Good graphics, many beautiful tracks, good eneregetic music. Unfortunately when weather changes you cant see walls very well and hitting wall slows your car significantly. Strange car driving mechanics, some races you will win by just holding full throttle and then next race you need to break properly and maintain good driving line and still you will struggle to maintain good position. Some RWD cars will lose traction even on asphalt and even when they are positioned just 10 degerees to driving direction so with controller it is hard to apply enough throttle just to drive very fast and not drift. Winning all the time and strange car mechanics make game somehow pointless.

Graphics are very good, soundtrack is OK. Some grinding is needed to make the credits roll but it is a fun game. It is probably the hardest arcade game I've played because the AI opponents don't make any mistakes so if you make one, there is high probability you will not get first spot or even top 3. At medium settings 4 GB VRAM (GTX 1650) occasionally becomes insufficient for this game but it ran well 99% of the time. It crashed only once during 14 hours of my gameplay.

This game's tough to place. There's the typical "it's nothing like previous DiRTs, so it's bad" angle; and the "if it wasn't called DiRT, it'd be a respectable arcade game" angle. I guess both are true. There's moments of fun in it, and it's fun driving a good line and avoiding hazards at high speeds in some of the thoughtfully-designed courses. There's also some mastery needed with Manual gearing, because you have to know when to prioritize high torque, or when you need to prioritize maximum speed. And sometimes it really does capture glints of what made DiRT great when you're fighting the AI trying to scrape past a tough and bumpy corner at high speed. But after maybe an hour of play, you begin to notice that the physics feel REALLY vague and mushy, and that more often than not full-throttle is the only way to go. And it basically feels like you're just massaging a hunk of frozen meat to get it to turn, with unimpactful vehicle and wall collisions. That feeling, combined with the soulless feeling while racing, in the menus, and the loading transitions just make the game feel bland, and make me wonder why I'm even playing it. Then there's the uneven difficulty. I played it on Very Hard, and a number of events were too easy, but certain events sometimes took me a dozen tries before I could fluke-out a win. And some event types like the Ice Skating events just aren't much fun - and the Gymkhana events are downright terrible, where it feels like you're actively fighting your car in claustrophobic environments where you have no room to express yourself. Overall, it is a decently fun arcade game if you don't attach the DiRT name to it. But the fun always feels short-lived, since I always want to put it down after about 30 minutes - a far cry from DiRT 2 & 3 each sucking up 45 hours of my life in the blink of an eye. Go grab Gravel when it goes on sale for $2. It's the best analog I can find to DiRT, especially since every DiRT game but this one is currently deslisted. https://store.steampowered.com/app/558260/Gravel/
