I bought this 'cause the dev begged for money on YouTube. It's really cool how the same graphics can be remixed in fundamentally different ways. The ninja game was the most intuitive to me, but the others are intriguing remixes of very old game mechanics. I recommend this to anybody interested in creative game design.

I don't fully understand what I just played and I don't have to. Well executed (theme, atmosphere) and well done (very playable games)!

high score minimalistic vextrec looking games. Probably can run on a potato computer so its not a bad game to have around.

Though the theme is kinda abstract, the detail is well-sculptured, like the explosion and dispersion effect. 4 characters lead to 4 different gameplays. Each one combines 2-3 mechanisms from retro/arcade games. The pilot one is too hard for me.

No instructions but the games are simple enough to where you can understand them pretty quickly. Once that's done you've got 4 minimalist high score arcade games to play through, and a horde of achievements to aspire towards. Simple, pure, worth checking out.

I got the game mainly for the cool 1-bit aesthetic. I got the impression, based on the screenshots, that there would be a bit more of a story to it; in fact, the narrative is isolated to short (but cool) cutscenes at the start of each of the four mini-games the main game consists of. The mini-games are not exactly my cup of tea, but not a bad way to kill a bit of time, either. Each game takes a simple game mechanic and adds a twist to it. A nice touch is that the level layout changes as you play it, keeping things interesting despite the player being confined to a single screen.

4 nice "atari-like" games. Really nice gameplay with some very original twists. Good pick when its in sale. Could have use of Steam leaderboards.

I'm playing Steam games in alphabetical order and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/TZlF8iPYf-M Prefer to read? If you're a fan of super retro games with a modern twist, this game will be right up your (arcade) alley. While it's technically not 1-Bit, the visuals and sounds are all straight from the arcade era, including the difficulty level. There are 4 games available here: Spy: A cross between Bomberman and Pac-Man. Place bombs to kill squares while navigating an ever shifting maze. Solid experience, if a little slow to start. Pilot: An Asteroids style game with added powerups and enemy types, with a boundary wall. Controls feel terribly floaty, just like the game it was inspired by. Explorer: A dominoes style matching game where you capture enemies in blocks and then match them to deal damage. Ninja: Side scroller platformer with action combat, where the room can spin to change gravity, and new platforms are randomly generated. Fend off waves of squares with varied abilities, and use either skillful movement or powerups to break through enemy shields. There are also plenty of achievements on offer, but you'll need to sink several hours into the game to obtain any of them. Due to the nature of the game it's a tough one to recommend to the average player, but if you're an arcade-style game enjoyer, you'll have a good time.

Technically there are 4 arcade games here so I am going to briefly describe what they are. It has an asteroid game, matching game, a pac-man(ish) arcade, and a platformer. As far as I can tell they are not exact copies when it comes to classics, but they work on the same basic principle. In general, I like how all of the games work, it's just that achievements would take extremely long time to grind. The thing is, you would have to play them a lot for the difficulty to pick up, it's just not something that I would spend my time on. Each game seems to get harder upon getting a specific score, and occasionally they introduce new elements such as harder enemies. It actually has a save function so you don't have to grind achievements in one playthrough, but it only saves in specific spots. You can change the keyboard (default is Z+X+arrow keys) and it can be played on my 360. Frankly, I really like the presentation of the game with its minimalist cutscenes and catchy soundtrack.
Pros:
+ 4 decent arcade games + it saves progress, but only at milestones + cool presentation, catchy soundtrack + can change keyboard controls + many achievements to grind
Cons:
- I don't have any problems with it Overall Thoughts: 8/10 Look, I really like everything about this package and the way it was presented. The achievement goals are just very time-consuming for me to reasonably go after them. I know some people love a therapeutic grinding, and I think it can work in that regard.
