My first Picross game - very fun and great for beginners :3 For 79 cents a total steal

I wanted a simple picross game that would play on the Steam Deck, and this one works well. I wasn't really excited about the RPG aspects, but ended up liking them. Don't let the 'extra' stuff discourage you from getting the game. It's still basic picross, and still a fun way to pass time. My 12 hours of playing represent a 100% completion.

This game tries to mix the slow puzzle picross with time based monster fighting mechanics. It ends up diluting the puzzle bits to make this work, making for a less enjoyable experience. As a picross game, it doesn't provide any way to make pencil marks and due to the monsters you are forced to make guesses even when you aren't sure.

For a Picross game, it's pretty nice! It gradually increases the difficulty in a very nice way, unlike most Picross titles that just skip you directly to Hintless Picross once you reach 20x20!

The clue marking system is overly eager and greys out clues which are not yet surrounded by crosses. This constantly trips me up and forces me to go at a snails pace. If this was a different game, this might be a good thing, but PictoQuest IS about going fast.
I would rather turn off any clue marking, but there are no gameplay options, only minimal display and sound settings.

This game is fucking stupid because of the stupid fucking timer. Instead of being able to go through the challenge of using your brain to figure out the nanogram puzzle, you get fucked by ATB shit which ultimately ruins the entire experience completely. Right when i'm getting ready to finish the puzzle, my HP hits zero. Yeah no.. Fuck this game

Fun Picross game. Well worth it especially if bought on sale with the amount of puzzles.
I've been playing this daily for 2 weeks around lunch break & evening on steam deck and finally completed it today.
Puzzles are a mix of combat (timed) and chest (will drain your gold if you guess too many incorrect tiles). Some of the combat-themed puzzles took a few attempts for me to complete since sometimes I didn't balance the timing in between correctly triggering rows & columns so I get hit a lot or rush to the point I make mistakes and get hit.
I didn't really like relying on the items from the shop
(aside from the health expansion which was quite steep to obtain in the beginning)
that assist with solving the puzzle and would say the game is doable without using any items. Pretty fun & cozy game to play while resting.
