Pure garbage actually. You can win an extremely easy battle but still have your leaders captured. It really just ruins the base game

Very nice DLC. I've always been a fan of Sango and being able to play Liu Bei and his friends is really fun. Also the new music is fantastic. I may play Cao Cao at some point.

I think one should mention early in a review if you have a blood feud with the very bad guys who made the said game you are about to axe . And possibly if you could be described as a fanoldman ( 72 years old- not a fanboy any more) for "Total War"s all of 'em. So I loved"Oriental Empires",loathed "Genghis" thought it was made specifically for ignorant 8 year old halfwits and yep think "3 Kingdoms" pretty damned good.No bugs I could find,it's a good set up generally, looks A okay and a heap of choice of whom you can play. Music fine absolutely nothing to b----h or moan about it it's great.... But lets have some disharmony. upset some wah, how does it compare with" Total Wars" latest offering? Simple answer to that . They are both fine games in their own right and I for one will happily play both. In the mean time I 'm very content with "Oriental Empires Three Kingdoms" and if you enjoyed the earlier games I think you will like this one to. As a final wee incentive it's cheap at the moment..Worth buying ,recommended...

Really awesome expansion, ya know OE really is a fantastic Civ-type game, every expansion seems to hammer in that fact more and more. The Developers have shown a real love and dedication to this game that is lacking in so many others. You always know when you've found a good game AND a good team behind it that loves it, which is wonderful combination for the owners and gamers in general. Too bad there is not more of it in the industry these days. The new map , details and overall content added by this expansion is well well worth the price and a triumph for the owners of the game. It really moves the game forward content wise and adds a great deal of gameplay to the mix. Bravo.

This is an excellent DLC. I did not really like the Genghis DLC so I was hesitant to buy Three Kingdoms. Im glad I did!
The court system adds depth to the game; especially the early game. It feels like your characters mean a lot more. Before I feared to use my characters to lead troops, because they would die easily in battle. Currently, they mostly stay alive but are captured by the enemy for ransom instead. The Characters stats also matter very much for the minister positions. Adds a bit of RNG for replayability since sometimes you will have crap characters. To make up for that, you just have to win fights against your enemies characters, and recruit them to your side!!
The diplomacy seems a lot cleaner also. Atleast in the campaign, I was able to vassalize oppenents through various methods. (Gold, trade, and a show of threatening force near their cities) Just all around, the diplomacy aspect of the game was more enjoyable.
For the campaign, I enjoyed the increased authority (determines numbers of cities you can have) because it allowed me to make a massive trade empire throughout the whole map. I liked this tweeked campaign map vrs the base game china map, because the rivers allowed for naval use (hadn't found much use outside this map) and allowed ports to dominate trade.
On a side note, im not sure if it was the DLC or the random updates since Genghis, but a lot of the bugs that others and I had, seemed to have been fixed. Like the much needed visual/interface bugs.

Nice expansion, instead of just trying to spam armies to capture cities, Devs added advisers to add a political level. These advisors offer more micromanagement.
The scenerio is well balanced offering more of a challenge of trying to control a large empire now that simply giving cities to vassals had gone.
Now if you execute, marry or don't give a job to an advisor/ concubine then it can have effect on noble happiness and stability for a while. So you have to play the politics to increase the amount cities you can control.
Good game vets will love, it needs more development but game has took a good step towards expanding the games playability and longevity.

It is good DLC. I had liked what this game brought to the table when it came out and could see a lot of potential in it. The game was alright but still seemed like it hadn't reached it's potential. I do still feel this way in some regards as there is much that seems natural to add to the game. This DLC moves the game forward and into the right directions. I especially like the fallen Hans added to the game as it helps to make the maps much less vacant. I had always thought it needed to have some kind of minor cities or something of that nature to encounter during expansion and this sort of acts like that and it is a good direction to help the immersion feel more natural. I hope that the game evolves to promote things like a dynamic faction emergence and decay/absorbtion. that can allow the factions to unite and split over time. Things like that.

Improvement i can suggest as a 27years Chinese hardcore three kingdoms player & history reader since kid:
(1)Please make Yellow Turban Rebellion available to control & play in Three Kingdoms series, as it play a vital roles in the early three kingdoms history. As all Chinese Hardcore player in China know the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
(2)Please make East Han Dynasty Character playable, as they are alot of Han dynasty characters that play a big part of the early history of three kingdom, As all Chinese Hardcore player in China know that.
(3)Please put on history, detail & data in character sheet, thus it can make the game more historical reliable & realistic to play.
(4)China palace is wider & bigger it grows, not taller it grows, as it turn to be Japan palace at the end when it grow taller.
(5)Chariot are avail during three kingdoms history.
(6)More prison slot to hold prisoner of enemy.
(7)Some Minister in palace actually lead army in wars, but the game make them sit in palace with less influence.
(8)Please increase special character armor & attack, they are too easy to die in the game.
(9)Increase tactical move for all AI.
Overall the game is still enjoyable, please continue the good work & hope for better & interesting update version or DLC later.

Really good DLC. Lots of attention to detail, and a more historical take on the time period unlike Koei or Total War, meaning even if you own other Three Kingdoms games this brings its own appeal. It adds some really neat features in the court system that make the base game a ton of fun too. The scenario itself has events and missions that add some flavour. For example as Cao Cao I formed the Qingzhou army. Worth it for fans of the base game, and being so cheap, those willing to give the game another go.
