Very short... but not short enough.
Pros
,Adequate music/sounds/voice acting
.Two difficulty modes
.Mini-map ( without fast travel)
.Stationary toolbar
.Intricate adventure play
Cons
.Clunky mechanics
.Slow loading screens
.Hint system useless (ie twice indicated move to another location, tried, game wouldn't allow it)
.Dull, plodding story with docile protagonist and nonsense last act
,Smudgy artwork/graphics/scenes
.No indication when objects in correct position for possible use
.Smudged artwork made hidden object scenes difficult to do
.Things like making the scissors and sword rusty to blend them into the background in two different HOS made the scenes more difficult
.Having to search for the exact same hidden object (like rusty scissors and sword) in more than one HOS made the scenes tedious
.Simple, easy mini-puzzles
.Teeny-tiny click box
.Sometimes the teeny-tiny click box was above (ie. specs in HOS) or below (ie weight in clock) or to the side of the object
.Ridiculously short
Final words (2/10):
I thought in the end the story would make it worth it. I was wrong.

I play a lot of these types of HOG/Point and Click adventure games. This one has a few frustrating moments where finding what you're supposed to be doing can be annoying, especially if you're trying to click on a specific area (knowing it's the correct one) but the game doesn't read it. There's no fast travel on the map, making you backtrack quite a bit. There's nothing to indicate you have an option to do something in an area other than hint (which isn't helpful at all). Hint is SLOW to recharge and doesn't actually assist you. For example..you may need to find an object to complete a small puzzle. However, hint won't tell you where you should go next or what you might need to do. Instead, hint will lighten up the puzzle you need help with in the first place. Absolutely annoying. The Waterfall puzzle was a pain and even though I knew what to do, it took a lot of clicking to get the game to register. The minigame puzzles are okay..nothing really special. The HOG puzzles are awful, for the most part. It's one thing to make them difficult but just putting really blurry, indistinct or faded items isn't an appropriate way to do it, in my opinion. It can be hard to even know what you're looking at sometimes.
But, the story was good, so there's that.

I am one of the people who wants to play games such as this for the interesting story , good looking illustrations and some relaxing puzzle and hidden object search . The story and illustrations parts are thumbs up good but forget the relaxing experience. The hints are there for the HOG but they take a long time to recharge and the developers are hell bent on making you painstakingly search and find every single object so when you try in frustration to click fast on more than a couple of objects, you get punished by having your cursor disabled and twirling around the screen. The story kept me going and till half way through , on my third attempt to finish the game , it started crashing to the desktop every time i clicked on the PLAY . Evidently this has happened to others before and no solutions have been found so be aware of the risk of having to delete the game before finishing .

Mysteries are fun and thought provoking, This game is that and more. It keeps you guessing, even though you may know or have an idea of the next possible solution. A great game all around.

An old, but still enjoyable toy, based on a fairly famous novel. It’s quite nice to brighten up the evening with this.

I love this game ! I may be coming from a place of nostalgia, but it's genuinely a very fun game. The visuals are very pleasing, and it's a very relaxing game. I first played this game in 2010, with my grandmother, and we played it everyday. I thought I'd buy it again not only for her, but for myself :D

I didn't get far enough into this game to review the story. Seemed like it might be interesting. but I couldn't get through enough of it because of the extremely clunky interface:
- The action buttons appear to the side of the cursor, which is offputting. Makes it seem like there's an issue, but it's actually designed that way.
- The mouse sensitivity is extremely high, and there is no way to change it.
- Every action has the same sound effect. It gets really annoying really fast.
- Volume issues in cutscenes - music is super loud, can barely hear speech.
- There's no way to skip the startup cutscene, and it's pretty long. If you do play this, do it in one sitting.
I'm an avid fan of HOGs and have played and enjoyed a lot that had mediocre interfaces. This one is pretty bad. I'll just go read the book it's based on instead for the story.
