This is a massive downgrade from Ultimate Fishing Simulator (1).
Seeing my buddy, was not necessarily worth the price of admission.
This is quite buggy and visually no where near as good at the first game.
Nothing about this game is the same as the first, this game feels like it saw Fishing Planet and felt it needed to try and copy the worst elements of that.
To summarize:
Between a confusing menu, bugged out game mechanics and a terrible downgrade in visual fidelity, I'd say save your money and stick with the first game.

If you enjoyed Ultimate Fishing Simulator 1... This is not the game for you. UFS2 is a massive step backwards from the first game. The thing that drew me in was being able to see your friends in multiplayer, which the first just did not have (you ain't fooling no one, that big floating bubble your friends appear as is an insult!) HOWEVER, that's the ONLY thing UFS2 has over UFS1.
Outside of that, its a downgrade in visuals, a downgrade in fishing, a downgrade in effects. There's no ripples on the water, from your line or the fish. And half the time when I hooked a fish, they shot out of the lake and got stuck in the ground anyway...the rest of the time, the fish casually swam towards me in the air.
Screen-space reflections provided by the Unity engine are a huge no-no in a fishing game, as the lake constantly has your rod and hands grossly reflected over the top of everything. It looks ugly, the devs put ZERO effort in here, and it really shows.
I get that the game is early access, so will I refund? Possibly not... but they have a long way to go before UFS2 is even close to the standard of UFS1.
Can not recommend. Not even worth the $2.50 on sale.

Ok. I was a game tester back in the 1980s for Broderbund Software. I know how important feedback is as well as reporting bugs and other issues. As a veteran gamer of 47 years and a programmer and developer for 37 years I understand the drive for improvement from preceding revs.....
So here goes...
The underwater view is blurry most of the time.
The casting, with mouse and controller, is not smooth. The tutorial instructions are not clear.
There is no longer the hunter view. The "eagle eye" is worthless as a feature.
Having the FPV not tracking the boats heading makes driving the boat clumbsy and not fun.
There is some bleeding of the fishing rod, like vibrating tracing against the sky background.
The overall game layout and flow is easier to follow and not as busy in the UFS1. I just want to fish, not relearn what doesnt feel as a gamer to be improvements.
On a positive note the graphics are nicer. The location scenery and the equipment.
Ive only seen one fish. A barracuda and it looked dead and its contorted posture was not appealing.
i spent five hours noodling around and went back to UFS1 because its therapeutic for me and version 2 made me frustrated and anxiety ridden and that effects my work productivity negatively and thats no good.
I will pay attention to anything else I observe moving forward.

Appreciate this is early access but the game is terrible. There's zero feedback when you trick a fish into eating your bait. There's no striking in to a fish, if it takes the bait it's a guaranteed hook up. Playing the fish is where it hurts the most though, You constantly reel in at a lunatic pace, but the line is retrieved like a snail crawling back to you, It looks stupid, it feels jarring and I can't see how anyone who's done any angling would enjoy this absolute turd of a game.. 3/10

The game is almost unplayable, It has way to many bugs to be fun, Item's are way overpriced. The game play sucks, The sound sucks, you have to pray you don't crash when using the menu. There is a lack of fishing locations a huge lack of fishing equipment. Just maybe it will receive an update once a year. The game hasn't received any ground breaking updates in 2 years, it was only supposed to be in early access for 6 months but still is 3 years later.
The only cool thing about the game are the aquariums and trophy system in your personal area.

Good to pickup while on sale! Game is janky while reeling in some fish. But its a good foundation if the devs really commit
and work on it it could be better than fishing planet! "IF"

Love the game only big complaint is on the residence. The trophy fish need to at least be organized and displayed better as they look like crap. I also think it would be more fish friendly and look neater just to have photo trophies with the the fishes stats and catch location, having the photos clickable to display a 3d model of the catch would be awesome but probably asking way to much.

This oughta be the buggiest early access game I have ever played.
You can barely even fish.
I would give it the ol "well its early access" but even after an update with fixes, ya'll only managed to break the game even more xD
Go play UFS1 if u want a good UFS game and RF4 is another choice for a fishing game. I would also check out Fishing grind.
Stay away from fishing planet though, unless you ready to sell ya freetime.

I really like this game more than fishing planet. But it's pretty bugged out. Bottom fishing is impossible the bait falls under the map. There is no shad grub or tube jigging. And %50 of the time when fighting a big fish they just get stuck and dont move at all. I would love for this game to get some work done on it. Even more so now that COTW the angler is discontinued.
