AT A GLANCE

Game Name: Pixel Puzzles 2: Halloween
Original Release: 2019-10-21
Genre Tags: Casual, Puzzle
Estimated Playtime (Campaign): 4-6 hours
100% Achievements Playtime: 4-6 hours
DLC Required for 100% Achievements: N/A
Multiplayer Aspect: None
Replayability: None
Recommended To: Achievement Hunters, Puzzle Lovers

REVIEW
Pixel Puzzles 2: Halloween is a casual, puzzle game.
STORY
There is no story, background, or setup to the game.
GAMEPLAY
All of the puzzles follow traditional puzzle building mechanics. The music and atmosphere are set to the theme of the puzzles. In this case there is no music on puzzle screens, just horror sounds like screams, rattling, and other “spooky” noises. All of the puzzle pieces float around in the side panels and you can place them or move them as needed. There is a rotation mechanic that can be turned off in the options. You can view the puzzle picture for a quick moment with a key press. There are a total of 25 puzzles to solve.
PLAYTIME
The early game is not very complicated however when you get to the third and fourth tier puzzles you are looking at 220, and 350 piece puzzles respectively. Play time is ~4-6 hours to get all achievements and complete all puzzles.
COMPLAINTS
There is nothing specific to complain about for this game.
REPLAYABILITY
There is NO replayability on this game as there is no end game mechanics or puzzle randomness.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend this game to anyone that likes puzzles, people looking for holiday themed games, and to achievement hunters when the game is on sale.

When I finally completed this game a sudden horrifying feeling crept over me as I had come to realise that there was NO STEAM BADGE! Also some of the images were low res and the music was annoying but the shocker at the end there got me good.

Another off-shoot Pixel Puzzles title, this one dealing with Halloween. Loots of spooky images, as well as ones of cookies and displays. Decent enough. Hope eventually the puzzles will segue into Ultimate like the old Pixel Puzzles titles. Like the others, achievements will pop even while off-line.

It is another puzzle sim on the Pixel Puzzles 2 engine. This one is based around that heretical celebration or something. The main problem is that half the pictures are just ugly. If it was released today, you would claim it's AI generated. There's no 4:3 support in a stupid 1d game, so i cannot have a tray, which is not working in widescreen. They game runs in letterboxed just fine. Achievements are working. I actually don't like a half of these pictures.

As good as the other jigsaw puzzles from the pixel puzzle group. The only complaint I have is there is no base picture to work from. The only option provided is a ghost picture overlay which requires continually clicking the button to keep on the screen and feels a lot like cheating.

This one's got the Pixel Puzzles mechanics, which are good. Too bad they did so little with the theme as these deviate wildly into just horror instead of Halloween. The major issue though is in the sound design, or lack thereof. The only music is at the title/puzzle select screen. Otherwise, its just random horror noises on a loop. After finishing this game, I can say that it was disappointing in more ways. Two of the largest puzzles were not challenging in a fun way, but rather frustrating due to muddled details in a field of similar pieces.

There's little indication of effort being put into this one. Several games into the series, piece rotation setting still doesn't save/load properly, and there's still no constant on-screen miniature (like in PPU). The piece counts being in the low range (there is only one 350 pieces puzzle, the rest are no larger than 220), it makes for short sessions - but some more size variety would be welcome

The same game as the other Pixel Puzzles game just with different art, and I have enjoyed playing through these puzzles. I bought it cheap in the complete bundle so it was good value.

I'm honestly really disappointed with this one. I love Halloween and its whole aesthetic, and I enjoy the gameplay of pixel puzzles games. This game just feels so lazy tho, like compared to pp zombies which had cool sometimes, genuinely creepy artwork, this game has just photos. and they're mostly pretty lame photos too. pictures of cookies, pumpkins, graveyards, ect. it's not terrible imagery and as puzzles they're mostly fine, but it's far from exciting. I have similar issues with the pp ultimate halloween dlc packs but at least that's not a full game there's also the issue of limited profile features meaning that this game, though easy to 100%, doesn't count at all to your steam profile. It's a small issue and obviously steam achievements and profile completion are meaningless but it just gives even less reason to care about an already kind of mediocre puzzle game.
