2 out of 2 children in my household recommend this game. But it's not something I'd be willing to play for longer than 20 minutes in one go.
UPDATE 3 months later:
If you have 5 minutes and need to reward your children or take your mind off things, this is the game. It takes 10 seconds to start and 5 minutes later (5 one minute games), everybody has a smile on their face. Easily the most concentrated fun you can have in 5 minutes. Works well on Linux and with crappy controllers.
There are things I'd change, though. I need a level editor (not just for the legacy version) and access to some library of user generated levels would also be great. I would also like to blacklist a level or two.

While this game could do with more levels (or if the level editor could finally be added to the main version of the game and not just stuck with the Legacy version), its surprising how much fun this game is despite being pretty simple

This is a great spiritual successor for Jump'n'Bump, but HopSquash goes above and beyond what you want from this kind of game, highly recommended!
It works with Xbox controllers, has bright, charming pixel art graphics and optional blood that can be turned off for those who need it. AI is decent enough to give you a challenge while you are learning the controls, and having multiple people against each other and AI is even better.
If you have any issue with High DPI screens in HopSquash Legacy (the other is fine), just add the "-mx" command line option in Steam's launch options of this game.

Picked this up on sale but wholly recommend at full price for a bit of fun. Especially if you played this when younger and want some nostalgia. Worked well using steams remote play system. The only cons I have are small maps and lack of map editing ability unless using the legacy mode. For the most part the maps that are in the game are good, I would just prefer to be able to make some that are more to my liking.
Fully recommend!

This game is just adorable and fun! Even though I have to be honest, it took me a few minutes to figure out I can jump out of the ground in the main menu (so if you were struggling with the same, you are not alone!) :D But after this initial hurdle everything was just smooth. The gameplay is polished, art is retro-amazing and MUSIC is just absolutely insanely catchy.
I disliked being in the water as it slowed down my overall fast gameplay, but other than that I don't have complains. I praise the different level designs and backgrounds and most importantly I praise the different animals!

Very fun game! I espexcially enjoy the family friendly blood explosion that appears when you jump on a character :)

So far, pretty fun! I like the music, the art style, its great! My only complaint is the lack of online battles. I want to play locally, or match up with my friends via friend battle. Thats just my nitpick though. The AI is challenging so I don't mind too much.

This game is great! I loved Jump 'N Bump back on my older computers and this captures the feel of it perfectly! There was a great sense of community around the old game as well, people would create their own levels and share them online. So the inclusion of a level editor was a no-brainer. It's a simple level editor that's absolutely a breeze to use. I played around with it some and was able to create some simple levels in just minutes. I hope you can get steam workshop integration up soon! it'd be awesome to see everyone's levels :D
I do have maybe a couple suggestions:
1. Since the Down button doesn't really do anything I don't quite see the point in having to push jump and down at the same time to go through a semi-solid platform (or whatever you call those.) It'd be a bit simpler if you just had to press down.
2. it'd be cool if in levels with no platforms at the bottom the characters would "loop" around to the top of the screen and keep falling (or maybe add some new mechanic to the game like teleporters which could accomplish the same goal and more)
Overall, great job in re-imagining a classic!

Scratching that itch you didn't know you had: Playing oldskool Jump'n'bump with your friends and a lot of ai-controlled opponents in one-minute-bouts. Resulting in ultimate cutesy carnage! Way too much fun for its own good...
