I really enjoy playing this game. For such a small project its really big. The options on crafting, random loot and spells are huge! The art style is very fitting and the music combines well with the gameplay, you really get into the mood. I read others had some problems with crashes but I havent encountered any problems so far.
Now I just hope i can get myself to the top!

Stay Safe is a simpler roguelike that is fun to delve into and pick up/put down. Your first run through will probably take a couple hours and subsequent runs will generally take around an hour. Overall, it's a great, short game to play whenever you like. I've been playing it since the beta versions of the game and it's improved a lot since then. I especially love the addition of the four classes of characters. Class choice doesn't limit the skills and items you can use, but it does change your stats significantly and really changes the playstyle of each class. For me, it was definitely worth a buy! And I don't think I'll be putting this down any time soon.
Note: Pretty much all the crashes that older reviews mention are all fixed now. They were frustrating before, but it's not an issue anymore.

fun roguelike with cute graphics and good soundtrack. The dev is very responsive on Discord. I played this back in alpha and again recently. Much improved and more updates planned. Well worth the cost for hours (days) of entertainment.

As an unexpected roguelike game, it's worth the price for days of play, especially now that it's 90% :D. I hope the developers keep updating the game without deviating from the genre =) haven't had any crashes so far, it looks like it was fixed. I love the colorblind mode! haha
Feature I like to have:
- Allow to run or Autoexplore: Autoexplore not really a big deal because the levels are small, but it will help to have quick games
- hide some traps (YES XD)
I usually don't like 4-way movement, I prefer 8-way, but is not bad in this game.

A great value for its price and definitely worth some of your time.
For its point in the development cycle, the game is highly playable. I've only put in a few hours and have not cleared the game, but managed to get about halfway through on my second run. I've been playing rogue-likes for decades though, so getting to that point could take someone new to the genre some time.
Pros
(1) The game has a good atmosphere. This is hard to do with simplistic graphics, but the lighting and music will make you feel like you're in a dungeon.
(2) You can use the dungeon to kill enemies. Right now there are just spike and fire traps, but using them is fun, and create an environment where even if you can't win by brute strength, you can win by trickery. Hopefully the Dev intends to expand upon these mechanics.
(3) Crafting system. Its mostly nascent right now, but most items can be broken down into components and components used to make various weapons, armors, potions, etc. Recipe drops are entirely random, however, limiting their utility in any given run. Right now, I'd rather save my inventory space for food and healing items than components because of this. I think a fix would be to retain memory of recipes from run to run.
Cons:
(1) Balance issues. Healing is done purely by food. Food and consumables take no time to use so any time you get in trouble you can just spam items to stay alive. This might sound great at first but really just serves to obscure the fact that right now, the game has little in way of mobility and counter-mobility skills to make maneuver a part of the game. Additionally, because there is no hunger mechanic, no hp regeneration other than level-up, and food does not rot, any character that randomly generates with a heal spell is currently OP. These dynamics also make playing a melee character very difficult, in my opinion. Playing as a wizard is MUCH easier right now, especially early in the game.
(2) Saving. Right now you can only save your game every 8 dungeon levels or so on sanctuary floors and only once on each of those floors. Personally I like this because is makes save scumming impossible. But most will not enjoy this. Its going to be about 45 minutes to an hour between save points. For a lot of people, they don't have time to play more than 20-30 minutes at a time. So this mechanic will prevent them from playing the game as much as they would otherwise.
This game is on its way to becoming a great entry to the genre. Recommend the Dev allow characters to pick from a small suite of starting abilities rather than random generation (most will just spam), allow for the permanent retention of a single learned crafting recipe each run, add more maneuver based skills and as they are added consider reworking healing mechanics, and allow save and exit from any floor (if someone wants to go through the effort of save scumming, let them). Finally, I'm hoping for more in-dungeon objects and traps to interact with as this game grows.
If you're a fan of this game, and new to the genre, try the following on steam: ADOM, Net Hack, Dungeonmans, Cave of Qud, Tales of Maj'Eyal, Rogue Fable III, and Rogue Empire. There are others, but these are the most complete, more traditional rogue-likes on steam.

The game is extremely fun and challenging as any rogue-like should be, however there are several cases where the game crashes and takes any save with it. (once it even crashed WHILE trying to save) Its because of these untimely ends to the run that I cannot recommend it.
P.S. if you DO get this game, do not try to use 3 status effects on an enemy at one time. that is FOR SURE a crash.

One of those games that doesn't deserve a thumbs down but will if the balancing doesn't get addressed. Right now you feel like you get nowhere and see the same 5 levels over and over. I get it, 'Rogue Like' had become French for 'difficult for the sake of being difficult' ... I played Rogue way back in the day and it wasn't this hard to at least get going. And remember, that games have evolved since then and the constant start all over again doesn't have the same appeal now.
Not bad for the $$$ but be wary

Quite an unexpected gem. Was looking for a traditional roguelike with full controller support I could play on the Steam Deck, and this game fits the bill. Some 4 hours in so far and really enjoying it. Low enemy encounter density, but longer and more varied battles in which you have to carefully choose your strategies and manage your inventory. Definitely recommended.

A nice little roguelike, however: There doesn't seem to be any way to "save and exit" and continue a run later on. I do understand that permadeath is easy to implement if there are no saves and therefore no save backups. But in 2019 you should be able to stop playing anytime you want and come back later on. Especially if you have a life.
