Wow, whoever did the voice acting for this game was great, he is also probably very good at having sex as well.

Great game! There are some really funny parts to the game, made me laugh out loud! I'm still not done the game, stuck on the final level. A great game - very entertaining. I like the addition of the boss theme music!

I've spent 200 hours on AC: Odyssey, and if I want to complete every location, I probably have another 200 to go.
I could've spent the last hour on my 201st, but instead I managed to complete this fun, simple, no nonsense old school platformer, and a wise choice it has been.
Given its ridiculously low price, it was well worth it. My only nitpicks: you can stand on top of spiky balls, which is highly counter-intuitive, and the way to beat the last boss is also a bit counter-intuitive; I think I know how I managed it, but I'm still unsure.

Shrine of the God-Ape is essentially Ruination for the impressionable majority. With simplified mechanics, heavier emphasis on platforming, and reduced difficulty, fans of the former Zachary Lee title may come in disappointed. Future Zachary Lee fans can take solace in knowing that, despite these changes, the overall product still functions well and provides some enticing gameplay finesse. Its incredibly low content, however, makes this only barely recommendable to the general player.
+ Great pixel detail
+ Well-tuned boss fights
+ Price makes short runtime worth it
- (Very) Lacking in content
- Gameplay mechanics perhaps too simplistic
- Music feels thrown in

For a under 1 Euro/USD game, I didn't expect anything more. Really short and fun little platformer that you can easily finish in a few 10 minutes. I almost have an hour in because I got all the achievements which also are really easy to earn.
Help this solo dev out by giving him a few cents and maybe he comes back with something bigger.

This game was an awesome mix of action problem solving and epic boss fights. truly a game worthy of being a shrine to ape kind.

Really good value for a dollar. It's well thought out, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and has a charming aesthetic.
The bosses often feel a little inconsistent in their patterns, but that could be a skill issue on my part. Solid recommend.
It's a short time, but it's a decent one.

I like Shrine of the God-Ape much more than Ruination - previous Steam release by Zachary Lee - because while it's still a hardcore platforming game, every death in it feels completely "deserved". The first levels are easy, the last one makes gamers use all the skills they got while playing to finish the final test (obstacle course) and to defeat the final boss (using the last "new" gameplay mechanic they need to understand).
SotGA is a much more player-friendly experience than Ruination - now it's not a rage game with shaking camera and clunky controls, but a "fair" hardcore platformer that tries to show player something new on each of three in-game episodes. While it can be finished in 30 minutes by a skilled player, it have a replay value because of adequate (hard, but far from impossible) requirements for Steam achievements and a speedrun mode that unlocks after the first run. Fans of "fair" hardcore platformers that want you to remember every spike on your way to the finish will be pleased. At the same time, for $0.90 I can recommend it even to those players who never loved the genre - give it a try, and maybe you'll find something that will introduce you to it.

What is "Shrine of the God-Ape"?
Shrine of the God-Ape is a short action platformer with slight puzzle elements.
The game is very short with three stages á five levels, for a total of 12 normal and 3 boss levels. Each boss level has an unique achievement that is not difficult to obtain but in the case of the final boss a bit frustrating. The playtime is around half an hour, with - depending on your skills - 15-20 minutes more for the boss achievements..
The game is controlled entirely with the gamepad. I did not test the keyboard controls. The gamepad controls are nice. One only needs to know that the menu is controlled with the d-pad while the joystick is used for character movement, as well as buttons for jumping and firing.
Overall, I enjoyed this game, and the low price is appropriate for the short length.
The music and sound are nothing special but fitting. The graphics are nice, and it is satisfying to see the bosses... wait, I won't spoil to you what they do when they are defeated.
There also is a speedrun mode, which is not required for achievements, but is a thankful addition for speedrunners. Indie developers who cater to speedrunners without taking away from the core experience of the main playerbase deserve thanks! The controls being fast and fluid as well as the challenge that can be mastered easily and pitfalls to look out for, especially the "trampoline" plants needing to be pressed correctly to shoot up make this an excellent speedrunning game.
There is one bug I encountered. It can be that the final boss enters an unwinnable state right at the beginning. He is supposed to throw a relic down into the pit where you fight him, but sometimes that relic shoots to the side instead down, and then it won't come down at all. This happened to me the first time I fought him, and I just couldn't figure out what to do... so be aware of this.
That said, I can recommend this game to fans of the genre who want a fast game with not too difficult achievements.
Recommended: Yes, if you like short action platformers
Bite Size Platformer
This is a nice little dollar platformer. You are looking for an artifact at a shrine of a mighty ape god. It's a relatively short experience with only three different areas. Each area has four stages; one of which being a boss stage. The jumping and movement feels good. Stages are small so dying doesn't take you back very far. Limited puzzle play is added in; luckily it doesn't break up the speed of the platforming game play much. There is some nice music and art as well. The game took me a little under an hour to 100% and there is also a speed run mode available.
The Minor Gripes
My biggest gripe I had with this game is that there is no real pause button. I played with a controller and if you press the pause button it goes back to the main menu. Levels are short but it was still inconvenient if I had to pause for whatever reason. This was also really inconvenient when it came to trying for a particular achievement. There is a stage you have to beat without dying for an achievement. If there was a restart button it would be nice; but instead you have to hit start to go back to the main menu. Go down to stages, scroll through the areas, scroll through the stages, and than pick it to play. Other than that menu issue the only thing that irked me slightly is that music wasn't always present. Music is present on the bosses but not really on the regular stages.

+Fun Gameplay
+Solid platforming mechanics
+Nice art and music
+Speedrun Mode

-No pause or quick restart of stages
-Music is not always present

In the sea of one dollar games on steam I can say this was an appreciated purchase. If you enjoy bite size platformers go ahead and give this one a go.
