Well before i played the HD remaster i think its like atleast 20 years ago i last played Grandia. And i remember most of it to this day, i was maybe.. somewhere between 8 and 10 when i started my first playtrough. So it had a huge impact on me as a kid, ofc the game is old and has some flaws. But god damn do i enjoy it! The nostalgia is crazy and the story is still good to this day. Found it alot easier now tho than i did 20 years ago, but then again my last spells wasnt locked until lvl 99 on one of the characters (yes the original game had a bug in some cases). If you like old school JRPGs this is for you, but if graphics is a need you have this might not fit you (Again the game itself is hella old). Best damn money i've spent on steam for quite some time honestly. Games today feel so... lazy. I've played roughly 60 hours now and i'm not done with the story yet. All tho its worth mentioning i'm also a bit och a completionist when it comes to this one. But its definitely time to spend for the money paid. Unlike most games you buy today and complete in maybe 1 to 3 sittings. I can only say i haven't regreted my decision to buy the HD remaster at all. But its not going to be for everyone, and due to kind of a slow start of the game i'm not even sure people would get the soul of the game before steams 2 hour refund policy. So do some looking into it, unless you are a fan of old JRPGs.. But i give this bad boy of a game 10 out of 10 hands down. And i'll probably play it again in the future.

As good as I remember it being in the early 2000s just with cleaner textures and resolution.

Great pacing, fun and likable characters. Interesting combat, the IP gauge system is like ATB from FF games but you can push back or cancel you opponents turns. You can cheat enemies out of their turns if you getting your timing right. Their is also the leveling. Just hitting stuff will leave your stats unbalanced. To not leave any weakness you need to use multiple weapons and learning all the magic types. It makes combat less repetitive and gives you little goals to work toward. It's a light hearted story about a boy and his friends on a grand adventure, quite enjoyable so far. If you dislike the blurry sprites and textures there is a guide on the steam forums to remove it. Just delete a bunch of specific files out of the game's directories. The game is playable on the Steam Deck/Linux if you use a specific proton version and add some native windows files to the prefix. ProtonDB explains what to do.

Great game with a great soundtrack. The story, characters and the adventure theme/world are fun and so is the combat despite being way too easy. English voice acting is pretty bad but most of it isnt voiced anyway or you can choose japanese instead. The remaster also ruined some of the pixel art but I still recommend it overall.

I picked up this game because I never managed to finish it in the days of the original Playstation (damaged disk). On the one hand, that means I'm biased by nostalgia. On the other, I still want to play after 20 years. As for what to expect? I like the skill system the most, with the way that new skills are learned by advancing proficiencies. Looking back, the game is also a snapshot into another age with characters and design details that would never be approved for the modern audience. I strongly recommend using a controller to play this game. It was designed for the use of dual joysticks, and the keyboard controls just don't cut it.

A long time ago (prob 10-15years) a friend of mine gave me a game on ps1. I played it and had a blast. Then a week ago i got a itch, i searched and searched but i could not find it. I then reached out to him, tried to see if he could remember. And he did, and here it is! This game is one of the best turn based game i played and its as much fun as i remember it. Nostalgia 10/10 Graphics 10/10 Story 10/10
