I enjoyed the story. While it contains all the facets of a lovers tale trope from the last 40 years of gaming, that is by no means a bad thing. The art and the playful story is a bed time story that an adult can hear over and over again with spirit of a child. This is a game I would recommend to your standard hero fan or hopeless romantic.

TLDR: Give this game a try, it was enjoyable. I completed this game in around 24 hours and did all the extra content.
Radiant Arc handles the JRPG genre well. Combat is interesting and engaging and the story does not detract from the overall experience. While the overall story is standard fair, the writing really shines with how different each character feels and how they interact with each other, it feels natural which is a feat.
Having 6 party members in combat at a time is a little daunting at first, but once you get used to all the skills, fun combinations can be made. Also, being able to switch and equip members on the fly makes the combat a fun affair.
There are plenty of different pieces of gear that can be found in the games plethora of side dungeons. The best part about the gear is the multitude of passive abilities they have, making equipping all the party members fun. It isn't just a number/stat up, but things as life drain, thunder damage, 10% damage reduction or an innate barrier, it's amazing what you can find.
The developer was kind by adding plenty of stat up items which can make the already individually viable characters even more viable and powerful. Also, there are warps at the end of every dungeon to bring the player to the exit - not required but a really nice aspect to streamline the game and to avoid back tracking.
PROTIP: Don't sell the wooden sword like I did

Honestly one of the better RPG Maker games out there. You can tell there was a lot of effort put into it, from the story to the character dialogue, animations, etc. Overall has some great charm to it. I'm very excited to see the direction the game goes in until the very end!

Radiant Arc is a fun RPG where you will control a hero named Linky as he goes on a quest to save the world. Yes it is RPGMaker but it is one of the much better RPGMaker games out there and definitely worth a purchase if you like RPG's
Pros:
-Engaging Characters and story. The antics of the characters had me laughing throughout the game as I was playing.
-Good balance. The game properly eases you into the challenges throughout the game.
-Nice music!
Neutral:
-Level scaling of enemies. I'm not a fan of it, but at least this game does it well. Most zones show a recommended level and if you are there, you should be able to complete them if you have decent equipment and use decent tactics.
Cons:
-I honestly had none except little nit picks here and there, which honestly is probably more my preference than anything.
Overall it is definitely worth a purchase if you like RPG's, even at full price.

TLDR: 9/10, 100% worth playing if you love classic style RPGs
Radiant Arc is a fantastic RPGMaker game. You control Linky in his quest to help prevent global disaster. Along the way, you discover future party members, develop new abilities, find new and powerful gear, and ultimately how to save the world.
Pros:
- Choose which enemies you fight. No random battles - enemies are sprites on the screen you can either avoid or fight head on (attacking from behind for an advantage).
- Fantastic character progression. The gear, skill system, and leveling system feel immensely rewarding and useful. Probably my favorite part of this game.
- Battle system gives you plenty of options and play styles. DOZENS of different useful abilities on every character and each character with a different specialty. Pure physical attacker, SUPER useful tank, physical attacker with great elemental support, healing, mage, ninja, etc.
- Side areas (and some side quests). From the start, an entire continent opens up to you. A good dozen of side "caves" are open from the very start with recommended levels displayed over the top. Each side area contains special and more powerful gear to find. There are a bunch of these continents for you to eventually explore. You can cheese your way through (trying to avoid the enemies, steal the chests) to gain a more powerful advantage for other areas your actually supposed to be at. I found this extremely entertaining and oddly satisfying. Jumping into an area 10+ levels above me to get some sick gear was fun - especially dying numerous times from the enemies I couldn't *quite* dodge in time.
- Level and map designs are great.
- Pretty substantial game length. May play time was a bit inflated because of leaving the game open while away but I'd estimate a good 20-30 hours to get through everything.
- Very responsive dev
Neutral
- Plot and writing are fairly standard. Characters were unique but not a TON of depth in developing them
- Minor errors, such as the occasional spelling mistake, which are being ironed out
Cons
- Descriptions of some skills are a bit vague. Certain skills that increase base stats appear not to do anything (only the high level skills) but after a battle refresh the stat screen reflects these changes. Took me a LONG time to figure this out.
Overall
- This game is currently $5.99. It is EASILY worth more than double this. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good classic RPG, even with RPGMaker assets. Don't hesitate to pick up this game.
A great RPG that borrows (maybe a little too much) from the RPGs of yesteryear. Plus, some very nice Waifus, if that’s your thing.
What happens when you take the general feeling of Final Fantasy, mix in some extra waifus, season liberally with some impressive maps, and sprinkle with delightful characters? Radiant Arc. You get Radiant Arc.
The game follows the main character, Linky, as he explores out into the world to fulfil his destiny as the Radiant Arc, a being of light destined to save the world from the approaching darkness, much like the original Radiant Arc did 1000 years prior.
At its core, the game is a lovely homage to classic JRPGs, but most specifically Final Fantasy 4. While this is a wonderful backbone for the game to have, at times I felt it may have been borrowing from that source a little TOO much. Still, stellar writing really carried the game, and the combat was wonderfully handled. Complex without being overbearing, but also simplistic without feeling tired and overdone.
About the combat, one thing I thoroughly enjoyed was how it allowed the player to pretty much play how they wanted. Several characters had multiple specs you could gear towards, and you could, for example, have a dodge/evade tank if you really wanted, instead of a regular one sword and board type. Or you could turn Linky from a melee damage to a magic. It just goes on and on. It all really came down to skills used, and mostly gear. Oh good lord the gear.
To say there were hundreds of unique items isn’t an understatement. There is a TON of gear to find in optional dungeons that will be far better than anything else you can buy, and makes exploring these side areas worthwhile. I also highly recommend exploring them all, because it helps to level without making the player feel like they’re grinding, even though technically that is exactly what’s happening.
It wasn’t all roses and sunshine, however. I personally felt that there were simply too many playable characters, with the last two being added in the story’s third act, I believe, and by that time I was getting used to the way I wanted to play, and felt they were simply under utilized. Some characters felt important to the story, but others felt simply tacked on. It can happen with a large cast, and this game is no exception, sadly.
+Impressive world and story
+Interesting and adjustable combat
+Great character designs
+TONS of community cameos
=Lots of Characters, But not all feel Utilized
=While well-written, the story is pretty predictable
=Some encounters rely on RNG a bit too much, or finding that ‘perfect’ rotation
=Good Comedy, but may feel a bit out of place for a game like this
-Easy to fall into a ‘this is my goto party’ trap and not explore other characters
-Borrows a little TOO much from the games it is a homage of (FF4)
-Felt a bit rushed towards the end

