EARLY-ACCESS REVIEW
Has potential, but is so far unfinished.
If you're going to play it now, don't play the second map yet.
The buttons once you finish the level don't work, so it freezes the game.
Apart from not being complete, there are some major issues with controls and movement.
It's a third-person view, but it is angled weird and a lot of the time the buildings and environment block your view.
The camera is zoomed in way too far and as of yet, there's no camera controls.
You have to hold the RMB to aim while clicking the LMB to shoot.
I think it would be better for the reticle to simply aim where you point your mouse, and LMB click to shoot.
You know, like every other shooter ever made for PC.
E brings up the map, blocking half the screen, and R is Reload, which you're often doing on the run.
This means it's easy to accidentally bring up the map when you mean to reload.
There's no way to pause or bring up anything to remind you what the controls are, and they don't stay on screen long enough to read them all.
You're given a few different guns, but only ammo for your pistol, and no way yet to get ammo.
You also cannot yet upgrade those other guns. However, you CAN accidentally switch to them mid-game.
It is currently a very bad game, HOWEVER,
I know it is unfinished, and I see some GREAT potential in it,
so I'm going to recommend it with the provision you wait to try it until it is finished.

I am not sure in what kind of war I got myself into, but I am armed with guns killing guys who mostly run around with sticks, while stealing pirate treasure from them.
Unfortunately, the game has several issues that hinder the experience. Guns have no sound, the minimap is terrible and weird, and the camera is way too close to the character, making it hard to see anything. I often found myself asking, "Why did all colors decide to gang up against blue? Why am I alone in the war? What happened to the other blues? What kind of war is this?"
Most of the time, I don't know where I am shooting. I have to rely on the minimap because I can barely see anything else. New weapons come with literally 1-2 bullets, and there are no bullets to pick up on maps. Enemies clip through walls, which is never a good sign. You can't shoot through grass, and my desktop mouse is visible even after restarting the game, which is quite distracting. Additionally, Steam achievements only pop up when you exit the game.
I don't like writing negative reviews, especially since I know how much time and effort goes into creating a game, but Alone in the War needs a lot more polishing before it becomes shelf-ready. When you open the map, it always says "Level 4," no matter which level you are on. The controls are confusing, with '+' for zooming out and '-' for zooming in. If enemies get close to you, you shoot past them, and the aim sometimes snaps to objects if you go near them. If you go to the edge of the map, the crosshair snaps to it. The rifle is okay, but you get so little ammo that you won't use it much. You can sprint for exactly 1 second every 10 seconds.
Overall, Alone in the War could have potential, especially since I have seen the developer being active, but it requires significant improvements to deliver a satisfying gaming experience.
