Been looking for a decent fishing game for a little while as something cozy to play and chill to. Im not into fishing irl and havent actually picked up a rod for over 20years. Ive tried COTW:the Angler, UFS 1 and fishing planet and have to say this game is the best of the bunch. --No predatory microtransactions ($2000 for forever access to a damn fishing game FP? seriously?!) -- not overly arcadey, not overly difficult to understand for total beginners, but with a ton of depth you can dig into later on. and in my limited irl experience, this game just "feels" right. Issues: I use a controller as it just feel a little more immersive (for most games tbh!) When you have the menu open (to pick a rod, go to inventory, shop etc) your actions in the background are not frozen. Lots of times while trying to select a rod setup, i hear the sounds of my character trying to cast off in the background, or start jumping etc. Its weird seeing your character sidestep because youre moving the cursor left to right in a menu! Also, sometimes the controls seem to get a little confused. Around 70% of the time after catching a fishy, i go to cast again (right trigger on my controller) and ....nothing. I have to tap left bumper to do a mini cast, stop it mid air, then hold right trigger for a few seconds until the cast bar thing pops up at the bottom. Only other thing i found a little frustrating was the shop. this could be my issue as i know sod all about fishing, but when buying a new rod, all my old kit became useless as it was not compatible. after a little checking, i THINK youre supposed to match "levels" - so a level 3 rod with level 3 reel etc, but not sure. maybe some sort of compatibility filter in the shop may help? like it detects your rods, you select which one your setting up for and it then only shows you what will fit your rod? I dont know. seems like a lot of moaning, but honestly i wouldnt bother if i didnt like the game. as I said its the best fishing game ive tried so far, and probably the one ill stick with for my chill sessions. would def recommend, even after only a few hours!

UFS1 was the best vr fishing game and still is but if this gets a vr dlc it would be the most realistic and funnest fishing vr game ever for a long time (i want a vr dlc)

I was iffy about the reviews for this, but really playing it. It’s amazing. It’s its own different game, but it’s own way, of course it’s not gonna be the same as the first one, but that’s kind of a good thing in this regard it’s trying to be its own thing but keep the same formula, just like the first game there’s so much 💩 to do. I barely crossed the threshold. 9/10

Multiplayer lacks of interaction, no benefit of playing it. Bugs. Unclear rules of tournament, some high level idi000t joining weight based tournament 30minutes before it ends just to ruin new players record. FK YOU BOLEE AND FK UR M0M

Played this game for a long time and went all the way through every map. The positives first: 1) Fish hook pretty quickly. 2) Maps are diverse and so are fish. 3) Error 404 additional reasons not found. On to the bad stuff: 1) Fish are VERY difficult to catch. Not the small stuff, those are fun and challenging. I fought a shark for an hour. 1 hour of my life before he swam all the way to the end of my line and I got fed up, turned my trim to 100% and broke him off. 2) The game isn't finished. End of story. The last map has a huge area of water surrounding an island. Around the island there are a lot of fish but away from it there's nothing. My friend and I boated for 10 minutes to the edge of the map and there were no fish after the 1 minute mark. 3) There are fish in the encyclopedia you cant catch. A blue marlin is listed in the encyclopedia but isn't located on any of the maps. The maps say what fish they have and multiple do not exist in the game. 4) Your house has a massive aquarium you can't use. Fish can only go in the aquarium if they're under 30 lbs or so, which is very few, and there's a HUGE aquarium taking up the center of your house that you can't put anything in. TLDR: I don't regret getting the game, I'm glad I only paid $7. If it's ever actually finished I'll amend this review. I did have fun, only because I played with a friend.
