This game is a lot of fun and is a different take on the typical tower defense game. I really enjoy the different abilities for each of the unlockable characters and how they really switch the game strategy.

Really solid game with a novel multiplayer premise. Played with my partner for a few hours last night and every match was a nail biter.
As a TD game, I think this gets it right in that you only need ~4 types of towers and ~4 types of units. There is enough variety there to have lots of different strategies. I get annoyed by TD games with dozens of towers and hundreds of units because at some point if feels like you're playing a spreadsheet keeping track of all the stats.

This one is a tentative recommend based on the singleplayer experience. It kept me playing match after match today and I think I'll be playing more of it.
Gameplay is based on building up three resources gold, favor, and a sort of upgrade gauge for big base expansions and unlocking more powerful units. Average match for me has been five to ten minutes. There are five playable gods, who each have a different mix of powers, with some overlapping powers. Plus each god has unique passives. The units and towers are standard across factions so the variety relies on each gods traits and powers making them play a bit different. For me I find the gods different enough to enjoy as properly different factions.
The content offered isn't a huge amount but what's there feels pretty polished. No bugs so far, and the visuals are simple, clean, and pleasant to look at. The gameplay starts deceptively easy and before you know it the enemy is burying you with units and you're fighting for your life. It's those matches where the AI surprises you with its tenacity that engaged me enough to play again back match after match. It's been a really fun time trying it this weekend.
BUT. There is a massive caveat. The UI is rough. All the building, god powers, nearly EVERYTHING is on this radial wheel menu that is a chore to use. Example, let's say I need to build spearman to attack the enemy in the top lane of the board. I must open the radial wheel, click the spearman, then that that takes me to another radial wheel where I have to choose the direction and click. This is just... not necessary for a PC tower defense.
A possible alternative might be binding all units, towers, and god powers to hotkeys (rebindable preferably). Let's say I press the hotkey for spearman and the mouse is now locked to dropping a spearman each time I press left click. Then I can just mouse to whichever lane and click as many times as I like. Then when I'm done I can right click to release the lock to place spearmen, or alternatively I can just press another hotkey to change what my left click is locked to. This should give you some precious seconds back to react to the enemy, and that can sometimes make a significant difference.
The UI isn't bad enough to prevent my recommendation, and I can understand that there may be crossplay challenges that caused the game to get more of a console/mobile UI. But it is an everpresent annoyance that holds the game back at like a 7/10 experience instead of an 8 or 9. As of writing the game is on sale for five dollars and it is absolutely worth that. Even ten dollars to me feels really reasonable. Full price will probably feel a bit much for what you're getting, so just wait for a sale and give Sons of Ra a try.

I played a lot of tower defense games, but this "jumping" radial wheel for building towers and units is just terrible, sorry.

This is one of the most frantic Tower Defense Versus games I have ever played. It is a relatively simple game but there is a lot of depth to what you can do strategy wise which makes it really good. I just really wish the developers would update it more. There is a lot of potential here and everything is pulled off really well but it seems they don't work on it anymore.
Besides all of that, I would absolutely recommend this game. It's a blast playing against your friends!

Fun quick RTS game, certainly easy to learn, and balanced. Wish more people played it though.

This is a fast and simple game. And as such, it can be fun. However, in single player it didn't really hold my interest. (Full disclosure: I am a scholar of ancient Egyptian history, and I was looking forward to this game for lighthearted breaks from study.) But I do have to wonder whether it's actually worth fifteen bucks. I think for that I would have expected something more. Perhaps for multiplayer (which admittedly I haven't tried)?

first off i did have some fun but not enough to were i would recommend it to a friend, currently only two game modes arcade and multiplayer if you decide to play arcade the first half of its fun but then the ai decides to roll up its sleeves and just decimate you and it just starts being not fun anymore not to mention its kinda unfair that the player has to unlock unites and towers and the ai from what i saw doesn't have to.
like i said it was fun then it just got frustrating and stopped being fun and i mean you'd think for a tower defense game there would be a survival mode, as dumb as it sounds i like the art style and kinda want to see where this game can go.
UPDATE:Unfortunately it appears this game is now abandoned

Alright quick review under 2 hours played. It's a FAST paced tower defense with all controls done through the mouse. That brings me to what I dislike so far. Tower defense is cool and all but when I have to hold a mouse button down then select a defense/offense/power by sliding the mouse then placement after that. It's just not intuitive. It should be abilities and units are selected with the keyboard and placement is through the mouse. That would allow the player to place units and abilities WAY faster.
Bugs: Through my time with multiplayer I've seen a few bugs. Other Opponents units don't show up at all. Not tower no nothing. So It's not just on my end but the other user too.
Its day one but they've got some controls and bugs to work out.
Looks good enough though but i'm not going to recommend this game to others at this time due to the couple of bugs I've seen and the atrocious controls.
Edit: Coming back in for a quick review change. I appreciate Otter Outta Water reaching out to me! Holding shift instead of right click was a literal game changer for me! Great game and bug free since the last few updates! Great game! Keep up the good work.

It's really good. Negative comments are from players with few hours played. There is a lot of depth in this game and it can't be explored within 1-2 hours. Parting with our money can be difficult. This one is worth it.
