First visual novel I played, was the free version of Her lie I tried to believe and it broke me.....in a positive way.
Just now played The Spell. This game is part of a bundle with includes also the extented version of Her lie I trie to believe and a third game. I have from Drunken Cat Purrudoctions ALL their other vn's on my wishlist!
And the music, for what I heard in the games I played, is a 10 out of 10.
The Spell had it all for me: I loved all the routes, but Steve's broke me. A happy ending? Play it for yourself, to feel the conclude for yourself and feel the vibe!

This is a rather decent story. A little girl loses her parents in an accident, and has to go live with her uncle Steve. But she starts wondering about somethings about her uncle Steve.

Great story, and as the type of novel states, you have no real input as you're basically reading a book. The amount of twists and turns however will make you believe one thing and then completely turn it on its head. Just when you think you've figured it out, you realize you know nothing at all. I stayed up until 4 AM when I have work in five hours just because I refused to not finish it, as I wouldn't be able to sleep. The ending however won't let you sleep either, we can leave it at that.
Great KN, definitely recommended. Wish the studio were more widely recognized, as this is one of few that I actively wait for news on new IP's or sequels.

First of all, I'll start by saying that even if it doesn't last long (5h or so), it's totally worth the cost even at full price. This is a kinetic novel, meaning that you have no meaningful choice allowed and therefore no replayability but it's perfect as it is.
The art is good, the story is consistant and well-written, the music is not the best I've ever heard but it sure serves well its purpose of accompanying us on this journey.
The characters are bright, not dumb or irritating, you get to know them, to see them evolve, to acknowledge their issues and to feel empathy. My favourite one is the male main character, he has a really tortured personality but his awkwardness makes him so hilarious at times, I really came to like him. His actual job was my first guess at the beginning of the game. The outcome may have been obvious for some too but honestly, until the very last sentence, I prayed for a good ending. I'll be honest, I cried at the end.

I just finished this game right before typing this up and I honestly can't. The ending hit me harder than it should have and it hurts. It's an amazing story that's well executed and I'm happy I spent my time on it. I'd also recommend Her Lie I Tried to Believe. especially before this one, because although a bit different in terms of store it also has a twisting end that hits you. Unless you were to get the extended version in which you'd fairly happy. All in all, amazing. I'm off to play the next game!

This VN shines on its artwork and concept, but flounders in its second half. While I really appreciate the majority of The Spell - with emphasis on Eloise's arc - it struggles to remain immediate and compelling once it branches out the story, over-complicating the larger affair with melodrama. The ending has a unique idea of a twist, with regards to "Hero's Journey" stuff that those who reached the end will be aware of. But the strong opening and conceptual ending doesn't really make up for the weak core.
That being said, the art and concept alone are enough for me to give a favorable review. But only just, as the piece in my eyes does have a number of narrative faults. Lower expectations should be the guiding principle for most people playing this.

This visual novel is really good. It almost left me crying, the ending is pretty sad.
The story is really interesting. Art - it's OK, really cute though.

That was an amazing read and im glad i experienced it. Not what i expected going in, it was actually far better than what i expected. Great art, great use of sound effects, and great charcters. My only complaint is that there couldve been more artwork, especially for the ending. EASY recommendation, id say more about why it was so good but that would spoil it

I bought this after playing another of these guys VN, which i loved, so i had high expectations which were held up.
The story is very nice, although it felt confusing in the end, you may find yourself playing this all in one sitting so buckle up.
Soundtrack is not remarkable, which means it's fine.
Writing is well done and not over done, which is great because it's kept simple while still holding it's charm.
The BG art and character sprites are inconsistent, yes. Weird, yes. But you can ignore it.
Overall the story is cativating with nicely done soundtrack and writing which is very friendly and still enjoyable to read.
Would play again.

This is a rather decent story. It is filled with twists and misdirections. A little girl loses her parents in an accident, and has to go live with her uncle Steve. However, Steve may not be what he appears. And because of that, danger swirls about.
Fully recommend.
