Played this originally as an arcade game at a barcade in Beacon. It's fun as hell. I love that you can either fight or play kickball. I just unlocked GrandMaster mode! My only complaint is the voiceovers including how they interrupt the soundtrack in the background. I mute them, but that also takes away the bonus commentary that pops up on the screen. So then I mute the whole game, but I like to hear the sfx and the BGM....... Ah yes its a vicious cycle. Seriously though, this game kicks ass.

The good -
* Immediately accessible
* It has bots so you're not coming to the multiplayer party with a game you aren't sure is good.
* It lets you practice while you're search for a quick game and has a QR 'discord me' link while you do it.
* Super satisfying to hit that ball.
* 'teleport' lets you hop quickly enough that as a 1v1 that you can play both defense and offense.
* Pleasant sports experience. I like the sports games, but I don't want to have to quit my job and study full-time to play them.
The 'meh'
* the physics of the 'dudes' felt weirdly 'helium filled' and/or 'heavy' at the same time. Changing direction seemed to have a bit of a momentum to it. It wasn't my bag but at the same time, I found myself getting used to that just being how they are and compensating a bit. So this earned a 'meh' as this wasn't bad, but it also could have been better.
* There isn't a super huge community going on for this, but it isn't completely dead either. It's only 'mostly dead' and I'm not sure this game lends itself to remote play together.

Fun game, best with friends.
I've played a lot more KungFu Kickball than my Steam playtime would suggest including taking first in a tournament at a game convention, and will be happy to play more.

Reeaaaally fun game to play with friends. Something about the stress of getting knocked out while the other team kicks the ball towards your bell keeps me hooked. It's a perfect game for 2 or 4 players. The single player arcade mode is okay as well, but the AI definitely feels wonky. Overall it's a perfect mix of fighting and soccer thats perfect for couch co-op.

Wonky physics, crazy interactions, and quirky easter eggs that look all too familiar. What else could you want in a game where you live out your own Kung Fu Movie?

I have played the everliving hell out of this game at various conventions, playtest events, and even on its arcade cabinet in Brooklyn. So excited to finally have a copy of my very own so I can dragoon all my friends into playing with me!! A perfect game for high-octane, competitive fun on a game night. Ezpz to pick up, difficult to master. 10/10 recommend.

Awesome game, I just played it online with a few friends. Everything worked, we had a good time and a good laugh. The music and art is really cool. It's got the 70s kung fu movie vibe and cartoony. We played all of the levels, and they offer a surprising good variety of gameplay.

Really fun game entirely focused on the concept of smash X rocket league. Game play and mechanics are smooth and overall feels very polished. Downsides of the game however, is little to no online matchmaking due to the tiny player base as well as the bots being stupid at times, to at worst, downright infuriating. Overall, definitely worth a buy if you're a smash or rocket league enthusiast, and even if not, give it a go, the game is surprisingly fun.

fun casual yet challenging game.
the controls are intuitive (i picked them up immediately), but there are also special controls you need to learn on your own, which adds depth. for example, you can fast fall, slide, down-smash, and up-smash (to use smash-terms). there is more.
similar to Rocket League, the floaty-ness and overall lack of control takes awhile to get used to. but when you do, it's fun.
you can do couch co-op, online, and against A.I. there are other modes too. sadly, there aren't a whole lot of people playing online, so if you want to play random people, i'd try the discord. (edit: i also haven't even tried online and other reviews mention it's laggy, so might be better to play locally or using something like parsec.)
there are different, not-so-unique playable characters. each character has different speeds as well as specials (holding the attack button does a special move). in my experience, the specials aren't too impactful, since they take too long to charge up, which means i prefer the [strike]cutest[/strike] fastest character.
there is a skill curve in learning both the mechanics and the maps. i've discovered tricks to bring the ball to the goal in ~4 seconds (almost) without fail - as long as the enemy doesn't interfere. lots of strats to discover like that.
the A.I. overall is great. i'm currently trying to complete the highest difficulty in arcade mode and it's tough. there are some areas the A.I. doesn't perform well in, like the top of the volcano level. if you stay at the highest point of the volcano with the ball, some A.I. levels will be unable to navigate to you.
the art isn't too bad. although i think there could be more background animations. i do appreciate the high-rez UI alongside the pixel in-game graphics, similar to Celeste.
the music might be the weakest part of the game, which is a shame because i typically get into games because of their music. most of the tracks either don't fit the theme of the level or game overall. for example, the track "Temple" is a jazz (maybe bebop) song with a fast-paced sax solo. i do like this track but doesn't match the whole temple/ kungfu vibe. my favorite track is "The Caves of Kickball", because of how exciting it is - but, again, not sure how kungfu it is...
i do think the price of $20 is a little high for what the game is currently. but i'd give it a try!... if you already have friends who'd play with you. i believe there are ways you can play online with friends with only one copy of the game (although i haven't tried this myself).

Please add a ranked mode, and some kind of progression system and away to keep track Of your wins and losses.
I believe this is required to maintain a player base, just am idea I want this game to do well.
Great work so far
