Nice small point'n click in the vein of Shadowgate. I liked the atmosphere, UI and graphical elements enough to play it a second time in three years. It's fast to travel through the whole world, so setbacks like a few instant deaths don't get annoying. There are two quite hard to find items or places which can stump you for a while, but most of the puzzles are pretty straight forward.

Good old-school adventure. Just would like it a bit longer.

An utter mess of a game that fails to play on a pc able to run CP2077 with few issues. Assets do not load, game controls lag and in a matter of minutes it freezes the entire pc.

Well, that was fun! If you have a thirst for a point and click adventure along the lines of Death Gate, Shadowgate, or other 90's/early 2000's adventure titles...Templum De Malum is a good choice. All of the rooms are hand done, the music is perfectly atmospheric and memorable. The story isn't super deep but there is enough lore in the game to keep you going. Most of the puzzles were pretty logical and straight forward...but beware of the torches. You have to be on your toes, and make sure you keep a backup save or two in case they burn out! While the game is perfectly fun, my only gripe is the price point. $14.99 for a title that takes a few hours to get through is too steep. The game is more in line with the $3-$5 adventures you typically see on Steam. Hopefully the game goes on a permanent discount so more people check it out, and the developer keeps making new games in this style! I certainly hope so, because there aren't many that are this good that I've found over the last decade or so.

I loved playing through this game. I played through it live on stream, so I had a lot of help with the puzzles. Some were pretty challenging and gave you a great feeling of satisfaction when you finally found that last piece you needed. The music was incredible. Every room felt drastically different, the music really set the tone for each area. I loved the hand drawn art style and you can tell a lot of time and effort went into it. The animations were well done and the big moments really felt meaningful due to the animations. Overall just a great point and click adventure, I'd definitely recommend it for a laid back rainy day. It's short enough to finish in one sitting but there were a few parts that really stumped me for a while. I'm sure it would have taken me much longer without some help.

For anyone who's enjoyed Shadowgate or games like that, this is a blast! It's not as cryptic as Shadowgate and provides quite a bit of hints in form of the written Journal by the player's companion Brimley, and you can also talk to Brimley in each room and he might give you helpful hints - sometimes even maybe too helpful or obvious. I managed to get stumped for quite a bit of time in two occasions, so my playtime got quite high, but it was just me being an idiot and not realizing obvious things. So I would think the playthrough for the average player will be a lot less than the 7 hours it took me. It has the same kind of a torch system as Shadowgate, although if I recall correctly in Shadowgate the burning of the torches was based on moves taken whereas here it's purely time based. According to the developer it takes about 12 seconds for 1% of a torch to burn. This brings kind of a sense of urgency at first but it's not really that bad. I had several torches left when I finished the game, but then again I often reloaded the game after I had found new places or items after walking around burning the torch, so then I could redo what I did and have plenty of more torch time left. An interesting feature is that the screen becomes darker the less you have fire in the torch. Anyway, I recommend the players to take their time investigating stuff and if they are sure about what to do next, reload the game and proceed, and save the game after you are done. Great game! Recommended for any Shadowgate fan out there.

”Templum de Malum” is an interesting dungeon-adventure game, using point&click mechanics. You play as an adventuring aristocrat, who finds himself shipwrecked on an unknown coast with a sinister-looking temple nearby, and together with his faithful servant ventures in to discover its secrets and defeat the evil inside... Game consists of 1st person-view static screens that are meticulously drawn and look really nice, and you need to use button-commands to interact with the objects on-screen and in your inventory (there are no real puzzles to speak of though). Music is quite impressive, melodious and masterfully composed, and suits the game’s dark and retro style just well (soundtrack can be purchased in addition as DLC). Gameplay is really simple and can be completed just under two hours, and in case you get stuck you can always “talk” to your companion for hints or consult the journal; there is a certain time pressure factor in the form of torches that you need to keep lit, lest you perish in darkness. Despite the game’s shortness the price is favorable, so if you like adventure games and want to play something relaxing and not too difficult, then this is the game for you.

I haven't played a point-and-click adventure games in a long time, and boy did Templum de Malum re-ignite that fire. No two puzzles are the same and are constantly challenging you to think outside the box. The soundtrack was fabulous. I'd download that in addition to the game if it was an option. Hand-drawn aesthetic gives the game a very grounded and authentic feel. I absolutely loved all the interactions you clearly aren't meant to do (trying "Use"ing your buddy Brimley for a funny little easter egg). The torch system keeps you on your toes as well as adding a small difficulty system (as your torch burns out, so does the light making it harder to find the clues you need to continue). Make sure to check the settings (small cog on the UI), the keybinds will help you out immensely in a smoother playthrough. 10/10
