Extremely basic resource management gameplay: use matches to keep warm, consume food to maintain stamina, use flashbangs or cash bribes on guards, resolve random events to obtain these resources (and if you're unlucky, you're screwed), repeat ad nauseam. Occasionally you will be given the choice of sacrificing one character to save the rest of the group or having a random chance of saving the entire group.
This uninspired gameplay is occasionally broken up with cringe-inducing dialogue where the corrupt cops chasing your characters will whine about how leftists are undermining capitalism and there won't be universal healthcare on their watch. It comes across like it was written by a 14-year-old who just learned about basic political concepts for the first time.

A great little game you can finish in a sitting. Everything comes together nicely to make this a treat. Only downside is just part of the game in the sense that I lost a 90% roll and in a fit of annoyance I just said "fuck it" to crossing a mine field at 34% straight after and of course crossed without a hitch....
Full price may make it feel like you didn't get your money's worth purely due to the length but if it's on sale pick it up.

"The Man Came Around" is a survival game that skillfully intertwines an engaging narrative with challenging gameplay. This game guides you through a gripping journey as you assume the roles of five ordinary citizens, all desperately striving to escape the chaotic circumstances.
If you're a fan of games that combine strategy, a captivating storyline, and truly impressive music, then "The Man Came Around" should absolutely be on your must-play list. It's an adventure that will keep you engaged from the start. The subtext of the story adds depth to the narrative, making you question the very essence of your principles and values. The music (which I know I mentioned already) and the illustrative drawings are absolutely amazing.
On a slightly less positive note, it's worth mentioning that the game lacks Steam achievements to unlock, and occasionally, the animations may feel a bit too minimalistic for my taste. But overall, I'd say go for it – you won't regret it!

Very good plot.
Every action has consequences, the story keeps the tension all the time.
That's what I look for in indie game: originality

This game is quite the experience. Made me feels things.
You start off with very little idea of what's happening and a simple goal : getting away without getting caught or shot. The intriguing story unfolds as you get to know the characters.
The unique art style participates in the cold and tense atmosphere (with some humor sprinkled in!) and if the exploration and puzzle mechanics may seem unfair at first : every mistake can have brutal consequences for our group of survivors, it encourages a learning attitude.
A game best played at night with a cup of tea, love it !

Very unique and atmospheric game. I recommend buying it on sale as it only took me about 2.5 hours, but I really enjoyed it.

It felt like a movie.
There is something about the ambiance, and having to make risky choices to know more and to go forward into the story.
The visuals, the musics and each character stories hold well together, I never played something like that.
The themes are very actual and spot on, many of us are on the verge of having to go through similar life altering situations, already did, or are actually living it right now.
All because insecure facists and greedy capitalists making it harder for everybody for no good reasons.
Class war is the only war.
Sorry Walt, but f£%*k you haha

Great game.
Love the black & white art style.
I'm probably only halfway but the character-arcs are interesting and I'm really invested in their survival and the overarching story.
I was very stressed because there aren't that many save points but they came just at the right time causing a big relief :)
Curious for the ending!
