Nicely done (Golden Axe heavily inspired) beat'em up with good gameplay mechanics, beautiful graphics and funny music.

A Golden Axe homage with Chimpunks? Sign me up! It's a bit repetitive--but then so is the source material.

This is the greatest game of all time. Cheeks is single handedly the BEST character PERIOD in any medium. If you were to ask yoko tarro or kojima what their inspiration for their games were, they would instantly label chipmonk. Buy this game and you'll see. You'll all see.

Clearly inspired by classic beat 'em ups, Chipmonk somehow manages to solely take the worst parts of those games whilst carrying other none of what made them fun, resulting in one of the most unremarkable, boring beat 'em up experiences you can possibly get. The game was clearly made with love, but that doesn't save it from being utterly mind-numbing.

You play as a chipmunk with a sword, capable of calling down whales and fish by consuming mushrooms you get from beating up flies. If that sounds funny to you its worth a play. It can be frustrating at times because enemies often charge you from off screen and a few levels have fall hazards that cost your entire life (and you can't gain more 1ups or continues).

Cool Golden Axe clone with a funny twist. If you are a fan of retro 8 to 16-bit side scrolling beat em ups and hack n slash games then you will probably enjoy this. It's nothing revolutionary and the gameplay is a bit stiff with questionable hitboxes at times. Still if you want that retro feeling, this really lives up to that. Gave me flashbacks of my childhood and playing Golden Axe 1 & 2 in my room with friends. Pros: + Nice pixel graphics + Authentic retro feeling + Coop + Humor (Chipmunk Golden Axe) Cons: - Maybe slightly high in price (7,39€) for this sort of game that caters to a very specific type of nostalgic player. Not a big deal but 4-5€ might be more reasonable - No trading cards

3,5 y.o. niece was totally delighted, now asks for *the badger game* every time. 10/10 convenient options to educate your toddler about small rodent population of the nearest park.

[i] It's a tribute to Golden Axe where each character is some kind of animal. It plays almost exactly the same, very similar controls and move set, minus the rides. You can pick one of 3 characters that have slightly different stats like speed, health, and throwing distance. Just like in Golden Axe, each individual can store special attack meter to unleash area-of-effect attacks. There are 3 different modes which include the arcade, survival and PvP (you can play them in a local coop, not sure if the new Steam feature would allow online play though). I died on the last boss, but the game is not very long, maybe an hour, with no replay value unless you want to grind some achievements. Overall, I don't have any big issues, I had fun playing it - works exactly as I would expect from a faithful imitation. The only thing I didn't like was the soundtrack, it was actually a bit irritating, certainly not one of the best OSTs that Golden Axe is known for. Buy it, if you love old beat'em ups, just don't expect a lot of replay value.
