12/30/2022 AND STILL NO CONTROLLER SUPPORT!
Despite the game script references Xbox buttons as if it assumes you are using an Xbox controller, Xinput is NOT supported in this game. Confirmed with a Microsoft and third party controller. So you're thinking, okay, it's RPG Maker, DInput is also supported by default. A reasonable assumption, but you'd be wrong again. Somehow RPGM's default support for XInput and DInput has been removed. I have no words to describe how unacceptable that is.
The game itself:
I'm in an ideal place to like this game, being someone that appreciates simple RPGM games and someone that was an indy pro wrestler IRL. Unfortunately, this...does not operate on RPG logic or pro wrestling logic. The wrestlers you look up to have intentionally ridiculous gimmicks that parody cartoonish 80s wrestling gimmicks or would fit in in a David McLane promotion. To follow this logic, every minor interaction you have outside the ring becomes part of your wrestling gimmick in kayfabe. An example: somehow you not being a kissa** in a private conversation becomes public knowledge and every potential wrestling fan dislikes you because of it. I guess every wrestling mark in this world reads dirt sheets and every worker in the world is a stooge.
My second gameplay gripe: you permanently lose HP and STR every day you do not go out of your way to train and eat. You lose the stats when the day begins and have the potential to train and eat back to where you were, if you make it a priority. The game says this is to simulate aging/decay/atrophy from lack of training, but that's not the way it works. With proper training you can do Hindu squats or kettlebell swings everyday, but three times a week is about it for serious compound lifts without amazing genetics and chemical enhancement. When you adjust for relative time and money per day, it is easier to do legitimate strength training in real life than it is within the confines of this game's daily time system. I should never say it is easier to be a professional combat athlete in real life than it is your video game in any context.
Strike the third: The combat system. My main issue here is there is no real sense of how much HP you have. You don't lose when your HP hits 0, you fall to the ground and it gives your opponent a chance to pin you. Spam buttons and you might kick out, sometimes giving you more HP than you had at the start of the match. Because that makes sense, apparently. For the actual menu-based combat system, you may or may not enjoy it. I found it tedious and tiresome, but maybe it would grow on me in time,
I'm cutting my losses and tapping out here. If controller support is fixed at some point in the future I'd be open to trying it again, but it looks like the game was abandoned when an attempt to crowdfund an expansion only got 2 pledges. This is nowhere near fun enough to suffer through playing an RPG with a keyboard. I'm not sure if it's as bad as a Bryan Alvarez match, but it's a solid negative ***1/2.

Too much rpg, not enough wrestling. I am a fan of both rpg's and wrestling games, but there are precious few wrestling games out there and many rpg-maker rpg's. I played it for a while to finally get a chance to get into the ring, but to my disappointment I learned that either you or your friend must be eliminated from the game, the loser being out. I don't like that, since that does not remind me of wrestling. Some jobber wrestlers go for most of their careers without winning a match, but they keep their jobs by being entertaining. To me this is something like a simpler Stardew Valley with too many game-overs (1 is too many), and therefore I cannot recommend it.

This was a let down. Complete the game and then put a price tag on it.

This might be a good game. I can't tell. I wanted to support this small indie dev, and a wrestling RPG. The keyboard and mouse controls are very bad. I have a PS4 controller, and the game doesn't recognize it, even when I set up a controller configuration in Steam Big picture. The first thing you do in the game is pick your name. The keyboard lets you delete the default name, but doesn't let you use keys to type in a new name. The PS4 controller also doesn't work for this. This is the first Steam game I've ever played that did not accept big picture control configurations. I mean the game doesn't recognize the controller at all. I know everyone is busy now, but I posted a question to the dev in the discussion forum, to figure out the issue with the controls. That was January 5th, 2021, and I still have not heard anything back. I'm not even asking for updates to the game. I'd be happy with just controls that work. Play the free demo and see what I'm talking about. Really sad to see what might well be a good game, in this state with the most basic thing overlooked. How will the player actually interact with the game. If Steam Big Picture modified controls start working, or if the keyboard and mouse start working as controls for this game, I'd play more and most likely give it a positive review. You also can;t say until you finish day one. Which means you'll get to trial and error things, restarting the game over an over, and playing through the same intro, just to see if whatever you did has fixed/added game controls. There's no way I can recommend this game, and purely because it's a small indie developer who took a risk on a new concept, I'm not returning the game. It will sit in my Steam Game list for no real reason. This is one of the first games in 6 years on Steam, I've given a negative review to.

I'm not a huge wrestling fan, but I do enjoy Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley type games so I thought I'd give this a try. It's a great game so far, it has a nice balance between fun and challenge and the world is very detailed. I was a bit worried about the controls after reading some of the reviews, but I've had no issues - it was easy to play and everything was well explained.

I love games like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. I also find professional wrestling interesting. I admit I have never watched it religiously, but I do enjoy the idea of it and I like games about it. I used to like games like WWE Smackdown vs. Raw back when that existed and I now like games like TEW where you manage a wrestling organization. I ran across this game on steam about a week ago, and was instantly interested. I have played a little less than an hour so far, but let me tell you, if the rest of the game is as good as it has been so far, it is a fantastic game! It perfectly blends together elements of professional wrestling, life-simulation like Stardew Valley, and RPG combat in the form of wrestling matches! The combat element seems a little show ATM, but I expect that is because I have not gotten far into the game yet. I think this is a wonderful game and an extremely unique idea, and if you like life simulation games and pro wrestling, this is a must own!
