Unplayable
Cursor panout, also not using the desktop cursor...
inverted left-right axis...
too many things on the mouse
This is almost what the Amiga version of Midnight would've been, save for the technical cursor panout issue...
Might give Ashworld a shot and hope it does things more properly.

I must have spent thousands of hours of my youth on Lords of Midnight and Doomdarks Revenge, the latter of which would provide you with epic battles every time you play. This game has everything you would have chosen to add - races/characters/locations. EXCEPT, somewhere they forgot to add huge armies, or cities that spawn troops to build more armies and fight. There are no snaking columns of troops clashing into each other. Instead random people wander around the map, looking lost. You need more characters, bigger armies, cities that regenerate, and more loyal lords that actually follow each other around. The sort of thing that made Doomdarks what it was.. oh and copy the Doomdarks keyboard shortcuts because they made gameplay so much easier and quicker.
Game review
:I spent hours and hours playing Solstice and I couldn't get enough of it. The retro-inspired gameplay and turn-based strategy reminded me of some of my favorite games from the 80s and 90s. The world of Dourfrost is rich and full of interesting characters and races, and the scenario "The Rise of the Demon King" is challenging and kept me engaged throughout. The hand-drawn artwork and landscaping technique give the game a unique and nostalgic feel. The indie development team at JimJams Games did an excellent job capturing the essence of classic gaming while adding their own modern twist. I highly recommend Solstice to any fans of turn-based strategy and retro-style games.
Análise do jogo
:Passei horas e horas jogando Solstice e não conseguia o suficiente. A jogabilidade de inspiração retrô e a estratégia baseada em turnos me lembraram alguns dos meus jogos favoritos dos anos 80 e 90. O mundo de Dourfrost é rico e cheio de personagens e raças interessantes, e o cenário "The Rise of the Demon King" é desafiador e me manteve envolvido o tempo todo.

In terms of nostalgia alone, this game wins at life. Even at this early stage, and after only 3 turns I am dead upon the field of battle, brought low by a band of goblins and I absolutely love it.
To follow the development of this title through early access to completion is well worth the price of admission, which is very reasonably priced!

Way back, when I should've been studying hard for O levels, I played Lords of Midnight and its sequel, Doomdark's Revenge. I played them lots. I've often ached to play them again and Solstice seems a faithful and loving homage to the worlds that Mike Singleton created. Really takes me back. God bless you Jim Jams. I feel a sniffle coming on.
