Total War: EMPIRE – Definitive Edition Reviews

A classic game that I loved to play when younger. It brings great nostalgia, as much as the other old total war games.

Total War: Empire – Definitive Edition brings back the grand 18th-century warfare of the original Empire, now with all DLC included. You’ll command musketeer armies, massive fleets, and global trade networks as you build (or crush) empires across Europe, the Americas, and India. The real-time battles mix gunpowder warfare with classic Total War tactics, making for intense line infantry duels, devastating artillery barrages, and chaotic naval warfare. The expanded content, including the Warpath Campaign, adds even more strategic depth, especially for players who enjoy long-term world domination. While it still carries some of the quirks of the original (the AI can be… “creative”), it remains one of the most ambitious and immersive Total War experiences. If you love history, grand strategy, and watching cannonballs tear through enemy lines, Empire – Definitive Edition is worth revisiting.

Great game would recommend for such an old game its really worth the money with such huge battles and great attention to detail.

it's got its issues, but I have overall enjoyed it regardless. I recommend checking out its mods as well.

This game is amazing. It is probably one of the best and most fun RTS games I have played recently and it holds up pretty well with its age but sometimes things can be annoying. They don't effect the gameplay too much but can get annoying but for the most part its pretty rare for my case. It has great mechanics and a good system for battles. The maps are decent and you can have good battles but sometimes it's annoying when your artillery can't always reach the enemy and they are just barely out of range. I don't think there should be such a thing stopping them from firing I believe it should give them less accuracy but for infantry units, I think it is fine. I like how the game works and what you can do in it. But please make this just about the Civil War for a new game.

Started playing this game when it first came out on my first steam account. I can and have put a 22 hour gaming succession on this game. One time in high school I skipped going to my last homecoming dance and never regretted it, that was over ten years ago. One will never regret buying and playing this game my only advice is to set a alarm.

liked the game at first, but the errors become evident very quickly. for some reason you are never able to make peace treaties and will be stuck in perpetual war forever until you just get bored and give up. the AI is very biased against the human player which results in all surrounding nations to declare war on you within the first few turns and youre stuck defending yourself against the world forever. which wouldnt be the biggest problem if the game intentionally staged rebellions and revolutions in your territory every time you become stable against outside forces. yawn, uninstalled getting a different game

I've said this elsewhere, but Darthmod for TW: Empire took what was (for me) a very good try, and turned it into something endlessly replay-able for the battle scenes alone. Real colonial sized armies stretched across the pitched field with a full battery reigning down hell, while 200 dragoons gleefully chase down their broken militia/unfortunate conscripted native tribesmen. I suppose it made the naval battles more enjoyable too, but I never really got the hang of managing a full fleet without running into my own ships or losing track of this or that fluyt. As of today this mod is still available at moddb, can be a little tricky for those who have only use the steam workshop mods, but there are youtube videos explaining the process and the launcher takes care of the scripting. Worth the time if you're gonna play the game.

I enjoy the game but it seems to crash a fair amount. Doesn't seem to matter which country I play. Gets annoying.

not my favorite total war game but was moderate compare to other total war games my review is 6/10 the game mechanics was ridiculous even a 5 year old kid could beat the campaign the graphics were bad and the textures of the game also many glitches in the game i only rate this game positive because of sega others total war games this game is waste of my time
