Well done, a game with mechanics, a beginning and an ending.

Spider man without the man. Sling webs, eat flies, and die.

While I love Sokpop and this game was made well, I couldn't fully beat it without looking up several things on google to teach me how to play it. For my first 20 ish minutes on the game I didn't know how to create a web, or how to connect them to get flies so I can continue on in an easy way. Truly, while the controls are hard, I think all this game needed was just a tad more tutorial in the beginning. I had no idea what I was doing until I googled the controls and watched a few YouTube videos, never mind the fact that you have to make a HUGE web to catch the boss at the end, which I don't think I would've guessed on my own. I enjoyed the game, and I did complete it, I just think there's some things that would've made it much easier to play, and for that reason I can't really recommend the game. That being said, it's a very cute concept! If this game were to have updates, I'm sure it could be made much better with a few tweaks! :)

The more you play it the more you hate it.
At first it is fun, you "beat" the game and you have a fun time.
Then you realize "hmm I didn't get the achievement for beating the game"
& when you go back to beat it you notice every annoying bug (NO PUN INTENDED) you are SO slow when you need food, making webs grows tedious over time, and the worst part is if you close it you loose all your progress.
So in conclusion, if you play for a bit you will enjoy but it can get lame if you play more than one game.

Spiderponds was an enjoyable game, though I found some part a bit difficult. The story was short but enjoyable - and had a little bit of a twist at the end. One of my top recommendations from Sokpop, provided you like the genre.

I appreciate what Sokpop do and I'll buy more of their games that look good, but this one isn't recommended.
Frustrating controls, frustrating enemy design and frustrating level design mean this ends up as a whole lot of frustration.
It's a total pain to get the spider to go where you want it to, even when using as few webs as possible. It really doesn't like choosing the path you want with just mouse controls. Dodging the frogs is fine, but the other spiders are a total pain, you can't get past them, so you end up having to kite them into the frogs area and HOPE that the frog sees them, then HOPE that the frog reacts in time to kill them, which ends up being every tenth time or so. So you repeat this kiting for ages, eventually getting past the spider, what's up next? More spiders, same tactic, same frustration.
And bear in mind that when you die, some of the spawn points are low enough that the frogs can get you, so sometimes you die, then die again because the spider wouldn't go on the web that you wanted. It's brilliant.
It takes 30-40 minutes to beat this game, but only 20% of people do. I don't think I'm the only one that's frustrated with it.
Edit, so after a second go the next day, I've beaten the game. It took me 13 minutes, so 51 total now. I had more fun this time now that I know how the game works slightly, but I still don't really recommend it. I feel like I lucked through this time with frogs killing spiders when I needed them to. It doesn't feel fun having to play around the bad control scheme and clunky design. I really like the idea of the game, but the execution falls flat.

The game's concept is fine, and it IS almost fun. Unfortunately, the slow pace and unreliable controls make it more frustrating to play than fun. I'm glad I beat it, but I can't see myself ever coming back to it.
Web swinging without web slinging
Spider Ponds is a novel title, and a difficult one. Unfortunately, most of that difficulty stems from its awkward control scheme. I was on the higher end of the 45 minute runtime - it was a while before I realized the red flashing was hunger pangs instead of fear from croaking frogs.
It's worth a shot at whatever price point you're comfortable with for 30-45 minutes.
