The game is crap. Poor level design. You get what you paid for. Didn't even bother finishing it.

A really good game. But there is a small problem. I cannot keep my setting after i changed it.

lmao this game doesn't even have a continue function. If you die too often (Which will happen thanks to the clunky controls), that's it. Back to square one. Didn't you learn anything from AVGN's videos?

Nice game, it's fun. Just a little headsup though, don't make the same mistake I made and buy the game twice. You only need one device to play the game, there is no co-op or multiplayer, only local co-op. Induced me into error and made me think that you could also play it on two different devices, which you cannot. Otherwise it seems fun.

Seems like a really fun game, bought it to play with my 7 year old daughter who loves it. Problem is on multiplayer no level is completable. Tried the first 4 levels. When we beat it together we enter the castle to endless fireworks. When I do it alone on single player, Foxy walks to the top and the flag flies. If the multiplayer gets fixed this will be a very fun co-op game.

graphics and sound are nice, controls smooth. But this game, as cute and easy as it looks in the first ten levels, becomes quickly very frustrating. Aspects like dying on one hit, only being able to save every so-and-so many levels certainly don't help here. It's not challenging, it's just not fun anymore after a while.

We had lots of fun, was a great experience for two players! Considering the price of this game, it's filled with levels and the mechanics are delightful! Gameplay-wise I saw a few elements that reminded me of Mario, but the levels are unique, and the 3 coins per levels that are hidden most of the time give you alot to do! Some mechanics need a little tweaking, but thankfully the developer has an open ear!
FoxMania: The Quest To Review All Fox Games On Steam!
Conditions for inclusion:

The player character must be consistently a fox; the fox must not be merely a skin or a character option
Must have 100% working Steam achievements
Must not be a visual novel
Game #6: Foxyland 2 Foxyland 2 is a huge, huge improvement over the original Foxyland. Where I called the original Foxyland "shovelware", I can't possibly apply the same label to the sequel. Here, instead of making the whole game out of prefabricated assets, they've hired a graphic artist, and the game looks very nice and crisp. They've also hired a composer, "Hatebit" (whose name is written in graffiti all over the game), and the soundtrack isn't bad - it's catchy, even! Overall, I have no complaints about the presentation of the game. The game consists of about 40 very short levels. And they are very short -- jump a few spike pits, dodge some enemies climb a wall or two, maybe collect some challenge coins, and the level ends. It's fitting because Foxy dies in one hit, so you can't make a single mistake. Some levels have a super-secret flag that opens a bonus challenge level on the overworld map, much like Super Mario World. And for the more challenging levels, there are mid-level checkpoints! I personally enjoyed the style of bite-sized platforming - it's something I don't often see. So why the thumbs-down? Well, despite all the improvements made from the original game, there are still a handful of huge problems that hold it back from being a "good" game, or at least one that I'd comfortably recommend. To begin with, it seems that a very bad issue from the first game was never fixed: the camera. The camera holds Foxy slightly off-center so that he can see farther in front of him, which is normal and expected for a platformer. But the good platformers, like the Mario games, handle this by implementing a "dead zone" in the middle of the screen where the player can move before the camera starts to follow them again. Foxyland instead has the camera rapidly shift to the other side whenever Foxy changes direction! This happens even in mid-air, and even when you're walljumping up a shaft. This is extremely disorienting and will make you absolutely seasick during the precision platforming sections, especially those that have you rapidly jumping from side to side, making it difficult to accurately aim your jumps. Another returning problem from the first game is the poor hitbox detection. While the problems are less noticeable here, it is still possible to get killed by an enemy simply by falling on their head too hard, which (I can only presume) allows Foxy's hitbox to clip too far inside of the enemy, killing foxy rather than stomping the enemy dead. This doesn't happen often, but it's quite infuriating when it does. Foxy can now defend himself by throwing cherries at his enemies from afar. This is cool in concept, but bafflingly, Foxy can only hold 4 cherries at once, and a lot of enemies take 3-4 hits to kill! So what's the point, even? If you're trying to kill a bird, which are arguably the most dangerous enemies, you can't miss once, or you'll just have to run back to a cherry bush and stand there for 30 seconds until the cherries regrow. Why not just allow Foxy to hold 10 cherries at once? Either that, or give enemies no more than 2 HP. Also, the interesting mechanic of hiding behind bushes has come back, but also bafflingly, it's barely ever used anywhere! There are three boss fights in the game, which can only be described as pure trial-and-error. The bosses don't telegraph all of their attacks, giving no indication of where you need to stand if you don't want to be instantly killed. Get hit once and you'll have to start the whole thing over. Finally there's the abysmal lives system. Okay, so the game wants you to pick up coins in the levels, so it gives you an extra life for every 25 coins. But what happens if you run out of lives? The levels are so short that the usual method of taking away mid-level checkpoints doesn't work, and several levels don't even have a checkpoint. So the game's solution? It takes away all your progress since the last "checkpoint" level. Game Over will undo several levels AND take away all your hard-earned secret coins from those levels. In a game with 1-hit KO and so much trial and error, this is absolutely unforgivable. Steam says I played this game for 7 hours, but a good 2 of those hours were just spent farming for lives on level 2-7. So devs, if you're reading this, here's my advice for how to make Foxyland 3 an awesome game: - Give Foxy hit points again. Most of the game's problems could be forgiven if Foxy didn't die in one hit. Save that for a challenge mode! I absolutely would have played a 1-HP challenge mode after beating the game once. This way I'd already know all of the levels and boss patterns ahead of time, making it much fairer. Also, it'd feel better knowing that I chose the challenge myself and the game isn't forcing it upon me. - Let Foxy hold 10 cherries at once. This means less camping at cherry bushes, and little else. - Fix the camera to use the deadzone method. Go play Super Mario Bros. 3, watch carefully how the camera moves, and copy that. - Fix the hitbox problem that makes Foxy die by jumping on an enemy too hard. If these issues were addressed, I'd easily give the game a 6 / 10 or more. This isn't even mentioning an overhaul of the lives system! Maybe the small coins could be permanent collectables required for 100% completion? Maybe there could be a shop system that lets you buy perks with the coins instead? Maybe you could make the levels a little longer so removing checkpoint progress could work? There are several options to consider besides setting the player back 4 levels when they Game Over, which feels unfair and unnecessary. As it is now, I give the game 5.7 / 10 (compared to the first game, to which I gave 4 / 10). That's some good progress! Keep up the pace and your next game might be an excellent one. (Achievement hunters: if you avoid Game Overs by quitting out of the level and going to farm for 1-Ups, you might have this done in as little as 5 hours.)