They did an amazing job to polish this game with a lovely tailor made menu & interface and lovely artwork. The story may be classic JRPG but it's done so wonderfully. I love the aspect that you can change characters in battle and there are a lot of different personalities that will join your team.
An epic RPG game and one of the best RPG Maker games on the market. A lot of time & effort was put in making this, the love of the developer for this genre is evident.
Highly recommended.

This is an excellent, long, involving game with a great story. Interesting combat and a number of twists and turns in the plot. There is a guide written by the great firefly 130984 (much grateful for the guide - as this is a BIG game) and that guide has a map which helps mightily in such a big game world.
I only had really one quibble - the inventory is huge and there is not way to organise how it presents in the inventory menu - which means that I found I spent a fair amount of time looking for, say, all the possible flails, or swords with certain characteristics, or rings that could prevent stun.
While this IS an rpgmaker game it is one of the best I have played. It is worth paying full price if you are looking for semi-old school rpgs.

Do you like oldschool JRPGs? Yes? Then get this game. It's well worth the price.
I've played enough RPG maker games to know that I should keep my expectations low, but Radiant Arc is a pleasant surprise. The quality is top-notch in just about every category that counts, and the dev has been very active in quickly fixing bugs as they pop up.
Story/Characters:
Here is where my expectations are usually the lowest; frankly, I don't play RPG maker games for the story. But Radiant Arc kept me engaged and interested. The characters are well-written and quirky without being over-the-top, with plenty of entertaining banter and humor.
Battle system/Progression:
It's the classic ATB system with a front/back row and maximum of 6 party members in battle; nothing groundbreaking, but it has enough to keep you interested. 12 party members total, each having a unique playstyle, and a plethora of unique equipment options (seriously, there are a ton of unique weapons/armors/accessories) means there's a lot to play around with. The progression system allows for a fair amount of character customization; you earn skill points on level up that you use to unlock active/passive skills and permanent stat boosts. I'm a big fan of this system personally, so it hooked me right away. There are also a bunch of items that give permanent stat boosts/skill points scattered throughout the world.
Misc:
As soon as you gain access to the world map, there are 9 side areas you can visit. Some are small with just a few items to collect, but several are dungeons with unique rewards. Exploring every corner of every area is generally rewarding, as the equipment and items you find are often useful (you can find a powerful legendary bow before going to the 2nd story location). Few oldschool JRPGs give you lootlust like this game does. Also, the music is really good.
Overall a great game with plenty to do and experiment with, definitely worth your time and money.
