Too cheap!
Visually beautiful. The dev spent a lot of his time on making this thing look good, it has a decidedly specific art style which it never leaves behind. The story is hard to follow - English translation - but the gist of it is quite fun.
Good things:
+ Freaky but consistent art style.
+ Beautiful effects.
+ Powerful hero abilities.
+ Competent base building, and resource management.
+ Capable and dangerous ( but sometimes stupid ) enemy AI.
+ INVENTUS
Bad things:
My main gripe with it, is it's gameplay flaws which are:
+ Each chapter resets THE ENTIRE MAP!??!?! WHY?
Each time I get to a new chapter, I have to start all over again building my base, army. In Chapter 2 I had to freaking well RECONQUER the enemy I already conquered in chapter 1. WHY?
( I have to assume this is some kind of bug, it's utterly frustrating. )
+ Units don't auto attack enemies nearby.
+ Units don't reliably attack.
+ Units can - rarely - get caught in the terrain. And the only solution is to delete them. ( Please add a "unstuck" button to teleport them to the closest stronghold.
+ Units on Attack Move ( F key ) get caught on things? I don't understand this.
+ Weird hostile "Witch Fortress" outside Homebflug that keeps respawning. WHY?
+ Player's units move in a big sparse formation that makes it REALLY hard to fight the enemy. The enemy's units move together in big blobs. Yours can not. Uneven and frustrating fights sometimes.
=
Besides all that. I've enjoyed the game. Welldone to the developer, please work on and improve your game.

Witch Queen is an artistic RTS that will be immediately familiar to people remotely familiar with the genre because of its basic gameplay loop (build base and defense, gather resources, build units, fight enemies until they die). Don't let the word 'lightweight' in the description fool you, this game possessed enough complexity to be considered a real RTS, not a game only for casual; EDIT: though by design, it is still fairly fast since you don't need builder, then again so does Command and Conquer series. It also have a lot of focus on the the story with very large campaign map. There are multiple factions and heroes units, all of which distinct enough to give each faction some unique flavor. The art are also pretty great. The game can be janky at times with units having problem moving in a fight when it is moving toward the target you tell it to go to and sometimes translation errors, but nothing too frustrating. The Heroes, especially in campaign, can also be fairly OP and some units can be too slow than it should, though those aren't the deal breakers either. However, [strike] the lack of save game system for both skirmish and campaign (only in the middle of the campaign, you will still save each time you advance to the next chapter) and [/strike] skirmish modes only have 1v1 can be a make or break factor for you, so take that into consideration though there are other modes that you can try out like survival.
Overall, if you have patient or willing to ignore its few glaring flaws, this is a solid RTS game with unique artstyle. Still, you might want to hold off until either devs begin to patch the game or wait for a sale.
Edit: So I miss the way to save in the game because I don't know was right next to the mini map, as the dev have thankfully tell me, so there is that. Though other criticism, especially on skirmish, are still true (not on the save since you are unlike to need save in skirmish as it isn't that long), but it is not something the dev couldn't add later down the line like larger map, 2v2, or free-for-all modes. Still mode like story-focus campaign, survival and arena should keep you entertain even if no such new contents are added. So overall, still recommended.
