A Good story with puzzles and not a timer in sight (except for hint reload)

II think this is a really good adventure game with some HO scenes included, but it's not a straight HOG. The HOS were not the total focus by a long shot. Compared to other games out there of this genre that have come out in recent years (adventure hidden object - that's my characterization anyway), this had nice graphics, a variety of tasks and I didn't find it to be simply one HOS following another ad nauseum. There's no "action"; you don't jump or crawl or run from creatures - so it's not an action adventure. It's, as I said, "adventure hidden object". The mini-games are varied, the map is helpful and I used a hint twice, and it was helpful, too. There's also a strategy guide if you prefer to use that. You can choose to skip puzzles, as well. The games ranged in their level of challenge but nothing at either extreme (way too easy or ridiculously difficult). I spent a lot of time in a few spots where I couldn't find the secret symbol (I didn't go to the strategy guide; and I still haven't found them all - I'm almost there!) Overall, I recommend this game!

Alex Hunter is a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure, in which a man is contacted in order to find a missing scientist. What he did not expect is that the scientist was being used for evil plans. The highest plus point of this game is the puzzles and clever usage of the objects, beyond a very intriguing plot. The only point that is somewhat confusing is the use of the locations. You have to frequently go to places where you already did everything, due to the hidden objects scenes. This may be confusing, but overall, a very good game. For sure I want to play other Alex Hunter games.

I played in easiest mode. I was pleasantly surprised at how much adventure, puzzles & mini games are packed into this one HOPA. It has a good, strong story. Each HOP earns you 1 inventory item. There is a lot of point & click action, so you find items and do lots of things along the way. Each HOP includes things to assemble & hidden items to uncover. There is a good variety of puzzles & mini games. It shows that extra time was put into the development of this game. I would buy more "Alex" games. -map shows where you can take action, and secret symbols, and lets you jump to locations of which there are many. -hint/skip button -journal writes down your clues and has brief notes of what's going on. -bonus chapter, bonus hidden room, bonus x-file, trophies, music, concept art

This game is alright. It does have a feature I haven't seen in other hidden object games. It marks on the map where you can find collectible hidden symbols. That may be more hand-holding than a lot of people would like. But, I'm like, if there's 35 hidden symbols to find; you can't backtrack to previous locations, or replay previous chapters; and missing even one symbol stops you from getting the achievement, having them marked on the map is appreciable. Mind you this is an old game that has been ported to Steam. It does have in-game achievements. But, they haven't been synced with Steam achievements.

I have no idea why I have two separate versions of this game in my steam library, but this is the one I played. Its not a very stand out game in terms of hidden object adventure scenes. It was well drawn, but the plot didn't really make an awful lot of sense. You were investigating a missing persons case and wound up getting involved in a science experiement.

PROS 🟢 Multi-layered detective story and a variety of captivating locations. 🟢 CG cutscenes and voice acting boost immersion. 🟢 Contextual HOPs and good music enhance gameplay. 🟢 Built-in walk-through with secret items eases progress. CONS 🔴 Outdated UI needs modernizing. REVIEW The game shines brightly in its immersive narrative and technical aspects. Its captivating, multi-layered detective story and diverse locations create a rich exploration experience. The CG cutscenes were impressive, significantly enhancing immersion and supplemented by top-notch voice acting that brings characters to life. Additionally, well-executed HOPs integrated into the story context and a fitting musical score contribute to a consistently intriguing atmosphere. On the functional side, the game features a helpful built-in walkthrough with secret items, promoting a smooth gaming experience without frustration. However, a notable downside is the outdated UI, which, while not impeding gameplay, contrasts with the game's overall quality and could be more modern. In conclusion, this game is a highly recommended, immersive detective adventure. Even with an outdated UI, its overall quality makes it worth playing. What wasn't to like about this game. I loved the music, graphics, story and puzzles. Some of them made you think, but that's the whole idea, right. Would love a part 2 to this, never get tired of HOG.

A pretty cool game. The puzzles were pretty good and not too easy. The HOS were not too many and not too less. In expert mode it was not too hard and the overall gameplay was pretty cool. The story was nicely chosen and not too classical or boring. The bonus chapter and the bonus room ( that you can access after collecting all the symbols in the game) where a nice extra to the story. All in one: A pretty cool game that is pretty fun to play. I can highly recommend it.

Pretty solid H.O.G. even though it is older! You get to play a Private Detective and the game makes you think like one. Picking out clues and such. Sometimes the game didn't respond to my clicks, especially in H.O. scenes, but otherwise... Everything was pretty spot on. There are Collector items too and although there are no achievements, playing through this game is an achievement in itself. Kudos. That was interesting!!! Thank ya! :D =) :>
