AUSSIES... IN... SPAAAAACE!
Henry Mosse and the Wormhole Conspiracy is a game that was on my radar for quite a while, and I am really glad it's finally out and I am able to play it. This is a lighthearted adventure game in the vein of The Inner World or Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bonetown. I had originally supported this game through a crowdfunding campaign which was unfortunately not successful, so I salute the developers for pushing through that setback and putting out such an enjoyable experience. The game is suitable for all ages, and while I enjoyed it as an adult, I would especially recommend it if you are shopping for children in the ~9-11 age range.
The game follows a 15-year-old boy who works a planetary delivery gig with his mother, a former space explorer. Henry is a good kid, but a bit of a troublemaker, and he longs for adventure. One day, when his mother in on her way to a meeting with a shady businessman, he stows away and tags along. Hijinks ensue, and he eventually ends up as a fugitive, wanted by a nefarious intergalactic megacorp. The Mosse family seeks to repair a machine of great power that is capable of turning the tables on the evil rich folks and undoing the damage they have done. The actual telling of the story is a little choppy, but it's still not terribly hard to follow.
The game's tone is light and humorous, but not specifically jokey. References to other IPs are kept to a tasteful minimum. The game's humor mostly comes from Henry's cheerful attitude in the face of intergalactic destruction and unchecked corporate greed, as well as a cast of colorful characters. We meet such characters as a pair of ultra-chill bouncers, a robot suffering from major party fatigue, an apathetic dragon, and a temperamental child-sized fruit fly.
The game looks good, with the visual highlights being being the character design, and the animated comic-book style introductions to each chapter. The internal backgrounds look good too, though some of the external backgrounds feel a little unfinished in places. The animations are smooth and the overall impression the game gives is that it is bright and modern and colorful.
The game's soundtrack makes use of live orchestral instrumentation provided by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, and boy when those instruments kick in it's very impressive. The decision to go with actual scored pieces was a very good one, it really brings a punch of pizzazz that raises the overall quality of the game. In addition, the game is fully voiced and well-cast. It sounds as though the majority of the cast is Australian, and as an American myself, it was nice to play a game that wasn't just all-American-all-the-time.
It is clear that a lot of effort was put into keeping the puzzles logical and solvable. None of the game's puzzles involve moon logic, though some do require careful observation. I appreciate that many puzzles have multiple solutions or approaches. A few of the more complex puzzles also have a "skip puzzle" option for if you are truly stuck, but I found that option to not be necessary at all. The game is linear for the first few chapters, but then things really open up, and you are allowed backtrack, and fly from planet to planet as you solve puzzles.
Unfortunately, I have encountered some technical issues in my playthrough so far. Most of them have been very minor audio glitches, where for a handful of lines of dialogue, the audio file is missing, or edited incorrectly (for instance, the text says X, and the character says X+Y. Then the line changes, and the text says Y, and the character repeats Y a second time). There is currently one major bug related to the audio, however. By default, dialogue is unskippable, so if you start a conversation, you are on rails until people finish talking. There is an option to toggle a skip-dialogue-on-click feature, which would be welcome but unfortunately this option is not currently working as intended (it freezes the conversation entirely). I expect this will soon be patched.
All in all, though, this is a solid game. My final verdict: If you like adventures, you should check it out. While not particularly groundbreaking, this is a fun adventure with some good music and a local Australian flare, and it will keep you entertained from start to finish.

What a fun point and click adventure! I liked the colorful cartoon graphics and the comedic sci-fi story very much. I liked the Mother/Son dynamic and how it fit into the story. And hearing the Australian voice overs makes me wish there were more adventure games with Australian characters!
There was a unique aspect to the game I thought was clever. There are two sections that have multiple ways to solve a problem. So if you are stuck on an aspect presented, then you can try another way. Or on a second playthrough, you can do things differently for different achievements.
The puzzles were logical and fit into the story and I thought the challenge level was just right. There is an in-game hint system and for a couple of the main challenges there is a skip option, but I recommend figuring them out yourself. There is only one autosave slot, but it saves every time you walk into a new area.
My play time was between 10-11 hours and and I enjoyed myself throughout. Henry Mosse was well worth my time and the game price. I would love to see more games from these developers. I highly recommend to point and click adventure fans!

I was unsure about this one after watching the trailer. Nothing really stood out about it that caught my interest. I ended up getting it because of the point-and-click genre (which I love) and the nature of the few (3? 4?) reviews that were up.
That said, I actually think it's great!! It has made me laugh out loud a lot of times and I have really really enjoyed my play time so far. There is a surprisingly lot of things to interact with (which I love) and I find I am really enjoying the art style! (It's a lot more thoughtful and detailed than you'd think). I love how many different areas there have been so far too.
The voice acting is aces -natural and smooth; not stilted like in some games - and it's so much fun! The characters really come to life through their voices. Even the vending machine! ( I thought she was just great)
I am not done yet - not sure how far I am from the end but I'm hoping there's quite a bit more to go - it's hard to tell from the few reviews I've read (also, as a note, I've left the game on some, so my current playtime is not accurate).
If you are looking for a fun, relaxing, silly, immersive and pretty point and click game with just the right amount of adventure, this one's for you! I got this on a bit of a sale but having played it, I would have paid full price for it.
Great job, devs!
