I've played few shoot'em up games and compairing to the games, the units in Grand Brix Shooter is pretty distictive. Few of them found to be useless. I really like that the patterns were not the same when I tried the challenge mode again.

It is a great game for sure. Each time, a new ship comes out I am in dilemma whether I sould get chaged to a new one or not. Also, the leaderboard system really gets me on to get better record since I can compare with other players. It is really hard to resist from not playing it once it is started.

I find the simple fact that this is on PC amazing. This game really manages to find the sweet spot in terms of difficulty and mechanics. It also feels really modern while staying true to the old school roots of the genre. The controls are super smooth and they really couldn't be more responsive. The graphics are also smooth and nothing ever feels confusing. It is very straight forward! I really like the simplicity of the art style as well. The soundtrack is so so but appropriate. Everything just blends really well with this game and feels refreshing. If I'd have to point out, the story seemed to be irrelevant to the game. Just check out the feature description, there seems to be something here for all sorts of fans of the genre. It really is glorious to see all this shmup greatness running in HD. It would be a sin not to give this one a shot if you're into bullet-hell.

I personally really enjoyed playing it. The game is very direct, simple to understand with a really reasonable price. I would definitely recommend the game to my friends. There is a leaderboard at the end, the scores from other countries can be viewed and that was one thing that made me play over and over again.

Grand Brix Shooter has the perfect balance of accessibility and ramping difficulty. The mechanics of the game are very clear, the player ship is obvious and visible. The visuals are crisp, clean, and colorful, without creating any visual confusion, and the music is fantastic and sets a great atmosphere. I feel that Grand Brix Shooter is the perfect "training course" to the greater arena of shmups, and by investing time into this game, my skill level has increased by leaps and bounds in the other games. Still, it's plenty challenging in its own right. Grand Brix Shooter is a brilliant game, and it blows me away that it's developed by a four guys.d - I recommend that you pick it up straight away!

I would not call this is a post-Ikaruga type of best SHMUPs but bang for the buck?, Yes. Controlling jets is easy but finishing the game is a challenge because there should be a whole other level of difficulty when you get through the stages over stages like rogue-like. A fusion system provides a strategical move and it is a fun part of mixing great old arcade + new interpretation.
I will keep playing it time to time.

Another shmup game that plays rather well with multiple power ups to use and upgrade, then swap to another power to heal which is a neat mechanic, it can get a tad chaotic but otherwise pretty fun :)
