There is a very small amount of dragons to actually play without paying DLC. But then even with DLC, you don't have much. Most of the skins are locked behind payments and you have to hope somebody kind will help nest you in as the skin you'd actually like to be. But often enough, you can't find parents of both genders for what you need. Especially if you aren't playing on the only active server. If you want the shinier skins, they are locked behind 200$ on patreon (That's rediculous if all you want is the pearls. They should at least offer an option to pay for just the specific things you want). None of these purchases, by the way, are shared if you have family sharing turned on. So if you have a sister who wants to play the game? Guess what, she has to buy it herself along with all the other pesky DLC's. The devs seem so greedy, which doesn't make sense since they had one of the most successful Kickstarters I've ever seen. I'd be less annoyed if they put the gold / shimmer pearls for sale as DLC on steam. And because they don't, their API, which connects these purchases from Patreon into the game, breaks all the time and it takes them about a week to fix them every time it happens. It seems like an unstable system and a waste of dev time to be worrying about this. For whatever reason, this survival game with blood and death in it has decided to force the chat into a "family-friendly" atmosphere. The admins are very micro-managey over the community, forcing everybody's language to be child-friendly despite Steam being 13+ this has led to a very sensitive community who can't handle the slightest disagreement about something. Even saying something like "I'm pissed" or "Damn it" can lead to an admin silencing you. And if you are new to the game, you likely haven't read the rules about what words are not allowed, especially if you don't join their discord. I've never in my life played a game where you're expected to join a discord server. An utterly ridiculous expectation to place on your gaming community. But they put a lot of the actual official server RULES in these discords, even randomly updating them at times with even more rules, which completely baffles me. A lot of these new rules I've seen are over petty dramas that don't actually matter in the actual game. It feels as though the management for this game is run by mentally ill adults with BPD who have no grip on reality and cannot handle criticism. I've even seen some reddit posts where people were banned from the official discord over their criticisms of the dragons... If you're running a game, you cannot be folding over criticisms on your game, no matter how hurt your feelings are. You're a professional, and you're an adult. You can handle people not liking one of your dragons, and you can afford to ignore Clan/player drama. It's not your job to micro-manage your players. Let them speak freely. Focus on your game and stop worrying about your community. Ban people who say hurtful things to others / go out of their way to upset people. DON'T ban people over just any swear or joke. When you do that in a PG 13 game, you have truly lost the plot and you push normal people away from dealing with this game. I continue to put up with this game since the play-as-a-dragon survival game genre is so small and there's not much out there. But the minute something better comes along, I'm gone. And hopefully the next best thing will have a community that's allowed to have fun and joke without being punished for being a little edgy.

its aight, kinda wish there was a single player, feels weird that 90% of games like this are open pvp. which in my opinion is NEVER good. but there is clear effort put into the models and the gameplay, and i can tell it will be real good with content.

Day of Dragons offers a unique and ambitious approach to multiplayer gaming by placing players in the role of majestic dragons in a vast, open-world environment. Developed by Beawesome Games, this title stands out in the crowded survival and fantasy genre by focusing on realistic dragon flight, survival mechanics, and player-driven interactions. The concept of embodying a dragon, complete with soaring flight and powerful abilities, is a thrilling experience that the game aims to capture with a level of authenticity and scale rarely seen in similar titles. The game’s most impressive feature is its detailed dragon simulation. Each dragon species in Day of Dragons is meticulously designed, featuring unique abilities, behaviors, and physical characteristics that affect gameplay. Flying feels weighty and realistic, requiring players to manage stamina and momentum carefully while navigating expansive landscapes filled with diverse biomes, including dense forests, rocky mountains, and open plains. The sensation of gliding on thermals or diving at high speeds creates an exhilarating sense of freedom that few games have managed to replicate so well. Survival elements form a significant part of the gameplay loop. Players must hunt for food, avoid natural predators, and engage in territorial battles with other dragons or creatures. This creates a dynamic ecosystem where cooperation and competition coexist. Players can form clans, establish dominance, or simply strive to survive against environmental challenges and other players. This player-driven social aspect adds depth and unpredictability, making each encounter unique and encouraging strategic thinking beyond just raw combat. Customization and progression add further engagement. As dragons gain experience, players can unlock new abilities and improve stats, tailoring their playstyle to be more aggressive, defensive, or stealthy. The variety of dragons and skill trees encourages experimentation, allowing players to discover different ways to master the skies and the survival aspects of the game. Additionally, the game features seasonal events and regular updates that introduce new content, keeping the community active and invested. Graphically, Day of Dragons impresses with its lush environments and detailed dragon models. The game’s world is vast and visually striking, with realistic weather effects, day-night cycles, and ambient wildlife that contribute to immersion. The dragon animations, from wing flaps to powerful roars, are fluid and convey a strong sense of scale and power. Sound design complements this with immersive environmental sounds, distinctive dragon calls, and an atmospheric soundtrack that enhances the epic fantasy feel. However, Day of Dragons is not without its challenges. As an ambitious indie title, it has faced performance issues and bugs, especially on lower-end hardware. Some players report occasional glitches with collision detection and AI behavior, which can disrupt immersion or lead to frustrating moments. The learning curve is also steep; mastering flight mechanics and survival strategies requires patience and practice, which might deter more casual players. The game’s multiplayer focus means that the quality of experience heavily depends on the player base. While the community is passionate and supportive, the relatively niche appeal means servers can sometimes feel empty, especially during off-peak hours. Additionally, PvP encounters can be intense, which might not appeal to players looking for a more relaxed, solo experience. In summary, Day of Dragons delivers a fresh and captivating take on survival multiplayer gaming by letting players embody powerful dragons in a beautifully crafted world. Its focus on realistic flight, survival mechanics, and player interaction creates a deep and engaging experience for those willing to invest time in mastering its systems. While technical hiccups and a steep learning curve present hurdles, the game’s ambition and unique premise make it a standout title for fans of fantasy and creature simulation alike. Rating: 7/10

Do not waste your time. This game is just a reason for the developer to help others groom younger kids. Multiple servers had borderline pedophile behavior and rampant grooming from all genders. Plus, the game is just dog water as well and has turned into an ego cash grab.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME PvP servers are mostly dead and they are dead for a good reason. The development team moves incredibly slow resulting in a game riddled full of bugs and the admin team is beyond useless. Player obviously cheating in front of you? Pinged for an admin? 8 admins online in the discord? Oh zero may show up or better yet a PvE admin who knows absolutely nothing about the PvP gameplay and exploits will monitor your fight! Did you find someone luckily and kill them? Oh well that's obviously cheating and you will be banned along with all of your accounts linked to your discord. No review process and no transparency on why you were actually banned. Inconsistent review processes from admins, bug ridden gameplay, and dead servers. Look elsewhere.
