MAN I LOVE WAIFUS is what i thought when i saw the princess, and she is awesome! And also has VO! I did not expect an indie to have voice acting so i was immediately surprised. One thing that you notice at once is how nice the graphics are, esp at night fall looking over the ocean. You move the princess from isle to isle by using a boat, and switch from princess to these 2 hands to interact during puzzles. The game takes some time to get into, but once you played for some time you notice how cool and rich this world is. Dont expect Zelda, this is an indie studio with their own take on the genre, and a very succesful one in its limitations

What a pile of trash. It looks pretty enough but I started the game waking up on a small island. I tried to swim ashore to the little town, and drowned after about 12 seconds. Restarted, this time started on the town island near a man in a chair...two lines of dialogue and then off I went to look for the Gods. met a shopkeeper who gave me things including a boat. No controls list so having to guess what controls I have, it displays a few but hides the rest. I visited four islands but nothing happened on them, ran across lava spewing from a tiny volcano without talking damage. Now the boat saw a glowing thing above the water so I sailed underneath it and interacted with it..."There is something underneath", So I jumped into the water and had about 12 seconds before I drowned to try to work out how to swim down...did not work it out, got back in the boat. Saw some houses on small islands and one looked like it had a wolf standing on it...great, time to kill something. Landed at the dock and...couldn't get off the boat. F to stop sailing does not work anymore.
Auto save so I used esc..settings...back to title screen then once there, pressed continue to reload and hopefully clear the glitch....and the game started again in the town in front of the two lines of dialogue man and that's when i quit in disgust.

This game is just a mess. Frame rate issues, hit box problems, input delays. And pretty sure I came across some other problems, like having to drown to get to the boat. It has potential, but this game is just terribly designed from end to end. Hell, even the climb feature doesn't work all the time. As well as, I randomly died when climbing on a box. And let's not get into the problem of stat building. Where it isn't more of a cost to one stat at a time, it is more of a cost to all of them. This means, power up one stat, and it increases the overall cost. Just horrendous.

OK i never write reviews, but I feel this game could use some earned words, so here goes!
Light Tracer 2 is a grand-scale vision of 1 indie team, combining a lot of different genres and a huge story into one bursting package that asks the player to explore, experience and immerse. Did it succeed?
Sail and go!
From the start you notice that this is not your regular indie, as in they went for a pretty big open world, or maybe better open ocean game where you travel from island to island. It’s pretty overwhelming and I didn’t expect this at all, recreating some sense of wonder and excitement once you set sail
Once you did a few puzzles and won some battles you get a very good idea of what this game is about. The puzzles are great and exciting, and the battles serves more like an in between to gain some more resources, although some of them have alternative solutions which is cool to discover
The boss fights can be pretty hard but once you get thru to them (if too hard you can go back and gain more resources and so power up the princess) you can set off to the next island which is great.
There will be a huge change also nearing the end of the game which I won’t spoil here but it will take you to very different places.
What’s Good, What’s not?
If you jump into light tracer expecting a triple A experience you will find a bunch of stuff to complain about, since it’s made by a small team. Some things just feel a bit off or not exactly as you wanted them, let’s say some animation or some effects.
However, if you are willing to look thru it this indie is quite the gem, for a fraction of the price it offers a huge, very long adventure that will some truly original puzzles and battles while also drawing you in its story.
For me, it gave me back some of the feelings I had from games I grew up with, that surprised me and took me to place with a wild variety of gameplay and sights that made me excited for that next puzzle, that next scene.
Summary:
It’s not perfect and at the same time I have a very good experience. It’s an indie’s take op an open world adventure game and like I mentioned above: if you’re willing to look past some issues and blemishes, and if you like games like windwaker, you should definitely try this game out.
