuinely excited to see where it ends up.

The tutorial is just walls of texts, with no visual prompts to guide you where you need to be or what you need to click. I thought this was a fun and relaxing game, but no you have to play detective with all the guesswork on what this cat is talking about because you are not familiar with everything at first. Granted you may be able to familiarize everything given time but I just couldn't be bothered to play more of it just to be reading allat stuff half the time. I was really looking forward to playing it because the premise was actually nice, the execution however, left so much to be desired.

I enjoyed the game well enough but it feels very soulless and empty also the updates are few and far between, so many areas are blocked off and the few "major" updates they put out are for pets and other things that don't really add anything to the game. For 5 years in Early access they should have a LOT more to show for it, at this rate the game will never be complete.

Travellers Rest would have been great....if the tutorial didn't last like a week in-game. And it's not the kind where you gets tips in between while playing the game, you basically stay mostly in the inn for a couple of days cuz it's important to learn the mechanics of the gameplay, WHICH I understand cuz Travellers Rest is a very overwhelming game to learn and master. This is not like Stardew Valley, this game will feel like a whiplash at the start. If you think it's like SV or have expectations similar to it, you're in for a disappointment cuz it's definitely a unique game and closest similarity is like....Diner Dash. The one thing that I really dislike about this game is the mechanic where I need wood, coal, etc.? just to craft something. Now, normally this wouldn't be a dealbreaker if it was just 1 or 2 workarea that requires to chop or mine wood and coal to be able to craft an item...but with at least 5 or more craft machines that require wood/coal to be able to craft an item? that part is what got me turned away. And I just knew if I keep playing this game, it would feel repetitive and theres not really much growth. I don't think there's character development that gives you. as a player, to sink into the game. It's basically managing an inn with food and bed basically. I don't recommend this game at this stage since it's early access, I believe? I could only hope the developers improve and make better changes before the full game. So I can't give my full review since it wouldnt be fair to give on an early access game

Honestly, at almost 200 hours I will say I love this game. But what really keeps me playing is the small attention to details. Please continue to put small details in the game, such as the food changing when customers order or the drinks (some don't change but eh, I love it regardless) and it actually shows what they order as they eat. I have never played a pixel game as far as management that is so detailed. I want you guys to continue this. Yes for now this is a mindless grind and it does lack events but me personally. I love a mindless management game or one that you have to think about because you can tell where they put though and work into. The loading screen icon, the animals (Please I need a hamsterball in my Tavern rolling around) or the dog. Fishing and everything else, honestly if this is a restaurant/chef management I would never stop playing. Anyways, love this game and sorry for the TLDR.

the updates have changed the game for the worst, building is one of the most aggravating aspects to this game since you cant move doors only erase them and you cant change the entrance location or the placement of the stairs.

I really wanted to enjoy Traveller’s Rest. It has a cozy premise and a “Very Positive” rating, which convinced me to give it a try. Unfortunately, the actual experience was deeply disappointing. After finishing the short tutorial and intro (about 2 hours), I was surprised to find... that was basically it. No further quests, no real progression, no overarching goals, just a very barebones gameplay loop. It feels like a tech demo rather than a game that’s been in Early Access since 2020. Even more surprising, the game still doesn’t have Chapter 1 implemented after five years of development. That crucial piece of info is nowhere on the store page, which makes the “Very Positive” rating feel incredibly misleading. I wasted time and money expecting something deeper to reveal itself, but it never did. There are cheaper Early Access titles out there with far more content and structure, even most of demos have more playable content. I requested a refund after 5 hours and was denied. So now I’m leaving this review to hopefully save someone else the time and frustration. If you’re looking for a cozy management sim with actual progression, look elsewhere, at least until this game sees meaningful updates.

I just want to preface this review by saying that this game is NOT like Stardew Valley. Or at least, not fully like Stardew. Whilst it does have the same resource gathering gameplay and minigames (such as fishing, farming, mining, murdering the wildlife), it does not have ANY of the social aspect that Stardew Valley and other similar games usually have. You essentially only have the merchants to whom you can talk, and even then it’s the same 10 lines repeated over and over again (which is to say, not much). It also has practically no story, except for what is contained in the 2 hour long tutorial. However, I really enjoyed this game. If you enjoy the money-making side of Stardew or of any other game (like I did), and don’t really mind a lack of social and story elements, then this game will be for you. There are a lot of different recipes you can unlock, which all use a ton of ingredients, which you can all produce yourself or buy if you don’t feel like spending time gardening, and they all have a different impact on your dishes. Plus, the customization system of your tavern is really vast, with a lot of different decorations that all positively impact the reputation that your tavern gets. It took me around 50ish hours of non-AFK gameplay to complete all the achievements (which really is the only goal there currently is in the game) and I enjoyed absolutely all of it, so it’d fully recommend buying this game. Just keep in mind, as I’ve previously stated, this game is not like Stardew Valley, and that it’s still in early access, so there’s a lot of stuff that isn’t fully there yet or straight up isn’t there.

I am really sorry to say this...but with the best of intentions I can't recommend this game as is. Does it have beautiful art, lovely soundtracks, a breathtaking style and engaging gameplay? Absolutely. Is it as of now a hollow, repetitive, pointless mess? Totally. The core gameplay, design and the entire idea are all marvelous but this game released for early access in 2020.....Since then no meaningful way to interact with the world has been added. There is literally 0 sign of any storyline except for the tutorial. The world is small and apart from repeated dialogues and a few first encounters interactions with all NPCs are repetitive and boring. Speaking of repetitive and boring while the tavern building/farming/animal husbandry and food%drink crafting aspects of the game are amazing they become rinse and repeat after maybe 3 season's / 1 year's worth of in-game time. If the NPCs were more fleshed out, if there were seasonal events, storylines or any sign of a plot after 5 years I would totally adore this game as my top 5 on steam but there is absolutely no trace of that. And now after 5 years development and an entire team working on it we got a f*ing extended pet and multiplayer system for a game that has literally no damn storyline, plot or any engagement with anything other then the land during planting, animals and the kitchen and cellar utensils. If it ever gets finished I will highly recommend this game but until then I'd say do not buy it for it has been 5 years without any sign of reaching 1.0 and as it stands now the project will probably get dropped.
