Really stunning looking game, but the inability to reconfigure the keyboard controls meant I had to request a refund. I play my shmups on an arcade cabinet with a USB encoder - each joystick direction and button is mapped to the keyboard, so it means this game wasn't playable for me. Shame...

Don't be fooled by the trailer, the game isn't nearly as good looking in actual gameplay, and the soundtrack flat out sucks. Low production and not much to offer.

When we say "whether it is recommended", it's not just to describe the demerits of the game. Everyone, everything in the world has many demerits and so if there are demerits we cannot choose? The answer is surely. We need to give overall comment on the game, particularly whether it is justified the costs. For the price of this game against the quality, my view it is well justified at least for a try.

Was a bit hesitate buying this game, but wow that soon went after I purchesed it. Its got very fluid gameplay and great graphics and sound. Could not hardly hear the soundtrack, but guess that's my fault due to tweaking the sound fx lower. The only niggle I have with the game is, and as I said it's a little niggle to. We'll when you loose your last life the game comes to a abrupt end with silence. Would of been nice with the ship slowly exploding and some mellow music saying game over, so just a slow fade out end of game. As it almost feels like some fmv should of kicked in at that point. But hey! as I said it's a small niggle to. But really this game is a amazing shoot em up, and once you get used to the weapon system it just gets better and better. A special mention also how good the bosses are in this game to, there awsome just like the rest of the level design and game. Thanks Devs for such a awesome game. So what you waiting for! Hit the buy button and rage war against the enemie menace. 😁

Derivative Euro-shmup with good graphics and passable gameplay, but struggles to stand out otherwise. The C-64 style music is annoying and sound design overly noisy in general. It probably won't do much for you except pad your shmup collection, I guess.

This is more of a neutral than thumbs down, as I don't really like Sturmwind Ex, but I don't think it is a bad game. The gimmick with Sturmwind EX is the player has 3 different weapons. Each can be upgraded by juggling the power ups to appropriate color with that weapon is equipped. Which can be tricky as one of the weapons cycles through the options quickly and another cycles through them slowly. And the fast one is second and slow one is forth. Since there's also a points option as well. In addition, when the player's ship is hit, they lose access to that weapon until they grab a power of the same color. Once all the player weapons are destroyed, their ship is as well. In my initial hour of play I have yet to master this fairly straight forward mechanic. Because it you grab the power up with the wrong color it's wasted. Sometimes, it's tough to fend off the enemies, juggle the power up to the correct color and pick it up. What I don't really like about Sturmwind EX is many of the stages have transparency filters concealing what's going on. Fortunately, the game doesn't really hide the enemies' shots. However, it will camouflage the enemies themselves. There's a forge/lava stage where one of the enemies is this fire thing. It took me a couple of play throughs to realize that's what I'm hitting or crashing into. And the game loves to add fog, dust storms and even darkness to make it tough to see. While this is cinematic, the game doesn't pull punches while doing this. There's still tons of things to hit or have you ship crash into. Ultimately, Sturmwind Ex leaves me whelmed. I don't find the weapons or the upgrade gimmick particularly interesting. Though, I like the 2 hit before being destroyed with the chance to recover. I'm annoyed with the purposeful lack of visual clarity. But I don't find this game especially interesting otherwise.

Horizontal shmup, featuring modern graphics and good gameplay. Combine the use of your three weapon systems to make your way through many alien infested levels and get a high score on the leaderboards. Much like good old Axelay, if your ship gets damaged you lose the weapon in use, but you can repair it by getting the said weapon bonus item. Mentioning Axelay, the rotational twin vulcan weapon is also "borrowed" from that great old game. One annoying problem with this game is hit detection: Enemy hit boxes are sometimes unclear, especially in large ones and bosses. Moreover, there are cases you can't tell where the actual terrain is, causing your ship to get damage. Other than that, the game has no serious bugs and runs smoothly, even on an low end system. A cautious recommendation.

The game crashes in the level map 4, it's not possible to make any progress. It seems like the developer knew it, but ignored the problem. This was my review when I recent purchased this game A spaceshooter game all players of this genre should have, this was a late non oficial release on dreamcast, I'm glad the developer brought it to life again it deserves to be here on Steam. It has lots of improvements that it used to be on dreamcast.

I had this game pre-ordered on Dreamcast yrs before it was released, so brought it again as soon as it dropped on Steam. As mentioned, it's not a perfect port as there is a bit of slowdown and the odd bug here and there. It also doesn't have the DC intro nor feel as polished overall. Other than the updated graphics which do look great the DC remains the better version. Other than that its a great little shooter, and if you don't have access to a DC this is a great buy at this price...

Totally love this game & my experience so far its almost perfect except it would of been nice to have the original story introduction from the Dreamcast version what a shame that was left out, controllers work great & no lags & bugs so far, but i will point out, the charge beam is much slower at charging than the DC version of the game,. The graphics are incredible & mind blowing, Great catchy Acid Techno sound tracks, 16 mission/stages each with a big boss at the end to deal with, 3 levels of difficulty easy, medium, hard, lots of variation & enemies, Awesome weapons that you can fire at the front & at the back, There is a charge beam think R-Type,. If you have never heard of this game its on the Sega Dreamcast just called Sturmwind, it was originally on the Atari Jaguar it was called Native & sadly got cancelled i really hope it gets finished one day ?, you are in for a real Shoot Em Up treat. If you love side scrolling shoot em ups...Highly recommend buy this game its AWESOME :)
