Very fun. It's a mix of skill and luck. Well designed game, good concept. Hard. Be prepared for some bugs, as sometimes you can collect all needed items (orbs??) and it won't attack, instead just throwing you into the wraith and killing you.

Pretty fun, very difficult. Wish there was a separate key for the attack on the wraith, sometimes the dash doesn't trigger properly. Also sometimes the respawn invincibility is too short and you can't prevent dying. Overall though it's a fun game, I like to play it while I listen to podcasts until I get too frustrated and rage quit.

The game is very good itslef, but it has some problems. 1. Luckyness. If the boss wants to kill you in 0.3 seconds, it'lll use the hadest attacks, or just use an easy to evade one. I trying to say that in the same phase, the attacks are not balanced. 2. Glitches. I know it's in early acces, but, i gave to point them out, sometimes if i dash throught the boss with my attack ready, i'll do nothing and I would die. But, the game is amazing, the soundtrack is astonishing and the artwork is a masterpiece. Hope to see new updates

Almost a good game. My main issues... -I beat the initial boss in 15 minutes, and then reached the final phase of the "true" boss 7 minutes after that. So it is totally possible for someone to beat this game within 20 minutes of buying it, which is a pretty small amount of content for 5$. -The games movement mechanics do not allow you to be as precise as it sometimes requires you to be. This results in the game feeling very luck based because you can get put in positions where there is literally nothing you could have done to survive. You can only dash, there is no way to do small incremental movements, so there are many situations where dashing in any direction will kill you because of the fixed distance you are forced to move. -Going fast enough and getting lucky patterns often times trivializes the game. If you are quick enough grabbing the orbs you can basically burn down the different phases so fast that you only see 1-2 attack patterns per phase. This ends up making the entire game feel like a lottery. Either you get lucky with orb spawn locations and attack patterns and its pretty easy, or you get unlucky and it just feels very unfair by comparison. There is no middle ground. -The 1 hit death mechanic is not fun when paired with so much RNG. The fights should be extended and you should be given 2-3 hearts. This will give you a chance to negate the occasional unnavoidable death as well as extend playtime.

Amazing. The soundtrack is amazing and the controls are really easy to pick up. The mechanics are easy to grasp and after a few runs I'm just hooked! For those that played Roguelands or Magicite and were addicted to the dash mechanic, like myself, and wanted more than this game is perfect for scratching that itch. If you have some pocket change, I highly recommend you try this game out!

Straightforward, addicting boss-rush, die-if-you-get-hit-once gameplay. The desire to play "one more round" is through the roof! And the movement somehow feels unique and fun! Getting in the zone with this game feels amazing! And very souls-like in the way that you win by getting better and learning patterns, and a tiny bit of luck in how and when those patterns come out at times. Highly recommended!

(TLDR at the end) Thought I'd write a review since I just got the record for endless mode, and can proudly say I'm first to hit 100 in endless mode (108). Well needless to say I very much enjoy the game, it's very good to kill a bit of time, although I usually find myself playing it for extended periods of time. It's one of the few games that I haven't gotten tired of and don't see myself getting tired of.
Concept/Story
Fairly simple concept, there are bits of story that you unlock as you get achievements, for those who enjoy plot.
Price
I would say it's well priced, since the content is limited compared to more expensive games. There's 3 game modes: Wraith (normal mode), True Wraith (hard mode), and Endless.
Mechanics
As someone mentioned, you can beat the game pretty fast. Beating it isn't all that difficult as you learn to navigate with Up-Down-Left-Right, but getting a good run does require skill, consistency and luck. Speaking of which, personally one negative about the speedrunning aspect is that I see this game as easy to learn hard to master, but you don't really need to be a master to get a really good run. So it comes down a lot to luck, especially when speedrunning True Wraith. I would say consistency and attention to detail is the hardest part about this game. As for the people who were saying that the controls are weird/imprecise/bad, it's definitely something you get used to. I would argue that with the given controls, upon learning them, you can move very very precisely (You can often graze obstacles with confidence because they either have your speed or go slower).
Glitches
I've found maybe 4 - 5 glitches total in my time of playing this game, and I wouldn't say any of them are experience ruining nor game breaking, and some could be argued to not be glitches at all. Overall, you won't come across them often, very well made 👍.
Improvements
1. I really wish you could skip the end screen. When speedrunning I keep track of the time and if I see it's not a record I just die before the last attack because it's literally faster to restart the game rather than wait for the end screen to finish. 2. Would love for there to be an option to hide the counter in endless mode. Only reason I was able to get the record is because I kept gaslighting myself into believing I wasn't that high up and forced myself to not look at my score, otherwise I choke (choked at 49 hits 3 times before I hit 50 hits). 3. Also for endless, it would be cool if we still saw the time that it took to get a specific run, so people could compete for consistency by checking fastest to get 50 or something along those lines. 4. A bit ambitious, but a sandbox mode would be lit. Like it wouldn't count to the leaderboards and you could see how fast you can complete 9 hits without obstacles, and other stuff (could implement lots and lots of things).
Overall/TLDR
Very good, would recommend, priced nicely, nice small story/concept, precise movement, easy to learn hard to master, little to no glitches.

I open this game when I want to kill a few minutes and then I look at my clock and realize that I've been playing for 3 hours. Dashing around and dodging bullets trying to get faster times and a better score, thinking I should take a break but then convincing myself to try just one more time. If this was a game at an arcade I would feed it quarters for days. A solid 10/10 from me, looking forward to anything new they might add to this gem.

fun, but there are some things that ruin it. 1. controls are funky as hell. you have to repeatedly press the button in one direction and you're affected by gravity, which makes it hard to dodge attacks 2. attack patterns are random and completely unpredictable. you can't memorize any attack patterns, so every run is RNG based

Wraithslayer is an interesting take on the twitch-style arena shooter genre. Like most titles in this niche space (ie. Akane or Tormentor X Punisher), the experience is small, yet potent. The price-point pretty much says it all. If you are compelled to really put your skills to the test, you'll likely get a lot of mileage out of games like this. At this point, I'll buy anything Sean Young is involved in because the projects are always outside-the-box thinking with a more-than-fair asking price. This is no exception. Essentially, this is a single screen bullet hell dodge-em-up with one central boss. You need to collect three 'orbs' and then you can use your body to hurt the boss. Three hits moves you on to the next phase. You die in one hit. The store page boasts 'procgen AI/boss battles', but unless I'm missing something, that is a bit misleading. I haven't found anything 'procgen'. I have found that there is a pool of boss attacks, and what order you get them in seems to be random. Other than that everything is pretty much the same, and that's fine. At first the movement system is super awkward, but after about 30 minutes I was getting much more dexterous with it. The whole thing is fun in a one-more-run kind of way. Pros: +Fresh take on the twitch-style arena games +The price-point is more than fair +The artwork and music is nice Meh: =The lore fragments are neat, but the story really doesn't feel like it fits the setting Cons: -No pause button, and I can't justify that here -I think the term 'procgen' is misleading on the store page -Your mileage really will vary depending on how compelled you are to play this style of game -This is a neat idea that really could have been expanded into a more fuller experience Wraithslayer is a neat and original indie game experience. Worth full price.
