A good story can be played as 2 main characters. Beautifully painted characters. Fun for several hours making decisions about the development of the story.

If you're looking for a good medieval fantasy adventure game/visual novel, you've found it. Once again, "The Dark Eye" universe delivers a well-crafted tale in its expansive setting. The game is very light on "gameplay elements", but heavy on narrative. Do not expect the usual "puzzles" and such from classic point and click adventure games - this is closer to a "choose your own adventure book", so to speak. This is not a "Chains of Satinav / Memoria" kind of game. Its simple story, however, is very well told (an unfortunate rarity these days), and the gameplay mechanics chosen to deliver that story mesh well with the scenes and acts you choose to read/watch. Again, I remain strongly enticed by the setting, cursing that so little material has been translated to english! ^^ Kudos to the design team - hope we get more "forgotten fables" in Aventuria! :)

it was a solid experience, a bit frustrating at times (playing with Nedime, on low health), but all in all an entertaining solo adventure, albeit without rules.

I would give it a moderate review if I could. It is a nice game. It didn't click 100% with me, and soon other games took my time but it was enjoyable for the time I spent on it.

The story is interesting, but that's it. The game itself has zero presentation at all aside from a few effects. No character animations, no voice acting, nothing. You just click through the texts while listening to the background music. But what really spoiled the fun for me was the trial and error. You have to fight battles while managing your MP/stamina while making the "right" decisions to avoid getting hit too often, otherwise it's game over. The thing is, the autosaves are totally messed up, you can even load a savegame where you go straight to the game over screen. So my tip is that you save the game before each chapter. If you've been hit multiple times due to an arbitrary game decision and your HP is low, forget it and just load a previous saved game. At many points in the game, you will lose HP regardless of your decision, so if your HP drops below about 5, you have already lost. Plus, there are not the options a VN should have, like skipping dialogue or see a log of past dialogues. And lastly, I want to say I couldn't even beat the game. There is one point in the story where every decision you take gets you hurt. I chose to play Nedime (the mage) with much less health than the fighter character, and I swear you can't get through the 3rd act (except you try all the options out multiple times until you get the one perfect way I guess...)

I am playing the game with Nadime (Female Mage) as the player character and hence till now, it felt like "The 13th Warrior" to me. Music is nice and the illustrations portray the dark fantasy setting perfectly. Looking forward for more such visual novels/games from the developer.

Nice adventure. We need more adventures set in Aventuria, hopefully we get another rpg there too. Pity there aren`t any romance options.

This visual novel is awesome! The story and characters are intriguing, and the artwork is beautiful. The music is excellent and perfect for the setting. 10 hours in playing as the male protagonist and thoroughly enjoying the experience!

I know and love the setting and never had problems with large batches of text in games, but this is just not fun. There are too many sentences that are just filler and don't make the scenes any more immersive, it's just a strain for the eyes. And they are also written in a way where it's not naturally flowing, pleasant to read text like in a book. On top of that, the sentences are always at the bottom of the screen, so 90% of the time you are not looking at the cool scenes, but just a narrow sliver of the screen below. There are some rare moments when there is player agency, but the interaction with the game during those times is exactly the same, so there is no break from the same tiring formula at all. The story and immersive pieces seem great, the medium chosen is just bad. I wish they would go with what they did for the Chains of Satinav and Memoria games.

I am glad I bought this game on sale. I do not think I would pay full price for it. I do not typically play purely narrative-based games, but I do appreciate the depths brought to the characters. They are all very human with very relatable thoughts and feelings. I was brought out of the immersion by some of the typos. It definitely could use some polishing in that aspect. Overall, 3/5.
