trying to dock onto a space station in this game with this control scheme is one of the worst and most difficult things I have ever had the displeasure of doing in a video game.

Great game, especially for it is made by one creator. The gameplay feels good but unfinished. A good break from AAA games. I look forward to seeing this game being developed more.

If you enjoy realistic space-flight then; the Newtonian physics, that this game, combines with a very realistic sandbox environment alone! is enough of a reason to get this game.
Just go read the damn key features in the "about this game" section and if that in it self doesn't make you want to get this game then you're looking in the wrong place.
Also this isn't just an aimless sandbox.
this game also comes packed with multitude of missions, such as transporting cargo within and outside of the atmosphere, (now we only need different planets and galaxies to have the ultimate space trucker sim ;d ) engaging in search missions and more.
This game is clearly a pet project and a wonderful one at that.
I thought this would've become abandonware once I came back to check on it a year later however, imagine my surprise to see it getting brand new spanking content with a plethora of fixes and improvements.
There aren't many games like this one out there. If you can, try to support these single developer indie titles so others can see that there -- infact -- is a demand for realistic space-flight sims and that hopefully one day we can see a AAA studio try to tackle this genre.

Do you enjoy nail-biting orbital re-entry, clenching your cheeks as you choke your HOTAS like it's the difference between meeting god and making a successful cargo delivery?
Do you enjoy flying through well-simulated changes in atmospheric pressure while pondering whether you remembered to stow your landing gear during surface-to-surface flights?
Do you enjoy docking? with a space station that is.
Do you enjoy sitting still for 20 minutes, staring at the vast beauty of space while you wait, and hope, and pray for your target to come into view, checking and re-checking a small monitor which tells you you're *probably* on track to catch up with a space station soon, as you make micro-adjustments to your AOE and roll, desperately hoping you've matched velocity and apoapsis correctly and won't have to pull yet another fuel-squandering flip-n-burn?
Are you a space-nerd with dreams of operating your own surface-to-station shuttle runs and cargo deliveries? Do you dream of orbital mechanics and the feeling of transitioning in and out of atmosphere, and even escaping a planet's gravity well to explore the deepest, most frightening space routes?
Have you, like I, searched through dozens if not hundreds of forums, web-searches, and advertisements, downloaded countless demos and even shelled out credits for games which others laud as "Game of the Year, the most epic space fantasy, the most realistic..." etc etc.? Do you wish there were more hard-scifi/STL games where gravity and inertia actually mattered? Are you tired of RTS/dogfighting-centric games?
You can rest now.
This game is for you.
It is beautiful, it is challenging, it is as close to realism as you can get in a modern space game (barring some less visually-pleasing recreations of historical spaceflights).
This game has finally filled that void for me. It may lack the epic scale, story, or MMO capabilities of other space flight-sims such as Elite Dangerous, Starfield, or Star Citizen, but it truly makes you feel as though you are at the helm of a fragile, yet highly-advanced spacecraft in the near future.
*Disclaimer* I am not an astronaut, nor a rocket scientist, nor even an amateur in any related field. I am simply a lover of science both proven and fictional.
tl;dr: Beautiful game which simulates surface-surface, orbital launch and re-entry, and zero-G docking with highly accurate-feeling atmospheric and physics simulation. HOTAS supported. This is not Elite Dangerous or Starfield, but I think it is better at what it was made for.
PROS:
- Beautiful visuals
- Accurate simulation
- "Feels" like you're piloting a real spacecraft with mass and inertia, includes some great visual/sonic effects to make G-forces and atmospheric pressure feel real
- Compatible with generic HOTAS or playable with controller
- Controls are decent with some remapping or tweaking to your HOTAS system
- Music 10/10 for 'calm' space sim game
- Decent tutorials covering the full range of surface and orbital maneuvers
- Runs well on my crappy junked-together computer
- Singleplayer, no server lag
CONS:
- Not much to the story or missions, mostly just flying from one place to another to make a basic delivery
- There are rumors of other planets, but good luck getting there ;)
- Tutorials could use more guidance, especially for orbital rendezvous
- Planet and space stations are very simple, could use more varied terrain and economic/need-based delivery reasons to visit stations.
- Not an MMO if that's what you're looking for
This dev is incredible! Highly recommend. If you're reading this, O wondrous developer, I would love to see more economy implemented so we can start as a lowly surface transporter and scrape together enough credits by skimping on fuel and making expert landings to buy the better ships (or ship upgrades for more cargo space, more efficient fuel burn, autopilot systems, etc.) A bit more story/drive to do the missions would be really nice, a dynamic economy, more mission types, etc. In the future, trade routes between other planets, possibly even other star systems to explore and trade with would make this an 11/10 game. Love the game so far, glad to see it's still getting updates too <3
Ps. I would also love the option to edit the HUD/cockpit screens and place different info on them, in addition to expanding incoming data. Ie, I don't particularly need to know the length of my semi-major, but would like to see dAltitude, Phi, and others, and have the option to increase or decrease the significant figures on data or switch between km/m manually or at a user-defined magnitude, as well as receive information from stations about their Latitude, Inclination, Velocity, etc.

My all time favorite flight sim, supports HOTAS, but you can just use a controller or steam deck for great controls. The true joy of this game is overcomming the challenge of flying your ship. Dont expect fancy missions, dont expect enemies to shoot down. You drive a space UP0S truck and you are desperately trying not to crash, run out of fuel, or get lost. Thats all it needs imo, but the dev is adding stuff every 6 months or so.
The simulation is so good, in order to land my ship on the planet in the tutorial, i looked up how the spaceshuttles did it and it worked perfectly.
